There’s quite a lot of synthesized instruments as well. Instead of seeing this album as a call-back to analogue days, it’s more rewarding to see it as a successful fusion of several different styles; unusual percussion, electronic instruments, analogue instruments, brass, winds, strings, everything is here, and nothing is failing to serve the songs over showing off. Even the bass is showy in the most subdued way possible.

I listened to this cut and Skate before church, in earbuds, on the bus. I guess people were thinking, what's that church lady rocking out to? And I didn't care, but I held my phone so that the people sitting behind me could clearly see. I was in my happy place so it may have been a blur to them. It said Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic. Need I say more! Anderson does the best comedic prat falls and his video to Leave the Door Open is HILARIOUS 😅. This Grand mom knows what funk, love and clean music was like. I let it take me back to when my only sister; who was oldest, would let me sing with her. I looked up to her and cherished her intro to her era of music; bridging mine. My fondest memory of her is us dancing together to the LP's and 45's until they scratched and skipped. I love you Big Sis Mick, from your lil sis. She wanted to be in the Philly Roller Derby: "Warriors". So, I dedicate "Skate" to her memory.

Think of how Michael Jackson's Thriller album was like with just 9 tracks. Every song was fire and that album went on to become and currently the biggest selling album of all-time. Like Michael, Bruno wanted to do an album where every song is fire. Not sure if it will sell as big as MJ's album did, but Silk Sonic should be able to win multiple awards for it.
