please make more videos on the techniques you use for raspy singing... I always feel a bit of strain whenever I try to use rasp, maybe I'm projecting it wrong, just not being able to figure it out.

Please watch my video on Cord Closure/Compression etc. It's a matter of pushing big volumes of air that makes the throat hurt while trying to scream/distort the voice etc. More videos are coming, stay tuned!

MSM thank you for the reply sir. I did watch one video where you talked about raspy voice, though I wasn't able to grasp it completely. and j'll watch the one on cord compression as well.

MSM also is it normal to feel a bit of burn/ strain after practicing in the intermediate stages of training for raspy voice?
@modernsingingmethod6 жыл бұрын
No, not at all. Maybe ever so slightly in the beginning simply from the fact that you're trying to figure it out. But that is in the VERY beginning stages, not intermediate for sure. I highly advise you to study this with a professional who knows exactly how to do it and how to teach it to you. All the best.
@ramanujxxx6 жыл бұрын
MSM thank you. I wish there were teachers who taught such techniques in my hometown or even in my state, there aren't. and can't afford a session with foreign coaches like yourself. so guess I'll have to figure it myself with help of your videos and other such videos where it is explained properly.

I reckon you're mostly belting out the songs. But what if you were to sing it in mixed voice? I wonder what that would sound like. I mean, seriously...I'm done with descriptions; I'm looking for demonstration of singing belty songs in mixed voice. Hope you'll help.

@gironni31584 жыл бұрын
i guess that's beacause he's using his abs and diaphragm really hard to push the sound. Actually, i guess that's the only way for a man to perform like this... I also belive that bruno mars style is very harmfull for the vocal chords. If you are trying to cover his songs in the same key, be sure not to tension your neck because that'd be even more harmfull than it already is.

Thank you for inspiring videos George! I like this song, but can’t hit more of high notes in context of whole song. Separately or in exercises I can close cords from G1 to E4 on sounds like “lah, law”. But when I take a song my cords seems to be weak to bring this weight. How did you practice songs like that: do you perform firstly in lower key and then get higher as cords get stronger? Or maybe better way to grow up all elements (breathing, vocal onset, cord closure, compression, articulation) on singing songs in comfortable keys for me? Ps. My message needs to read with russian accent.. Excuse me for some mistakes :D

No worries my friend I understand you clearly :) Hard to answer this in text but in an attempt to do so, either go phrase by phrase, slow it down and even try in lower keys until you manage to get the control of your voice!

I love the verses but I think you could have used a little less rasp on the chorus - a bit more light and shade. However, this is an incredibly tough song to sing and I doubt anyone does a better version on yt
@modernsingingmethod6 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for your comment. Indeed, there's a little more rasp on my cover, Bruno Mars uses less of it when he sings it,. Everything else I kept close to the original so I decided to give it a little extra "flavour" for the chorus ;)

100% baritone. Sing with your normal tone. Why people always try do to innatural thinkings. Im sure at 1000% Im sure cause in live version you are not capalbe to sing this full song without maximum effort.
