Unbelievable how Bruno remembers dates, times, names, and hotels. For those who don’t know, Vince McMahon tried to teach Bruno a lesson when he refused to lose matches early in his career (1961) so he had Sammartino suspended supposedly for missing a date. The suspension was recognized all over the United States. Barnett let him wrestle but paid Sammartino jobbers pay. Bruno left the United States and went to Canada and became the Canadian champion. McMahon and Toots Mondt finding out that he was filling arenas there paid Bruno’s fine and begged him to return to New York. The rest is history.
