Thanks for posting this fabulous interview of the greatest wrestler of all time, Bruno Sammartino. We love to here his candid stories about the world of professional wrestling. We all knew wrestling was a work, however hard work in that ring was always appreciated. His feats of strength and the endurance in that ring was amazing. Bruno and Kowalski were two of the hardest workers known in the business. What a life story. When interviewed he comes across just as if he was wrestling. A true gentleman who appreciated the fans as much as they appreciated him.

I’d like to say that I did get to see Bruno battle Larry Z., at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena in 1980. Bruno was truly the best. I even have a friend, as well as a coworker that had the pleasure of meeting Bruno. He is truly missed.

OMG. Is this still on the air? I remember this. Surprisingly, these guys managed to bring in quite a few notable guests. (Sterling James Keenan aka Corey Graves)

OMG yeah I remember watching these guys when I was younger. Yeah if I remember correctly they were pretty high on Sterling James Keenan aka Corey Graves. They interviewed him and air a couple of his matches hell they interviewed a few different guys who became some of today's top stars in WWE/AEW and I remember thinking back than that there's no way those little guys who worked a such a fast high flying pace would never be top stars. Boy was I wrong Tyler Black , SJK a few more I can't think of there names. BTW I'm from the Same area Bruno is from the school his talking about was right around the corner from me growing up which was cool to know I guess youngstown ohio a.d the surrounding areas was a popular territory

Growing up in Australia, the first time I saw wrestling was when I was 10. It was when the 0-Ten Network (now Network Ten) aired the original Wrestlemania in May 1985. Because it was a ratings success, we then started getting WWF Championship Wrestling (from Poughkeepsie, NY) shown weekly from around 10 PM on Monday nights where Bruno was commentating with Vince McMahon. Thankfully my parents let me stay up to watch (dad was a wrestling fan from way back) and I became a fan of the Living Legend from that.

Sounds about right. I don't know if you're willing to mess with it or not but if you do some commentary over it or take any music out of it that could possibly get around the copyright problem.

There is part of story left out here...before Bruno/Rogers MSG Rogers was defending the Nwa title in Canada vs Lou thez.. Sam Muchnick wanted Thez to win titile but Vince refused...the match went ahead and they screwed Rogers with quick pin after a Thez press... basically they stole title from Rogers..it was after that screw job that Buddy had heart attack...Vince took another belt on Buddy billed it as title bout and Bruno took title...Buddy had one hand that had a tremer in his hand after that and couldn't stay in ring more then few min...I was working as working as photographer/asst editor and spent an entire day at Buddy's House and I saw how his left arm had periodic shaking and had meds he was on for his heart...that's my recollection...

It’s funny how on WCW Nitro they gave Larry Zbyszko the nickname The Living Legend when it was Bruno’s first and if you look at all the magazines that they’re showing most of the have got The Living Legend either before or after Bruno’s name. So I don’t know when they started calling Larry Zbyszko The Living Legend but he was always called that on WCW Nitro
@Rjensen22 жыл бұрын
Zbyszko called himself that since the 80s.
@nichhodge85032 жыл бұрын
@@Rjensen2 thanks for telling me about that as I only became aware of Larry Zbyszko from watching Nitro in 95/96 because in England we only got to see WCW when Nitro started on TNT on Sky TV (Satellite tv company owned by Rupert Murdoch). Before that we only got WWF/WWE on Sky One and Sky Sports (All the WWE PPV’s were all free to watch on Sky Sports I didn’t know Americans had to pay to watch WrestleMania, SummerSlam etc until the early 2000’s when I read it on the internet). Also Nitro was on Friday nights and Raw was on Saturday mornings (we got to see Sable’s handprints “bikini top” and Triple H dressed up as Kane fucking Katie Vick at 11am in the morning here) so we didn’t have to choose between the two. Gone off topic but I do remember as a teenager think Bruno was the living legend not Larry as their feud in WWE was before I was watching WWE as I started watching it in 86 when I was 5 and Bruno was still doing commentary still and Larry had moved on. In England at the time you had World Of Sport Wrestling (English company where Dynamite Kid and William Regal started off) on ITV which was one of the four channels everyone got on “normal tv” and WWF on Sky TV (BBC, BBC2, ITV & Channel 4 those were the only channels unless you had money and could afford to pay for Sky TV which came in around 85 or 86. It’s crazy today to think there was only 4 channels on tv what with all the options we got today. And then Channel 4 only started in 83 or around there)

@@nichhodge8503 Yeah, he took it on after Bruno retired in 1981, claiming he retired him and was the new "Living Legend".

Bruno had said that he would accept being in the HOF if the WWF would clean up as far as vulgarity and steroids, and it did at least for awhile, so I wouldn't call Bruno a hypocrite, he was just honoring what he had said, he believed the WWF was cleaning up so he accept being in the HOF, no hypocrisy.
