I remember every inch of this place. Went to pre-school at KCC, Kindergarten with Mrs. Sturby, and then all the students went to Brevoort Park or Roland Michener for one year while the school was renovated. It was absolutely mint when we returned. 2 gyms, and all the equipment was still in packaging. Perfect new foam dodgeballs (effective, but not weapons like the old ones) I was fortunate to grow up just a few blocks away, and graduated in 2007. 10 years all told. I may not have seen it at the time, but this school was a sanctuary. I hope technology and certain social realities haven't taken anything away from it or the childrens' experiences. Shout out to Mrs, Sturby, Ms. Gordon, Mrs. Gordon-Dirks, Ms. Ingram, Mr. Mackintosh, Mrs. Simon, Mr. Richards, Ms. Cumming/Mr. Bakos. Also Ms. Jay, Mr. McDonald, Ms. Orchard, Ms. Kunkel, Ms. Leclair, Mr. Shockey, and Ms. Heron Special shoutout to Mr. Bernard and Mr. Hillier. As a child it's hard to fully appreciate what the Janitors do. Simply put, they make the school safe and functional, and it can be truly unsavory. They were good men and no less valuable than any other staff Nothing is more important than community, and this school was in a diverse neighborhood. That taught me early on that it doesn't matter what side of the river you live on or how many legs you have (Orwell). We just need to find common ground Ps. I live in Victoria now, but I hope there is someone tending to the ice rink there! No small task, but invaluable to the kids and families!

So much has changed since I attended in the 1960s and early 70s. Only the playground looks somewhat familiar.
