Hi Justin, took the same path 15 years ago when I was 40, thought I was too old after being made redundant, now been a paramedic in Pembrokeshire for past 12 years and loving it despite the challenges facing the NHS at the moment and since I started to be honest, but the job itself doesn’t really change. Since starting my new life (again) in West Wales I have started sailing and now sail coastal waters in my lovely shrimper 19 life is good. From watching your videos I feel you have the right personality and humour for this unusual and challenging career, best of luck regard Ian.

Good to see you have emerged from hibernation. :D A lovely looking prop, it will give you so much time back you might be a year younger by this time next year. Sandy

I would like to offer my encouragement to you regarding your studies. I know exactly how you feel at the moment. 6 years ago I started studying science (physics) in university after 20 years of working in more or less menial jobs. There I was, studying algebra and complex analysis together with 20 years old geniuses - most of who were very amused that the old geezer was trying so hard. In the first year I was so busy I was actually contemplating on selling my boat since I would never have time to sail again. I'm glad I didn't, since there's been plenty sailing later (although it took a good part of the second year too). I aced my courses, and graduated, unlike some of the geniuses. What you lack in study routines, you double in grit. So go for it, I have absolutely no doubt that you will do fine.

Hi, Just wondered how you got on with the hibernian wind vane? especially in respect to it being mounted on the rudder stock, any observations much appreciated, as I am considering the same, Cheers, John

It worked very well all the way to the Azores and back. No problems with the rudder mount

You are forgiven! Haha! So convenient being able to beach the boat. Those two keel sailboats are nice. How did you get the boat up that far? Does high tide reach that high?

No, but for the winter here there is a group of us that hire a crane and driver for a day. We come alongside and get lifted out, it works out well 👍

Well done Justin. I was a bit sad when you sold the Twister as I had just purchased one down here in NZ, but understood the reasons why. Looking forward to your new maintenance vids as well as sailing vids - you have a good way of explaining stuff that makes it easy for those less handy (such as I) to understand. I also applaud anyone that chooses a career in service to their community - they have been the unsung heroes worldwide of the recent pandemic. Cheers
