for more information on the skipped section at around 3:40 he is talking about how to utilise the right tool for the job, if you only need to apply 1nm of torque then a 5 litre v8 that produces 400nm isnt the right tool. the gearing refers to the ability to change the load while maintaining a speed. if you expect to have more resistance you should use a higher gear ratio (ie 6:1 is more top speed 8:1 is more acceleration) with more rpm

Interesting! Really awesome to see these motors scaled up. I was a part of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star's crew last year and it was so cool to get to help clean the brushes on one of the three nearly 2 story tall 4.3MW DC motors (While it was running!). They have to be some of the most powerful DC motors in the world. Really a privilege to get to see them in action up close.

i studied similar things in my master in electrical engineering and luckily i understood the 95% of it, unfortunately when it comes to electronics instead i still have to make some more efforts and study that too, you have a new subscriber keep up the good work :)

Very nicely made, I like the curve that update to be all nice! Very interesting! What about adding a basic Arduino to generate the signal to drive the MOSFET with more control? I'm sure many people have done Arduino programming but have never seen the output signals on a nice Keysight scope ;)

An Arduino has PWM outputs so it may be possible.
