In any other boss from any other game, an action spent to move instead of attack would be a fresh of breath air. Here, an action spent to move is when you have to start asking which in your crew is the least important.

Mortal Horizon is one of the singly best animated moves I have seen in a jrpg/rougelike. The visceral-ity of it, the fact that it both doesn't stop when you want it to, yet still follows the rule of three. The way the eye is just naturally drawn to Osman as the animation ends, the unending stare that promises it will happen again. Even if he has to carry you there.Its beauty.

I honestly still don't know what's the deal with this guy. For me he is kinda like a third part of the pitiful corpse's mind, kinda like Nowak and Bosch, but as the artistic/creative part. I think this because of the fact that he is the one who hints Nowak to not kill the pitiful corpse and is the only Boss who actualy talks with Nowak before the fight, and i think of hin being the creative part because of all his talk about recognition and people saying his name, the fact that he looks like a sculpture and his tittlecard name being whitten in a kinda artistic handwriting signature. It would also make sense for hin tô bem a final Boss this way, since he doesn't want this entire world tô end since it's here he can trully shine, something he would never be able to do in the real would since he whas supressed ALL his life until this point. But I don't have anything else to reinforce this, so who the hell is Osman Sinnoks really? and why his favorite collor being blue is relevant?

Edit: I made this comment a while ago and it shows, I am no longer a little bitch who's afraid to use the wrong pigment or lose a party member. I still think Heaven is better, but I now love this fight. Proof that I got gud is the fact that I got the 5 winstreak achievement. The rest of this comment are my little bitch baby ramblings that I made when I was still playing like a lil' bitch. + changed "Maceo" to "Talia" Okay rant time, Talia I love this game so godamn much it is 100% in my top 10 games of all-time list but please, PLEASE, give Osman Sinnoks/Osman and Sinnoks a new attack in a future update I just find this fight kinda boring, let me explain, Heaven is my favorite boss by far because the entire fight is about choices that will permanently change the fight, like you can either have every one take 7 damage OR instakill 1 party member. The way you can also choose who will get hurt by the incarnates by putting your party members in front of where they will spawn because all of the abilities, they have will attack their sides and not directly in front of them is an important detail as well. This all does have a biblical meaning as well as all you have to do to pass into heaven is choose GOD over all else which is a CHOICE the thing Heaven's fight revolves around, choices. Now if we look at Osman Sinnoks/Osman and Sinnoks what do they have? Punching left and punching right moving a random direction and an unavoidable instakill attack (If you have 5 party members.). Now I by no means have any way of altering the game and you do not have to listen to me, but I just think adding a new attack to the Osman Sinnoks equation would benefit the fight. If you have made it this far thanks, I just want you to know I have only the highest respect for you and your work and I hope you have a great day, Peace :) BTW anybody saying that I am just complaining about the fight being hard just know that I actually do enjoy a challenge.
@TaliabobMair2 жыл бұрын
It really means so much to me that you have enjoyed Brutal Orchestra so much. I'm genuinely honored. I'll be the first to say Osman's fight definitely isn't for everyone and for some it is the hardest challenge the game (currently) has to offer, but Osman's fight is my personal favourite out of the entire game and is one of the few bossfights that I feel came out perfectly. As you mentioned, Heaven is a fight about the choices you make here and now and how they will affect the future. This is the theme of Heaven in both a meta and mechanical sense. Heaven is the thing you spend your life making decisions to try to reach, trying to be worthy of. It only made sense that the fight would reflect that. Osman is not a king, not something divine and not a god. He is a terrified man desperately trying to prepare for a strange future. Osman's fight is about the future both thematically and mechanically. He gives you near-perfect information of what will happen and when, and it is up to the player to interpret and brace for that. In this way, Osman forces you to behave like him in a meta sense. The fact that other humans making decisions beyond your control (Concentration) is a more dangerous attack than Mortal Horizon (insta-kill) demonstrates how terrifying the unknown of the future can be. Osman attacks with his bare hands like a desperate animal. He shouldn't be any more dangerous than a wild animal, but unlike an animal, he has a human will that refuses to be broken. The same kind of fragile will you have relied on to get this far. I disagree that Mortal Horizon is unavoidable or unfair. Bringing more than 3 party members is a risk the player brings upon themselves. The player is intended to have to tank whatever is thrown at them if they choose to bring 5 party members. And in truth, I personally find Osman much more fun and to be much easier than Heaven. Once again, I am so glad you have enjoyed the game!

basically any boss is unbeatable without casualties with 5 party members, someone on ourobos will be hit with starvation, trigger fingers might just not reroll headshot 5 times, smoothskin may abuse its agony attack, charcarrion may just put 5 scars on each party member, part of brutal orchestra's strategy IS choosing who should come and who should stay, balancing between taking a small amount of party members to take the least damage and taking a big amount of party members to deal as much damage and drain as much pigment

My theory is that Heaven it's your soul (or your brain, to be more specific) and Osman Sinnoks it's your body. That's why he's really mad at Nowak before you battle him, cause he tried to commit suicide and his body is in pain.
@creditsunknown7974 Жыл бұрын
My interpretation of Osman is that hes the "Things well never be" Bosch talks about when referring to the new hardmode area. Osman is perfectionism, the perfect art, the slow sinking filling that in every single type of thing you made you make a imperfect work that never comes out how you want it, that little voice on your head that tells you to give up, that it's better if you just stop doing whatever creative thing you are doing and just give up on it forever. He's the part of Nowak that brought him to suicide, the part that tells him to just give up, that death is coming and your work isnt perfect and as such it's garbage, he is doubt. Only by defeating can you rise, even for just a moment, to create a masterpiece that you know is imperfect, yet you are happy with it. Edit: Looking back at this, and having checked the Wiki, this seems to fit more with Heaven than Osman, Osman seems more like a reflection of Nowak than a product of his mind (There's also the fact that Bosch calls him and Heaven "Real in a existential way"), though seemingly this "perfectionism" is just the form Heaven takes, and not the actual creation by Nowak. I recommend checking the wiki, and even though we have like, heavens literal first name, Osman is still just as mysterious! We basically just know that he is related to Nowak in some ontological way, and that his favorite color is blue.
@pootytang69 Жыл бұрын
Great interpretation - I'd never considered that perhaps Nowak (and bosch, whoever they really were in 'real life') had committed suicide - I had just stuck with the assumption they were murdered, even though it seems pretty clear that the person bosch claims killed you is actually a representation of your true self in reality. I like your take a lot though as it makes that ending scene even more profound and touching, which it didn't need, but i'll take extras.
@ImFangzBro11 ай бұрын
I suspect Heaven and Osman are both a product of perfectionism. Heaven is basically "What Nowak wants to paint before he dies," and Osman is "who Nowak wants to be before he dies."
@awesierra7044 ай бұрын
The drive towards perfectionism was always what I saw Osman as. I always saw heaven as a representation of death, both its fear and its allure, while Osman is the manifestation of the inner critic, the often self destructive drive for success and perfectionism. The dialogue he has after you get the fake ending, telling you to reject death and subsequently fight him, only for him to oppose you right at the finish line, makes me think the reason he even fights Nowak is to force him to either prove himself or die trying. Not to mention Mortal Horizon is a weaponised reality check.

Fennec also handles it really well. You can essentially scale for free infinitely until you have enough bone spurs to kill the boss in one attack. Also Boyle, to a lesser extent. Can take a lot longer. But since he can indirectly attack enemies with clobber, and it always generates enough pigment to use without penalty, you can generally take the boss down if you have enough patience. Unlike Fennec you are reliant on positioning as you don't want to put yourself in a spot he will be hitting, but it will usually work out eventually.

We know that Heaven is stronger than the Ungod, due to the former being more of a concept which can't really be killed, but what about Heaven versus Osman? Both are intruders that pose some form of existential threat to Nowak, but one is this eldritch floating wolf skull with hands that descends from on high, and the other is just... a guy. I'm curious how they compare to each other with how different they are.

if you need any help, try to bring fewer party members and set up a combo for big damage, it might cost you a turn and some health, but Osman Sinnoks is one of those fights you can either stall to death, or rush to the finish. Many items combined to party members will greatly help you on this fight as well, frail, ruptures or fire are good to use, although rupture being slightly weaker seeing how each attack counts as a turn for enemies. In any case, make the best use of your ressources, also always bring in a red pigment user.
@pootytang69 Жыл бұрын
Probably irrelevant since you posted a year ago - but along with what wormy said, there are simple ways to make osman a very easy fight - it can even be done with 0 deaths and four party members - one of the key things is understanding when you first kill Osman that the two halves of him spawn immediately during your attack phase, and neither of them can line up an action until the end of your next attack phase - once you know this you can trivialise the second half of the fight if you're able to burst one of them down before they can act. The other secret ingredient is Clive - specifically with his ensnare move - ensnare isn't that useful in most situation outside of boss fights, but in a decent few boss fights, particularly both Heaven and Osman, a high rank clive can entirely shut them down. Ensnare for whatever reason doesn't burn stacks when something tries to move out of it, so basically once osman stands in a snare, or if you start the combat with clive in center position, snare and then swap him with another party member and repeat until you move the final one out of the space, you have just avoided all damage - Osman can't move, and thus can't hit anything, as all his attacks hit a single tile ahead of him - once he's one attack from novak away from dying, burn your turn and keep people safe, and if possible move clive into either spot where one of the two halves will spawn if its safe to do so - on the next turn when everyone is refreshed, finish osman phase one with nowak to activate focus for phase 2, and now you've got two whole turns to burn down one of the two halves before they can act - and if damage is high enough you also have wriggle room to preemptively snare the remaining half and entirely shut him down again.
