The thing inside the Charcarrion’s Corpse is jinn-esqe demon. Long before humans arrived in purgatory the Charcarrion’s people were the most common beings in Purgatory. As purgatory became more hostile the Charcarrion made a deal with the demon that now resides in its chest for invulnerability so it could protect its people. This wish was granted but even with invulnerability the Charcarrion couldn’t protect its people forever, and now is the last one of its kind, still near immortal and having gone mad after eons of isolation. The Charcarrion is meant to mirror Nowak and Bosch revealing what a deal with a real demon would look like.

Everyone says he's the best party member and that he carries boss fights, but I don't understand how. He seems like a weak guy to me. Can you explain how you think he's useful?

I think he’s useful due to dealing some good damage and being able to sustain himself in fights. As for his abilities, He has 2 moves that deal damage, one of them applies constricting which is pretty good for enemies that move a lot, and another damage move that consumes pigment which is a pretty useful way to not overflow on pigment. He also has a self healing move that, well heals him but also removes status effects. This is the self sustaining part of Clive, he can heal himself and remove all status effects from himself, say Clive has like, frail, scars, ruptured n stuff, if he has the healing move he can remove these status effects from himself. The only downside is the high cost for the abilities, they all need blue pigment, the attack moves need blue and red while the healing move requires yellow and blue Basically, he has pretty good stats and can sustain himself in battle with high cost moves, this is why people think he is the best party member, Personally I think he’s great as well.
