@@D.3100 nah we've got the same issues the Us has here. they are just a little less pronounced is all, I have heard of a bunch of kids at my school for example who stood around the library during an optional presentation on lgbtq issues who said something along the lines of "we wanna see who the (insert very offensive slur against gay people) are. so Canada still has issues, although we are ahead of the us, we just banned conversion therapy here for example

I think we've got a more complicated story here. It' s about freedom of speech. Discussion is the answer. Banning content is not a great response. Nobody wants to live in Orwell's "1984". People need to discuss, ideas need to be argued, we need debates, not censoring each other. I mean, insults and threats shouldn't be accepted and there is no place for them in the public space, but differences in opinion are ok. Different ideas being exposed in public space are foundation of democracy

I support gay rights online, I’ve been told that I should be “normal with a woman” even though I’m not gay nor am I a man. Homophobes think that being gay just refers to men having sex, these people want love like anyone else. Being trans is not curable because it’s not a disease, some people just feel like the opposite gender that they were born with.

Believe me I know I’m part of the community and I hope we all can love and respect but know the difference between somethings (like the fact you should be diagnosed by a therapist and not a gender specialist, or the fact that there are trenders out there, and last but not least there is a big difference between sex and gender.)

Actually not all trans people experience gender dysphoria. Being trans simply means a person's gender is not the same as the one that was written on their birth certificate when they were born. Some trans people experience dysphoria (which is a state of distress that can arise from the conflictual relation between a person's gender, their body, and society's expectation's from their body), but not all, and in any case being trans is definitely not a mental illness.

pathetic attempt at using shaming tactics to force your ideology....worst part is they couldn't even find enough examples of actual hate they had to lump in vague phrases and meaningless statements. Upon first watching this video you might think this has something to do with stopping hate speech but their actual agenda is limiting your right to voice opinions that are outside of approved public opinion.

This campaign is not about silencing opinions, it's about taking hateful messages, often threats or call for violence, away from a public platform where they harm a lot of people. Unfortunately, very few of those hateful messages are reported and so they are vey rarely condemned. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness in the public so that they react when they see such messages and stop ignoring them. So far, thanks to this campaign we managed to have a couple of explicitely violent homophobic and transphobic tweets taken down. You can check them out on our website bit.ly/ReportHaters

Tell me if I am crazy, but aren't they just amplifying the public opinions made by these individuals by putting it on the street. There was no commentary or framing on those posters that would have lured the reader into agreeing/disagreeing, the responses were organic. Maybe you should get a poster of your own and see what people think?
