@Teacher Raf I've read and seen quite a bit about Jobs. It sure seems to me there's more hype than delivery, even when it comes to VISION. People think he was at the forefront of the innovation at Apple. Absolutely not true. The Apple I and Apple II, were both Wozniak's creation, including the graphic interface. The smart phone (mistakenly identified as the iPhone, which actually appeared 15 years later) was actually the idea of Marc Porat, back in 1989. It was he, Atkinson, and Hertzfeld who spun off from Apple with Scully's blessing and formed a company called General Magic, all in the absence of Jobs. I suggest people watch the documentary/movie called General Magic, especially the Jobs fans. That was the beginning of the integration of wireless communication and the computer and phone. From what I see, Jobs was little more than a pitch-man who could market himself along with the company.

I have always felt that we should be able to pick and choose courses and tutors from a wide variety of subjects. I was born with talents in both science and art ...left brain things and right brain things ....I never wanted the linear road to success so I mixed and matched what training and aptitudes I had , and experienced what ever came my way . I started from scratch ,and ended up pioneering new ways to do things....I have a very broad knowledge of life and people . And now end ,washed up on the shore...not knowing if I have done well or not but at least knowing I forged my own path ..I do not have heads of money ,nor am I known for any success. ..but I have enough and am satisfied ...

What he didn’t say in his speech is that he was one of the founders of a tradition at Reed College where some students would stand where students on the meal plan at the cafeteria would return their trays. Steve Jobs and others would eat some of the leftovers left on trays. It is called ‘scrounging.’ I say this in the interests of full disclosure, not to denigrate this remarkable graduation speech.

I think I appreciate that speech more at 70 than when I graduated from college. If you get a chance to read Steve Jobs biography it is a very worthwhile read with some great insights into how most of the inventors, Hewlett, Packard, Bill Gates, Scott McNealy, etc all knew and had some sort of personal relationship. Not like buddies but interestingly Bill Gates used to drop by Jobs's house, walk in the front door and, as the house was usually a mess, ask ... "Do you actually live here?"

A tear comes to my eye each time I listen to him. Somehow the net brought me back here today to listen once again. It seems to me Mr Jobs was a smart man. In his way, he had wisdom but he seemed to not connect the dots on where it came from. He refers to it as 'luck' when he found what he loved to do. He uses words and examples that are truthy but somehow disavows the real truth of where it comes from. I refuse to believe that everything that happened to him was luck. Could it be he was 'destined' to follow his path, make the choices he did to gain the life experience that caused him to join with the Woz to create a device that would change the world? If you believe that you have a lot more forth than most. I have also been fascinated by the story that Woz tells about how Steve persuaded him to build the game called 'breakout' for Atari. He told Woz he had 4 days and had to use less than 50 computer chips. If the deadline was reached they would earn$700. Woz did his part and the money paid to Jobs was actually $5,000 and yet Jobs gave the Woz only $350.00 That's who Steve was, his behavior defined him. He cheated his 'friend' and the man who who was the real brains behind the creation of Apple.
