I like my Chrometta 10. It was made in Germany. I heard the reedplates are still made in Germany, but can't verify that. The slide can be made more airtight by making it thicker with a piece of cellophane tape, aka Scotch tape. The holes are cut out of the tape with a hobby knife like an exacto knife. The slide will come out if the spring is removed. I didn't tape my slide, but know others who have.

I have the chromettas harps. They are cheep and great. Totally underrated. Unique sound and not as much leaky at all. Sure I have also pricy harps and still I think the chromettas harps are great.

Mine was very leaky, to the point where the lowest holes are almost unresponsive. Do you have the new or old version?

@@woelneberg I have the new ones... maybe you got a not good one as we know it can happen in our harps world...

That's always a posibility and in my experience QC is what seperates the good from the great harmonica makers. My experience with Hohner is that they are very good at QC. Being a cheaper model this might be a line that doesn't recieve as much attention?@@yarone4451

Sehr schön. Die hat einen sehr schönen Klang. Dass sie tiefer beginnt, halte ich für eine gute Sache. 👍

My old "red comb" 8 hole Chrometta is my favorite, still have the soft red plastic case.

Those red combs are beautiful!

I have 2 chromettas and really enjoy playing them. Not much leakage and they are definitely nicer than my East Top made in China.

Good for you! Mine is by far the most leaky chromatic I have ever tried. My 30$ Qi-Mei is superior by miles. It's posible to get Acrylic combs with new slide from Aliexpress that are supposed to improve them massively, but they only have for 12 and 14 holes unfortunately

I have 2 Chrometta's one 14 and a 12 hole. The 14 I bought new and the 12 I bought off Ebay, the 12 is made in Germany and the 14 is a new one but had a sticker that had Trossingen on it but didn't mention China 🤷♂️ I have only been playing the chromatic for almost a year now so the Chrometta is all I know about and I rather like them. I understand they aren't professional chromatics, but they have been great to learn on for me. I assume a professional chromatic would be a lot easier to maintain and play and look forward to getting one. Great review anyway!

Thanks! I am not 100% certain about it being made in China, but the word on the web is that it is so. Good luck with your harmonica playing! I think you will find a different model worth it once you get there 🙂

@@woelneberg Thanks, I'm already thinking about a different model. I liked your review of the ET12! I've got a few in mind, The Suzuki Chromatix it at the top of the list! Now I have to persuade my girlfriend that yes I do need another harmonica 🎶😅

The older red comb chromettas were much better and have a funky sound The new black comb ones are not as good and too expensive

That's interesting! The red comb also look much better!

They were also made in Germany and attention to detail was better Find yourself an old Chrometta 8 Small , airtight and look like an old Vespa @@woelneberg

I will take the chance when I find one! My experience from playing this 10 hole for a while now is that the Chrometta 8 will be enough. I rarely use the first two holes for the pocket melodies I play on it!
