I have two Ruggables. I’ve had zero problem with edges curling. I’m just guessing, but folks who are having trouble with curling edges may be using higher dryer heat because they do take a while to dry. I dry mine on low heat, and they are completely flat. These rugs are a dream for anyone who has pets. I have four big dogs, and both rugs get a lot of traffic. They do not slide, they’re easy to vacuum, they get very clean in the wash, and they’re durable. I have no fraying or any signs of wear, and I’ve washed many times. Hope this helps.

Ours fit in our standard washer and dryer. We did dry them on low heat, though, and they’ve curled like crazy. One of them was so bad that my wife pitched it (after tripping over it for the millionth time). The other one is getting pitched as soon as we receive the different rug we ordered to replace it, since it looks terrible now. We’re chalking this up to an expensive learning experience.

I have 3 medium-sized rugs (kinda big) for 3 years now, and I have a 4 year old German shepherd who plays on one rug 24/7, and it's SUPER durable and easy to clean! I haven't seen any signs of damage, and the fur/hair comes off easy. I wash mine on cool and cool dry. It still comes out damp, so I air dry it. When I used a hotter setting on the edges curled, I hadn't had that issue since I first bought them.

I've had my Ruggable rugs for over a year. I love them. When I saw the issue with the curling up edge I used some simple rug tape to hold down the edges & it works great! The biggest 'con' for me is that I'm a 66 year old senior living alone. Moving furniture to wash them and laying back down again after they are clean is a big challenge for me. I have no family in my area to assist so it's particularly difficult to manage the 8x10 size by myself. It's an all day job for me.
@bk5224 жыл бұрын
Are you able to wash the 8x10 in your washer? I feel like it won't fit in mine.
@rubyparrot14 жыл бұрын
@@bk522 Yes, I am able to wash both rugs in my washing machine with each rug being a separate load. Honestly I've only done it a couple of times because it's faster for me to go to the laundromat and be able to use their mega washing machines and wash them together as one load. Although I still dry them separately.

This is the most honest review from anyone I’ve seen yet. I own 2 Ruggable rugs and the curling is a HUGE issue! They are beautiful no doubt but then they start curling after the first wash! I emailed and asked them about the curling and what to do and never got a response. This company could do so much better. How hard would it be to create a heavy border that can be attached underneath the rug edge via removable snaps? Someone in engineering needs to look into that. I won’t be purchasing anything else from ruggable and that’s sad because their designs are kick ass.

I pass my steamer over them and then the curl releases..... Every now and then I use a super light double sided sticky tape to keep the edges down! My real Persians so it too, especially after washing! I leave mine in the sun for a day and the heat relaxes the fabric as well, just works for me....

I have to say, I love my ruggable rugs! I have a runner on my hardwood and an 8x10 on carpet in my living room. From they day I ordered to the day it was delivered was 2 weeks. I haven’t had any curling and wash mine about once a month with having 3 dogs and a toddler. However, the return fee does suck. I ordered one and decided I didn’t like the pattern. I knew I couldn’t cancel it but I figured I could return it. I never even cut the tape off the box and they still wanted $30+ to ship it back and charged me a restocking fee...when it wasn’t even opened. So I decided to just post it on social media and it sold right away. People don’t like the wait time for shipping so posting a brand new rug for someone to get same day is a great solution to the shipping fee. I would buy these a million times over! They also just came out with a more plush under pad for the rug to give it that plush, squishy feel without having to deal with having a thick high pile rug. Worth the money in my opinion!

My husband and I made the mistake of buying a 9 x 12 Ruggable rug. At first I really liked it. The rug itself was really pretty and I personally prefer low pile rugs. One problem we had right away was that neither of our vacuum cleaners work on it. We tried several settings, but either the setting just wouldn't suck up the dirt and pet hair or it would suck the rug off of the rug pad. The only thing that works on it is a rubber carpet scrubber- and for a 9 x 12 rug this hard work especially since this was supposed to have been a rug to make our lives easier. So far, I have washed the rug once. It's a hassle to try to do with one person since the rug itself is pretty heavy, but then it never really dried in the dryer. I ran it through at least five times and it was still VERY damp. Finally my husband and I just put it back on the pad (a big pain in the rear getting it realigned) wet. This was late in the evening since my attempts to dry it had taken the better part of the day and the next morning when we got up the entire house smelled like mildewy towels. The rug did dry over night but after washing, it now feels oily which I do not enjoy. The smell took about three days to dissipate (if you put your nose to the close to the floor it still stinks) and I'm considering rewashing it and laying it out in the sun, but my god the labor and hassle involved makes me dread it. I think these rugs would be great in smaller sizes. I would not recommend the largest size. I would have much rather dealt with the constant steam cleaning like we used to do with our old rugs. This rug has been a nightmare.

That is an upgrade so it’s extra but I ordered the rug with the standard pad because I put it in my dining room and needed my chairs to be able to slide easily. Honest, detailed reviews of pros and cons from people with long-term experience of hard use (in this case, two playful and maybe shedding dogs) of a product are so valuable! This review feels very genuine. Thank you!! I've been eyeing Ruggables awhile cause it doesn't seem easy to find rugs this low-cost and machine-washable. Especially with pets, machine-washing sounds more thorough and simple than just vacuuming and spot-cleaning - though there are some great HEPA vacuums. After reading the comments here, I still feel yes to trying Ruggable - but with double-sided rug tape on edges if needed. It may not feel as fun as plush high-pile, natural materials, or the great qualities of wool. I don't know if I'll find a pattern I love. I do hear her on slow ship times, poor customer service, bad return policy, etc. But for me, I'm thinking machine-washable and price will make it worth it. Especially with asthma/allergy issues. A comment said Ruggable said they've improved the curling. A comment said a steamer may help - though the video did say ironing didn't work. What year did she buy them I wonder?

They came out with a Michael Adler collection right after I bought one of their rugs and they let me swap it out with no restocking or shipping fee. I’ve had 2 ruggable runners for almost 2 years now. There’s slight curling at the corners after I wash them but I just tape them down until the fabric relaxes. After reading the comments I’ll try my steamer to relax the fabric. BUT NOTHING BEATS BEING ABLE TO WASH THEM. Mine are at the entry from the garage and in the kitchen between sink/dishwasher and stove. Being able to wash rugs in those areas is game changer for keeping the house feeling and smelling (I assume) clean. I don’t know what is typical, but I don’t send my other rugs out for cleaning every year. Every other year if I remember. FYI, tripping is a concern in our household both for my husband and my mother when she visits and it’s never been an issue. Actually, I have to pick up my hand-knotted rugs when Mom visits because between their height and the pad beneath them, they are more of a tripping hazard.

But after watching this, no way.

Thank you for making this video! I have been on the fence for awhile. They charge $75 shipping to Hawaii for a small runner which is twice the price of what UPS quoted me. That seemed strange, but the curling is a deal breaker. I would be so upset spending $220 on a runner for it to curl, especially in the kitchen. Thanks again! Great video! I also wanted to add that I appreciate the very little "mouth noises" in the video. It might seem really strange, but for some people who deal with misophonia, its basically impossible to watch video reviews with all the lip smacking and spit noises.

Your comments are spot on. I have 3 3x5 ruggables. After a while the cons will prevent me from ever getting another one. Thank you for the great review.

Mine curl too and it is so hard to get this rug back on the rubber to fit perfect after I wash it . I want to throw it out but Hate to just throw money away .

Thank you for this review! I wondered about the edge curling, and knew it was a deal breaker just from seeing the edge on yours. As our population gets older, one thing a community nurse will look for in a patient's home is rugs with curling edges...BIG fall risk. Your video is very helpful in addressing this.

Thank you for this!!! I ordered the product and I hate it. It is so cheap and feels like a mat. I have a fully carpeted rental unit, and it should have been said this rug sucks on carpet. But since they don't allow real customer reviews, how would I have known that? My friends all think its gross too, and feels so cheap and tacky on your foot. It looks cheaply printed. The website doesn't let me review!!!!!!!! All the reviews on the website are clearly fake, there is zero place for me to review / zero email asking. I am returning it, and I am really scared they're going to charge me for things because the email says "they inspect it heavily". I am really disappointed in the company :overall return policy, customer service, and bait and switch marketing

I’ll have to look out for those cons. Not experiencing any issues...no curling of the edges...I’ve had the rugs for 3 months. I think they must have made the padding bigger. The padding holds down the rug like Velcro.

Have you washed it yet?
@sammy46343 жыл бұрын
@@tinagarcia7851 yes. No curling of the edges. After I washed the rug in my regular washing machine it looked so great. Nice and clean, no curling.

Thank you for your honesty! I bought a small one over year ago and returned it because not liking color. I disliked the cost to return. Best review and saved me from buying a large area rug for new home based on your cons.

Was in the process of putting my credit card info in to bite the bullet and buy it.. sooo happy I thought to watch a non sponsored review. The curling is an automatic no for me.

Ruggable now has padded rug bases, with added corner pockets to hold them to the pad. I have 10 ruggable rugs and have replaced nearly all of the original pads with them. They are soft and more luxurious and give a more upscale look. I have 3 of the new shag rugs, in my bathrooms and guest room and they are thick and so sturdy. You should visit their sight and see the new and improved rug covers and pads. I’m obsessed. Thanks for sharing your review!

I bought this rug and wanted to love it. I had the same issue with the curling up on the edges and just couldn’t take it anymore so I got rid of it and bought a regular area rug. Also, my rug was on top of tile and you could see the indent of the grout lines through the rug.
@theblogauthority4 жыл бұрын
OMG.. it is so thin you can see the grout lines? 😂 🤣 How can they even call these things rugs? They sound more like colorful blankets. 😆 🤣

I’ve had them for over a year...washing/drying and everything. I dry it in the dryer. Truthfully, I don’t have to wash very often; my ruggables are dark colored. But I have washed and dried in dryer and no curling on the ends. Soon as it was dried, I stretched it out on the Velcro padding and it was new again. So sorry you had so many issues. It is worth it for me. Smells so clean after you wash it. 👍

Curling is one reason I am looking to replace my current rug! I would feel super bummed and annoyed if I spent $400+ for a new rug that was thinner...that also curled, and was potentially impossible to return. Sad because I found the perfect design! I just can’t risk it at that price point sadly. Appreciate the review

Hello and thank you very much for this . You may have saved this granny a fall from a curled rug. It definitely helped me make my decision not to buy. I appreciate your honesty. Too bad the company cannot be more honest with their customers.

I have 4 dogs and I am searching for new rugs. Saw an add for ruggable, then came across this review. Thank you for an honest, no BS review! So hard to find an honest and non-sponsored review anymore. I would deal with most of the things you mentioned to be able to wash it, but the curling is just not at all something I could overlook for such a high price point. I can already see me tripping on it late at night. Also, I didn't even consider the dry time, so glad you brought it up! I can't even imagine trying to keep my dogs from chewing on that while I was waiting for the rug to dry. :-/ For the cost, it's just not worth it to me.
@OakAbode4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Maybe a bigger dryer wouldn't take as long to dry it as ours would? But it does put us off from washing it as the drying alone becomes a day-long chore.

I noticed the curling at the beginning of your video before you mentioned it. That's pretty bad looking for that much money. You can get a fabulous rug for that much money.
@theblogauthority4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Why people buy these things is beyond me.
@peach18804 жыл бұрын
@@theblogauthority People buy them because they have kids or pets. A fabulous rug is great, but a fabulous rug isn't going to last long with kids and/or pets (especially in high traffic areas of a home). Getting a rug professionally cleaned on a regular basis will add up in cost pretty quickly.

I have had my 3 year old 8x10' ruggable in my dining room, which is also the path to my kitchen so it gets a lot of use, and i have never had a problem with edge curling. Once in awhile the corner will flip up, but if I put it back down it goes down completely flat. I haven't washed it yet, but I vacuum regularly. I got some watercolor paint on it and just hand washed that part of the rug and the color came out easily. I also really like that the rugs and pads are USA manufactured. I got my 3x5' rug that I just ordered this week within a few days.
