When I filed for divorce my lawyer wanted me to file all these false cases against my husband and his family. And My husband's lawyer adviced him to file for mental insanity against me. We came to know that these lawyers get 10-20 percent of the alimony amount. Me and my husband , didnot listen to them, and filed for mutual divorce. We have joint custody and living a peaceful life. He is paying for child support because he wanted to. The amount was decided by him which he could afford comfortablely. We dont hate each, we still speak nicely if it is related to our son. we could not save our marriage, but we saved our basic friendship as a parent. I am from Pakistan and work at the District Court. Here, everyday, dozens of cases are registered against men based on similar allegations, often with questionable claims. In about 90% of these cases, men receive no leniency, while women are granted what they demand. This particular case highlights how the "woman card" is sometimes misused to pressure men for maximum financial gains after divorce. In many instances, it’s not just the woman but her entire family pursuing money. The judge in this case should be suspended and investigated. How could she allegedly demand a bribe to rule in Atul’s favor? Atul's family should file a complaint in the Supreme or High Court and pursue legal action against the judge. She bears responsibility for his tragic suicide. Where are the advocates of women’s empowerment now? Why is the blame always placed on men, even when they are wronged? Atul’s case has opened a new debate in society. We must ensure that his death is not in vain and that justice is served.

(this is a woman's perspective) What happened to this man is absolutely heartbreaking. He was utterly failed by a cruel and inefficient judiciary. The way men are targeted and harassed in divorce cases is sickening. And his wife and her family should be stringently punished for their crimes. Such cases should prompt a look into frivolous accusations and unrealistic maintenance/alimony demands. What it should not do is drive misogynistic ideas about alimony or maintenance being robbery and every woman who divorces being a gold digger. On the basis of the same laws, many people don't even get a divorce after years of battle from unfit partners. It is undoubtedly true that men suffer unimaginably due to false accusations and unreasonable demands.
@uvm0989Ай бұрын
Why not have same approach towards crime against women. Why have absolutely negative laws for men due to the act of the few. People like you throwing around these buzz words are a part of the problem. God forbid there comes a day men start choosing prison over ending their lives.

@@uvm0989People like you are the very reason laws became so biased in the first place. Look at your hatred, attacking a woman who is showing empathy and support to the victim here. Change will come the day you stop hating and develop empathy towards your fellow human beings.
@parinikasharma317Ай бұрын
@uvm0989 like I said, I don't think the divorce law is tilted in men's favour. The divorce law is gender neutral. It's the implementation that is skewed. You must understand that many cases of dowry harassment or marital abuse are truly genuine and women need the support of the court when they have no one else. That doesn't mean that an innocent person should suffer. Cases of men being hounded for unreasonable maintenance or alimony are rising and that needs to be strictly dealt with. It's a grave issue. Women's safety in an abusive marriage and a man's safety from exploitation are not mutually exclusive. They both come down to the same thing, better judiciary. This is not a man vs woman issue. For the sake of the person who lost his life, don't make it one. It's a failing system vs a failed person.

@@parinikasharma317 Gender-neutral? A man is entitled to alimony or maintenance only if he is “deserving.” And what does that mean? Only handicapped or disabled men get alimony, and even that happens very rarely. But on the other hand, women working at big MNCs are given huge alimony, even when they are the abusers. The law says the wife is entitled to the same lifestyle she enjoyed with her husband. So don’t tell me it’s gender-neutral because it’s not. It’s clearly one-sided and unfair.
