Brutus - founder of Britain - legend or history?

Roman, Greek and British histories all have accounts of Brutus and his role in the founding of the Roman Republic and eventually Britain.
Is he a legend? Or as stated in British/Welsh historical records the real historical founder?
This is the first video in a series looking at the recorded evidence for British history and visiting the sites to see what physical evidence remains.
Wilson and Blackett's book contain a wealth of well-researched and supported historical research away from the conventional story usually referred to.

In the City of London museum, Brutus get's mentioned in only one paragraph, consisting of about 5 sentences. Sad that the story is ridiculed and mocked and labelled a complete fabrication.

I don't doubt that Brutus was involved in the story of Britain, but there is a lot of controversy about the location of Troy. Schliemann's site is too small. There's a theory that the Iliad - the origin of the story told in the Aeneid - is based on a legend borrowed from another culture, possibly the mysterious Phoenicians, as Odysseus is not an indigenous Greek name (that's a problem that classical scholars know but keep quiet about as far as laypeople are concerned). It could be near Lisbon, there is a place near there called Troia, also Felice Vinci suggests that the Trojan War could have taken place in the Baltic. Or somewhere else altogether, who knows? There's another history mystery! I love your videos Ross!

Thanks for the comment and apologies for missing this at the time. It seems that there may have been more than one "Trojan War" with the stories having been mixed together over time. Cambridgeshire in 1100 seems a good candidate for many of the events described by Homer

I read Iman Wilken 'Where Troy Once Stood' and was frankly convinved we have been duped by the mainstream version of events. It is almost an air tight hypothesis. 'Greek' isnt used in Homer once. Was it instead a war over tin, and fought between celtic peoples in Britain?

We have to take a closer look to Albania. -Troja means in Albanian fatherland -The Trojans were Dardanian -Dardania was basically in today Kosovo -then all the former names of England Scotland Albany Albion this is a link to the Albanians

Hi there, great work. An interesting fact is that 'Brit' means Covenant in Hebrew. Alot of Authors like Beaumont and Waddell believe Brit - ain is either covenant land or covenant people.

On that note, any books that deal with the history of Woden in the 2nd-4th century? All the Saxon genealogies date back to him as a patriarch, a real person who later became deified. I know Bill Cooper's work, but if there is any other more detailed works?

Fwiw..in the United States..at least when I was in school.. Arthur and Brutus and the rest of them had two personas. We didn't get a lot of European history, and some of it is downright embarrassing. I'm embarrassed that I actually believed it, but when it comes to characters like this in European history, it's kind of thought that there were actually two. The one that the magical stories was told about and the real one. So we were taught that these people existed.

Thanks for the interesting comment. Its a similar way here is a way. Somehow, Brutus is acknowledged as a well-recorded historical person and in the same breath that everything about him is a myth. Its very strange how this continues. Even the wiki entry has him as pseudo history and then shows some physical evidence referencing him and how he is mentioned in ancient documents from multiple sources. At least you were taught that he/they existed! LOL

So if Noah had children that were dark-skinned, how is it possible he was white? White folks love science, so scientifically how can a white man produce black "dark-skinned" children? The only thing that was white was the people close to the Caucas Mountains

@@RedArrow73 Have to laugh - the minute ANYBODY dares to suggest that ancient Britons might have had black skins, a huge uproar happens....everybody is SO terrified of this idea - what is your problem - ancient Britons were thought by scientists several years ago, per the Genetics, to have dark skins - oh & likely blue eyes too ....the saving grace I suppose. All this hysteria tells me is that you are all a bunch of terrified bigots - you cannot help showing who you are !!! Don't you all realize that who you are is that living soul inside your shell - nothing at all to do with what your outer covering is - nobody chooses that shell ! Good grief people !
