I feel Brian shouldn't have tore into the guys eyeball with his thumb. Most of you have never taken an eye poke or gouge. It feels like your brain is bleeding and you can't see a damn thing. The doctor should 1) do a visual inspection then 2) WAIT. give the fighter time to recover before asking if they can see. What's essentially happening is fighters are being forced to lie and say they can see, and if they do that they get pressured to get back into the fight quickly while handicapped. Bryan is a good fighter but it's his fault this happened. He jammed his thumb into the guys eye now he wants to claim he was faking injury basically. FOH.

He was getting pieced up and did not even give his eye enough time to feel better. Dude told the Dr. he could not see after only 1 minute. If you want to be there you wait the entire 5 minutes before making that decision.

true. I hate eyepoking so fking much cause from being in MMA gyms I learnt that the open finger style is intentional because it stops the guy from rushing in cause he does NOT want his eyes poked. It's like ... grey area cheating. So im bias and anytime I see an eyepoke I just want them to lose immediately. I've seen fighters go rounds with their hands closed - it's not a question of "they can't" it's "they don't want to". In the McKenna fight he literally touched the fighters in an attempt to stop the fight and also verbally commanded the fight was done then urged them to keep going after they stopped and he realized he fucked up. Not sure if commissions have different rules or refs have discretion, but I feel like I watched a fight where an eye poke happened and the fighter initially said they can't see, and the ref told him to just take the entire 5 minutes because his vision could clear up. That ref communicated to the fighter that the fight would be waived off if he can't see, but that the fighter has the right to take 5 minutes. So the fighter took nearly the entire time, then communicated his vision had returned, and the fight continued. I wish I could remember the fight/ref. I just remember the ref being extremely on top of that situation.

Wasn’t a huge fan of Bryan battle on TUF and I watched every fight he’s fought since being in the ufc and from his first fight to now holy fawk he has evolved alot from then til now like dude literally looks like a champion in this fight or a future champion and definitely became a big fan after last night rooting for this guy

One of the best BJJ guys to ever do it Rodolfo Viera had trouble early on with his gas tank in MMA and took a few L’s but he’d NEVER give up or make an excuse for not finishing a fight he was losing. That young man needed to respect the game and take his loss like a man.
