Great videos Mao! You've further inspired me to play Bryan as my second. One thing I've noticed is that Combo 3 is much better with b+2,1,2 as finisher then 3,3,4. Two reasons. First, you do slightly more damage, and second, that makes huge difference, is that you can get far better and easier wall carry. Because after 3,3,4 Bryan recovers slower then from b+2,1,2, and wall hit is cleaner and easier for wall combos. I can easily do running into wall combo: d/f+2,1 d/b+1+2, while with 3,3,4 I don't have a chance. One more thing, I know it is beginner combos, but you should have mentioned d/f+2,1 into d/b+1+2 as wall combo and b+3~f+1+2. Great damage, and often more reliable then b+3~f+3,3,4 (with 4 delayed).

b+3~f means press back and "A" (on xbox) and then the ~ means immediately so in this case it's immediately press forward after the back and A. 1 = X 2 = Y 3 = A 4 = B

I didn't forget, as I don't think beginners need to quite deal with that yet. I intentionally did not include it. The move combo at the wall (u/f+3 -> d/b+1+2) is specifically for better oki, and personally (just my opinion again) is not needed for beginners.

Great video Peter! What will happen if I dont realign Bryan after ss1 or ch f3? Does it just mean the opponent will be pushed to different direction? I normally dont do it as it is a bit tricky.
@PeterYMao3 жыл бұрын
You should always realign with those attacks because they can hit off axis and if you don't get used to realigning there will be times you will miss your combos. If your opponent sidesteps presses a button and gets counter hit then it is even more crucial to realign because you will not be able to get your standard combo otherwise.
@blind_surgeon3 жыл бұрын
That combo at 12:29 whiffs the down 3 almost 90% of the time. The enemy is just too far away after the 1-2-4.
@blind_surgeon3 жыл бұрын
So I figured out a fix in case someone else is having trouble with this. Instead of a dash after the 1-2-4, I use a sprint instead and am able to make it to the opponent in time and get the down 3.

@PeterYMao5 жыл бұрын
Hey Jesse. I’ve broken the combos down into different starters and from which starters the different combos. All in all there are only 5 different combos you need to remember and for the most part they are fairly similar. I would suggest learning the different combo starters and what combos are used for each starter. This will help simplify the process.

There's not much of a trick. You need to dash in very quickly and land the b+3~f+2,1. Dash in quickly after 4,3,4 and dash in deep to hit the b+3~f+2,1. Try delaying the 2 into 1 slightly.

im new to tekken, what would be the benefit of playing bryan over josie. Both kind of look the same in terms of style but josie seems way faster
@PeterYMao5 жыл бұрын
Josie has: -worse wall bounce move than Bryan because it is out of a string and doesn't hit mid -low combo damage on infinite stages -no safe normal hitting launchers where has Bryan has Jet Upper, Orbital Heel, and SS+1 so she requires some commitment to deal big damage aside from counter hits -she doesn't have an unblockable taunt which Bryan does have -does not have a 14 frame launcher where as Bryan does, so she can't punish the same things he can -and she doesn't play keep out as well as Bryan does with his orbital heel and 3+4 Hope that helps :)

Having said all this, you are correct in that the way of playing both characters is very similar. Both characters are looking to land counter hits to net themselves big damage.

Question: Every time you use f+1 in a combo, is it a micro step? because the move looks the same as just 1 for me, and the combo still works.
@PeterYMao5 жыл бұрын
I think the f+1 is more a legacy thing from older Tekken games. In T7 people swear it adds a tiny tiny distance, but in 99.99% of time without the f input is fine. However... you should get into the habit of doing f+1. For example after a SS Bryan can not immediately press 1 but he can press f+1 to get a jab. And there are other instances of its use as well. Hope that helps

I will at some point yes.

Peter Y Mao do you know? That Bryan has a Wave dash? I know that sounds strange to say but he has one
@PeterYMao5 жыл бұрын
Hey Kyle, yes Bryan has some sort of wave dash. Snake dash. I'll do a section in the advanced section of Bryan when I finally get around to it.
@zThe_Questionz5 жыл бұрын
Peter Y Mao Lol okay I’ve always thought it was a funny little thing Bryan can do. It has some potential to do things with, but nothing that I know of out of throwing off your opponent in the first round.
@PeterYMao5 жыл бұрын
Kyle Jackson you are right it is a fun thing to do, but because Bryan doesn’t really have a low out of his snake dash it’s “mostly” useless, but I have some ideas for it

Do you have to use f1 after d/b2? Im able to use 1 and has the same effect
@PeterYMao5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no... (YES) I have just gotten into the habit of doing f+1, and trying to instill f+1 to beginners as this is important for canceling Bryan's crouch dash (CD) into standing jab. As a matter of fact, as far as I know b+3~f~u~f+1 is the only way to cancel Bryan's CD into standing jab. (NO) I think if it mostly as a legacy thing. Back in the older Tekkens people were noticing that there was an ever so slight difference that f+1 covered that 1 did not. As for Tekken 7 I have not done that comparison myself. TLDR... You can probably just use 1 after d/b+2, but you will need f+1 in certain situations to cancel Bryan's CD into standing jab.
@M.A.K.T.5 жыл бұрын
So f+1 will cancel the crouch dash or u have to use u then f+1

im having trouble landing the ending part for the 1st combo i can land b3, hows the timing for the f2, 1?
@PeterYMao5 жыл бұрын
As soon as you hit the b+3 press forward. Like immediately! After the forward you can either press f+2,1 quickly or you can wait a little bit. The f+2,1 timing is a bit flexible. You can either delay it a bit or do it immediately. Hope that helped you out Honey Paradise.

I use an arcade stick. :) Why do you ask?

Peter Y Mao I’ve been switching back and forth between the two for a few months now and was wondering what would be the best to use as a beginner

I dont know whats wrong with me, but the ws2 high damage combo is tilting the fuck out of me. I manage to whiff the last part more often than not (the f+2,1), and I have no idea why. Every other combo was way easier for me, idk how this could be the easiest
@PeterYMao5 жыл бұрын
Alright, so to answer your question certain characters f+2,1 is very hard to land it on so try f+4,1,2 instead. For example, Jack-7 and Yoshimitsu f+2,1 is very hard to land, but f+4,1,2 is easier. Give it a go and let me know how it works out.

Snake edge is great for lower levels of play, but against higher level players, it seldom works. It is best not to get into the habit of it.
