"I'm a servant. I'm here to serve the project." Coming from someone as successful and influential as Nile Rodgers... this is an amazing and inspirational attitude.

it really is. There's a concept in management called 'servant leadership". waaay too few people practice that but Nile is a great example.

BILL ? HELLO. FEEL FINE ? YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL. THIS SITUATION IS UNBEARABLE AND I NEED A NEW PERSPECTIVE . IS SOMETBING LIJE LIVS AT ALL EXISTING FOR YOU ? . Can you feel it ? For me ? Do you finally understand i do NOT LY and never did ? BILL WAS ALWAYS LOVED BY ME. I SEARCJ NOW TO FIND HIS LETTERS . PERHAPS THEY ARE NOW DIFFERENT TO READ THAN BEFORE...IN FACTT I REREAD THEM SO OFTEN TBAT THEY ARE PART OF ME AND I HOPE THEY STILL ARE FILLED WITH LOVE BETWEEN THE LINES AS I ALWAYS BELIEVED. BUTWHEN I THINK OF THE HURT( 5X KICKED AND SLAPPED IN THE FACE AND FOOLED LAST MONTHS UNTIL NOW , IT IS NOT EASY TO ENDURE AND I MUST BE VERY STUPID TO VOLUNTARILY LET MYSELF BE PUSHED AROUND SO.MABE BILL DID THAT WITH ME IN HIS LETTERS BEFORE TOO, INDIRECTLY MANIPULATING ME ? ONE THING ME , CHRISTINA , KNOW 1000 PERCENT: I DID NOT MANIPULATE MY LETTERS, THEY WERE SERIOUS AND WRITTEN WITH TEARS AND HEARTBLOOD. I SWEAR BY GOD. BUT BILL WENT AWAY 1974 TALKED ABOUT BOATBUILDING AND WAITING FOR ME, SUDDENLY INDIA O / AND KIBBUZ, ALL KINDS OF IDEAS....FRIGHTENED ME , BILL DID NOT MAKE SOLID PLANS. AMD I HAD FEAR OF HAVING NO MONEY. BILLAD FROTS. ME E MYSELF TOO , ALMOST ALL. WORKING 3 JOBS SAME TIME. WHAT ELSE SHOUKD I HAVE DONE ? I THINK HERE IS NIT THE RIGHT PLACE TO TALK ABOUT. WE DID ONCE IN 1991 ALREADY.I TOLD open HOW I SAW IT. YOU HELD YOUR TRUE OCCUPATIONS BACK, LET ME RUN AGAINST YOUR WALLS . ? WHY? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND YET. WHAT A SHAME. LOOKINH AT ME iN THOSE FUCKED UP FLOWERSHOPHELLS - they ruined my health , heaart, EXPLOITED WITH MINIMUM PAYS AND F. MOTHER IN THE NECK, AUNT/ TRUEMOM in decline , father being pushed around by mother...s she jealous on me un- derstanding him and his need for quietitude and reading , music. AFTER KICKING ME OUT SHE LET NEW HOUSEOWNER INTO KIDSROOMS UPSTAIRS... REBUILDING DAYS,EVENINGS, WEEKENDS, SO POOR DAD HAD NO MINUTE PEACE AND REST. AWFUL. AND UNFAIR . AND YOU KNEW ALL THE TIME SINCE 1991 THAT I WAS NOT THEIR DAUGHTER . WHY DID BILL LET IT HAPPEN, I MEAN, IF BILL LOVED C, HE COULD HAVE CALLED AND SHOWN HIMSELF AND TELL ME THAT AND START TOGETHER . SAD. FATALIST PASSIVE ATTITUDE. HAS IT CHANGED ? SURE ? I HAD NO INFORMATION AABOUT YOUR TRUE ACTIVITIES, YOU HAD ZLL, SAW THE MISERY, CAUSED BY BILL DENTZEL. NO OTHER RELATIONSHIP LASTED, NONOTHING. SURROGATES, SUBSTITUTE. OBSERVATORY TO KEEP THE HERiTAGE OF DAD FROM TOTAK DESTRUCTION AS THE TOWN WANTED TO N WRECK IT . But all the time I WAS JUST THINKING OF YOU AND THE OBSERVATORYWORK AND FLOWERSHOP AND FRIENDS AND LITTLE CONCERTS HERE AND THERE D I D NOT S A T I S F Y ME . NEEDED YOU, WANTED YOU. YOU KNEW. WHY DID YOU NOT COME AND SAVE ME ? YOU OBSERVED ALL THAT NUMB, DRUGGED. NUMB AND DRUGGED YOU ARE NOT ANYMORE. GOOD. SO YOU MADE A STEP AND SHOWED YOURSELF TO ME WITH YIU ALIASEGO BILLY IDOL AND DISCLOSED YOUR IDENTITY WITH BILL DENTZEL, KAY K.AND HARTMUT WELLE, FRITZ H. ALIAS TOMMY NORDEN.. AND AS MATTHES' FRIEND. YOU DID THAT MAY JUNE 21. Quite much stuff Besides all BILLYIDOL'S ESCAPADES AND PREDECESSORS JIMI HENDRIX, BOB DYLAN,JIM MORRISON, BTIAAN FERRY, JIM MORRISSEY,STEVIE NICKS, KATE BUSH AND SHAKESPEARE'S SISTER AND A COUPLE OF OTHER EXCELLENT MUSICIANS, ALL INSTRUMENTS. AND THAT IS THE TrUTH ? AND IN BETWEEN, YOU ACTED IN MOVIES, WROTE SCREENPLAYS, MADE MODELS FOR STARWAR AND INVEST IN SPACEFLIGHT AS EN ENTERPRISE ? AND BUIKD E CATS AND INVEST IN PHARMA AND PUSH TRANSFORMATION TALKS OF WEF ? AND HAVE TIME TO COMMUMUNICATE WITH ME ? TO BE AGAIN BACK WITH ME AND LIVE AS A COUple ? DETLEF CALLED. ? M YOU ? MAYBE FRIDAY. I KNOW .MISS You. SENSE WOULD BE GOOD.HOPE I FIND OLD LETTERS THIS WEEK. AND BARN PHOTOS. WHY CAN YOU NOT BE A NORMAL GUY , COME, RING THE DOORBELL, IOR WE GO IN THE GARDEN .j

Bryan turns music into art, using musicians like paint on a canvas. So many layers, so many colors to create a mood. It's just bloody great to sit back and let the colors flow over you, instrument by instrument. All gone with modern music.

The more I listen to this album and the better I get to know it, the more I love it. Bryan Ferry is the master of mood, creating an atmosphere, putting feeling into a song. The fine texture of the arrangements (especially on Song to the Siren), all the detail and hard work put into it, and his amazingly warm and velvety voice. He sings with so much feeling and delicacy and his voice just blends in with the rest of the arrangement, becoming one more among the instruments and sticking out at the same time. Especially on Olympia. Listening to his music takes you to another place. Thank you for this documentary, it is so fascinating to see and understand better how it all grows and comes together.

For something made with such a wide variety of musicians from such varied backgrounds, Olympia feels like one of the most solid, together, smooth flowing albums that BF has ever made, possibly my BF favourite along with Taxi. However these two are almost opposites in their feel, Taxi being quite sparse, compared with the denseness of Olympia, too dense in fact to start with, needing for me quite a number of listens before it clicks, and then it really motors along and feels quite expansive. The number of years that Bryan has spent developing some of these songs has certainly enabled him to hone them to perfection. I'll put it together with Manifesto as as my favourite RM/BF records...... Oliver Thompson's guitar playing is especially brilliant on the album and also in concert during the subsequent live tour - he's probably the star of the show despite some of the other stella names who worked on the album ...... Just my opinion, not that anyone would be bothered anyway...!
