Took my sister so was in the K Stand instead of the Stretford. Crowd were still jumping up & down after Robbo's 2nd when Frank got the third. The atmosphere was electric that night & will stay with me forever. Sadly I wont go anymore/again as it's a souless place full of tourists & ways to rinse you of your last penny. Great memories.

My Dad was lucky enough to be there that night. He'd been a match going United fan since the early 1960's, and he said it was the best ever night he'd experienced at Old Trafford. Unfortunately I was too young to go. I didn't go to my first game at Old Trafford until November 1985. Brilliant.

I was there that night. Stood in the old Scoreboard Paddock, in the corner between the then main stand and the scoreboard end for all those too young to know where it was. The best game with the best atmosphere I've ever been to. I was also at the game in the next round against Juventus. We drew 1-1 on that night with half our team missing through injury but lost on aggregate after losing in the first leg with Paolo Rossi getting the all important goal for them in the second leg at OT with Alan Davies equalizing for us. Michel Platini also played for them that night. I went a lot back in those days. I remember it was about £2.20 to get in. Happy times!

Grüße aus Stuttgart.Ich erinnere mich noch voller Begeisterung an diesen Abend im März 1984. Bei uns kam dieses Spiel nicht live . Erst am späten Abend wurde in der ARD eine ca.30 min. Aufzeichnung ausgestrahlt.Ich bekam eine Gänsehaut und hatte Tränen in den Augen.Diese Atmosphäre sah ich danach nur noch selten.Ich mochte diese alten Stadien viel lieber als die heutigen Luxusarenen.Die Fans waren besser. Und vor allen Dingen keine Handys.Nichts gegen die Fans von heute aber das sind größtenteils Eventfans.😅😅😂😂❤❤

I don't know how strong of a team Barcelona were back then but given that they had Maradona and reached the Cup final, I would like to assume they were among the best. Against a side like that Utd finished 3-0 winners, with the current team I'll be glad if they get a similar scoreline against the bottom half of the league, such is the pathetic performance of the current Utd team (3-0 away to Spurs doesn't really count as they were in turmoil themselves at that time).

They were among the best. ManU won on 3-2 (aggregate) we lost 0-2 on first leg of finals. On this time around there was still leg matches for finals.

United finished fourth in the league that season, which was a real disappointment. Juventus were trying to sign Robbo, and it was Juventus who beat us in the semi final. Barca were an average side back then, they won one league title in the 70s and one in the 80s, after Maradona had left. Maradona hadn't become the great we know him to be, he would achieve that status at Napoli.
