That handle extension is for handicap usage. Tesla has recently even designating certain stalls handicap priority stalls and you will find that handle extension on them which is supposed to as them easier to use by allowing more grip and handling options and longer extension for the grip
@bryanhauer
@bryanhauer Жыл бұрын
Oh, great to know! I saw the stall next to me was handicap as I pulled in, but not that one or the next one I moved to, but maybe missed it. Luckily there is over 50 stalls at that Supercharger 😀 Unfortunately there was something wrong with that one anyways. Good info to know though.

Thanks for showing me another great place to stop near Mt Shasta! You have to go up onto the mountain and do a hike! It's the only place I've been where my ears ring because of the complete lack of sound. I just did Gray Butte trail and it ends with an amazing view of Mt Shasta. Bunny Flats was a great hike, too. It would be worth camping up there! It's an amazing place!

Thanks! I'll definitely head up there next time. Speaking of ears ringing due to lack of sound... I had that happen when doing a hike on Mt Charleston in NV. Was so eerily quiet my ears rang. First time I experienced that. Thanks so much for watching and hope all is going well for you 😀

Another great video. I’ve really been enjoying this travel series. Besides suggesting an Origami kayak, which I noticed someone else also suggested, you should consider looking into a 12V charger for your bike battery for better charging efficiency. You’re definitely taking a a couple hits in efficiency by going from your solar generator’s DC battery, through the AC inverter, then through the bike charger’s transformer only to get back to DC charging. Lectric apparently does not offer one but, if you’re interested, a quick look at the AC charger’s specs should tell you what you need in a third party DC charger. Just a thought. Take care on your journey!

Thanks so much for watching 😀 I've already done videos on home charging and Supercharging so what info specifically are you looking for? If you're worried about how charging degrades your battery, don't. It's already been proven it's so minimal that there's no point. Ryan Shaw listed a study in a video I think from a week or two ago that showed there's virtually no impact that noticeable enough to care about.

I was waiting for a M3 to finish charging a few weeks ago. He had a cargo carrier on the back like you have but he took up three spaces. He must not have thought he could still back into the spot with the carrier.

Oh wow! 🤣 I've never had an issue at any Supercharger pulling in normally. Took me a couple times to get it down and easy peasy 👍🏻 I saw a Model 3 the other day with no cargo box or anything on it parked dead in the middle of two spots for no apparent reason other than... he sucks at life 🤷‍♂️ I was leaving so didn't even bother seeing wth he was up to.

When on autopilot and passing a semi, if the semi moves too close to your car, will the Tesla move over and hug the left side of your lane? My Subaru Outback will not and I shut off lane centering (but leave on cruise control) when passing a semi on twisty portions of I5.
@bryanhauer

It does and will also alert you when they start coming in your lane.

@@bryanhauer thanks.I often drive from Seattle down I5 to San Diego and the wind can move a semi right over into your lane. This advantage that Tesla has over other cars lane centering is not well known.

This was filmed a few months ago before I installed it 😀 I still have mine installed and use it often. Only tip if you do get one is don't over fill it as the cool air won't get down to the bottom if there's too much stuff at the top blocking it. Other than that, it's been great cause it's so out of the way. 👍🏻

Roof rack or hitch for cargo? Pros and cons? I saw some of your older videos with the roof rack. It looks awesome but the range killer it is!!
@bryanhauer
@bryanhauer Ай бұрын
I prefer the rear hitch cargo box for three reasons… 1. Way less range loss. About 5% vs 25% or higher on the roof rack. 2. Much quieter with virtually no noise. Rooftop has a lot of wind noise. 3. More versatile. Can more easily get into, can cook on, move out of way. One con is the weight limit on the Model Y rear hitch. You only end up with about 75 lbs to play with. That’s fine for me since I fill it with clothes, camping gear and other lightweight stuff that takes up a lot of room, but isn’t very heavy. I fill it completely.
@Jlui83
@Jlui83 Ай бұрын
@@bryanhauerah thanks for the reply. I currently don’t have the roof rack or a hitch on my model y. Thinking of getting either or right now to add some more cargo space. Roof rack def looks better IMO but that range loss and worry of cracking the roof has me on edge lol. I’m leaning on getting a hitch and then some carrier and box. Not sure if I need that swing arm. Looks nice but wonder without the swing arm and just a carrier and box couldn’t put more weight.

I enjoy your videos. I have a MYLR23. I love to go camping but my favorite camping spot is up a winding dirt mountain road and I’m worried about clearance. In the past I took a Chevy Silverado. Have you had any experience on your travels with doing winding dirt mountain roads? If so, I would love to hear your feedback.

I have. I've done everything a light truck could do. You can watch my Zion National Park video where I go up some windy dirt roads and never had much of an issue. Obviously it has its limits, but I've taken it "off-road" quite a few times. The AWD performs great! Here's the Zion video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npqbmKl4atung5Isi=H6ZU9JpuStR_9VWW

@@bryanhauerFor forest service roads, I believe a minimum of 8” ground clearance is recommended, which I don’t think Tesla has. I wish it did. This is why I travel and camp in a Subaru Outback. Our around town car is a Nissan Leaf.

@@MechayaAlta "Recommended" is the key word. Never had an issue. Just have to know the cars limits. I've been all over off-roading throughout the west. Of course I know when it's not safe or a smart idea for the car and don't take those roads, but it can absolutely be done.

do you find an anytime fitness membership has a lot of showering availability? what other gym memberships do you have? more broadly what apps so you suggest for prolonged trips
@bryanhauer
@bryanhauer Жыл бұрын
Hi Connor - I do find most Anytime Fitness clubs have showers and I only pay around $35/mo so it's a great value if you travel a lot. I've heard Planet Fitness has a lot of locations with showers as well. For travel I suggest the Platinum AAA membership and app, Plugshare app along with a few of the charging apps like Electrify America, Chargepoint, Shell Recharge and EVGO. Probably a good travel/hotel app and the apps The Dyrt and Campendium for finding camping destinations along with the Recreation.gov app for booking them. Hope that helps!
