That aircraft carrier did not look close enough to kill your MCV Yard. That surprised me too. Since the resolutiion is so high it is deceptive how far units can really shoot but in the OG RA2 resolution that Aircraft Carrier would have shot off the screen.

He probably thought that it's not a present but a basewalk attack or smth. The tension is so strong, sometimes you don't think the right way during the game. If he only deployed an MCV but did not build war factory and barracks, it may have seemed more obvious that it was a gift.
