Sorry you got sick. We stayed 7 nights at Kodachrome State Park, too. We had full hookups in the Basin campground section. We used it as our base for visiting Bryce, Escalate, & Zion. Sleeping at a lower elevation helps with the altitude sickness.

Burr Trail Rd (Escalate Nat'l Monument) at Boulder Utah off scenic Hwy 12 is like going to Zion without the crowds & shuttle buses.

We are currently doing a tour of Utah big 5 national parks. I have altitude sickness but able to tolerate Grand Canyon and other Utah parks. But boy, Bryce was the pit. We checked in for one night at Ruby's Inn and checked out at 2am because I was having severe altitude sickness. I couldn't breathe, I was having anxiety and my blood pressure was through the roof!. After checking out at 2 am, we headed to Cedar City emergency room. I changed my mind and just took extra doses of my BP med and went half a day early to Zion. I felt better at Zion (Springdale) at 3k plus elevation.

Bless your heart! Elevation sickness is very scary! After we left Bryce I stopped taking my medicine and forgot about it.. then on the way home our last stop was Mesa Verde. I was so excited about that park… well guess what the elevation sickness came back at 6500’. We left, I never toured the park and we headed home! Zion was great right? Did you watch our Zion Video. That was my favorite park. I also loved Fruita Campground at Capital Reef. How long is your trip… oh the emergency room visit cost me $700 after insurance.. good for you to manage to stay away. What State are you from?
