Bryce’s Gorge Walk, Alpine National Park - December 2024

I have done that walk twice. BTAC cleared the track from Guy's hut down to Dry River. It is a true wilderness area. It took 2 or 3 working bees to complete the work. The route has been recut and tagged with new track markers. It does offer an alternative route out of the Wonnangatta Valley rather than the Zeka Spur track. However Bryce's gorge car park is a reasonable distance from the Howitt Plains car park. Perhaps having two cars would work better if walking the Viking Circuit and using this alternative route out of the Wonnangatta Valley.

Yes… it would be a fair road bash without two cars… actually that’s probably the main reason I’ve never walked down to Wonnangatta that way… I normally do the Viking Circuit from the Howitt Carpark as I’ve only ever got the one car🤷‍♂️

Love this types of walks... pity about the four hour drive to get here though.

Yes, it’s a long drive… probably best done on a weekend away or if you are in the area walking somewhere else I think.🤔

Lovely relaxing walk. Beautiful vic southern sub alpine ranges. Spent a few nights at guys hut in winter acessing howitt. Certainly feels remote and like a step back in time. See any wild dogs on your travels?

Not on this one… I saw some carcasses a few days later on McMillans Track over near Cobungra.
