i think in the gas pump one it was the rubber in the hose losing some of its elasticity due to the cold. rubber gets less flexible the colder it gets, eventually becoming entirely solid at about -70. some gas can freeze at -40, which is technically a possible temperature in some locations but others have to get all the way down to -200 which isnt happening outside of a lab or outer space

So gas can absolutely freeze. Not only that, but diesel actually freezes faster than gas because diesel actually has a bit of water in it. It’s a major problem that requires a lot of antigel fuel treatment so your fuel isn’t gelling up and ruining your truck.
