Just turned 34 this past September. Last summer is when I really committed to golfing. Best idea I ever made. Boy does this game teach you a lot about life huh? I always went about it with an open mind, and trying everything here on youtube. One thing I've found that is super consistent... using your body the way it was intended to be used. I love the "robot" aspect of it. This summer was a transformation. I had a teacher that golfs with me nightly ask me... what is it that I rely on. I told him I try to be robotic. When I'm doing my preshot, I put my arms out in front of me with club in the air... and make sure I'm swinging the same way when I tilt towards ball. He started doing it... and he started hitting amazing shots. It was utterly AMAZING knowing that I helped someone out by just being more simplistic. Good stuff Todd. Cheers to you and yours from MN

there's a difference between induced tension that's a controlled/wanted thing VS a stress tension that's not controlled. we call that "Antagonism". they are movements and tension that the brain doesn't control. like when you are freezing and shaking because of cold. we can't control that type of stuff because it's a bioreflex from the body. stress can induce that kind of thing. hence why you need to be relaxed in order to put the right tension in your swing. the controlled one.

Robert Dedman, founder of ClubCorp, used to say "The first olive out of the jar is the toughest". What he meant was that pioneers are never accepted by traditionalists who say "We've never done it that way." In my recent and limited knowledge of the Single Plane Swing, I assume Bryson is the first to use it so effectively on the PGA Tour. My question: Given that he was the "first olive", why have no (?) other PGA pros followed his example and become successful by changing to the SPS? Do you anticipate this will happen? btw, did you train Bryson during his conversion?
@zero2herogolf4 жыл бұрын
15:52 - 100% agree. It really is about strategy. If Bryson knows he can have a great angle and unhindered entrance into the green, then he should bomb it down there. And by contrast, for those that can't or won't bomb it, then fairways is the best strategy. With Moe's single plane swing, I can consistently keep my distance from the ball at address, which translates into very straight shots (I mean no curving at all if I want) and almost always in the fairway. It just makes the game so much easier and a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!!

@Tonetruk3 жыл бұрын
My thought on being relaxed and being tense, would be that a conventional golf swing requires you to be relaxed, so that your body is capable of moving with so many variables. Being stiff goes against everything conventional, and relaxing just doesn't work with a single plane swing, I've experienced this personally with the single plane swing, when I'm not tense and taunt I make bad shotsimplementing, but it works peeps.
@criticalhistory20233 жыл бұрын
the thing also is that high handicaps swing loose until the downswing where they get tensed with their arms or hands, and fuck up the whole thing....so this robot is controled tension, and for a high hcp that is the best thing, cause they arent able to swing loose and sincronize well all the parts of the body... overall i think its more natural to the human body to play like this, more simple

Relaxed muscles are faster than tight muscles, right or wrong ? I was thought that for donkeys
@ToddGravesGolf2 жыл бұрын
Well. This statement needs context. Muscles relax and contract. that is how they move the joints in your body. When your muscles are Contracted, they have difficulty moving the joints. For example, when your bicep contracts (curl) you are actually relaxing your tricep. when your arm straightens, you are relaxing your bicep and contracting your tricep. The question is - which way to do you want to make your arm move quickly - curl it or straighten it? In the context of the golf swing, there are some muscles that are stabilizing joints (contracted) while others are relaxed. Both things are happening during the golf swing motion.
@jamesskilton26054 жыл бұрын
I was always taught that tension in the forearms (i sometimes strangle the club, wringing it's neck - 10/10 on the tension scale) prevents / severely inhibits the wrists from hinging correctly. Just another example of how many ways you can play good golf. Moe Norman was a bit of a one-off and watching you is like watching him. However, my thinking is that if this was 'the way' then everyone would be teaching it. Even Bryson himself said his swing is unusual and works for him upto a point and that when he really goes for it, the swing puts a lot more strain on his body meaning he's more prone to injury, hence why he doesn't 'go for it' all the time, In addition he's been to the gymn and put on a lot of muscle. Cameron Champ has a more conventional swing but with extraordinary hips speed/flexibility and he hits the ball similar distances, but he has done it without the need for all the extra muscle. Fascinating video though.

Todd Graves here says you got to “commit” to a shot, then execute. Nicklaus said you need courage - and I think that is part of “committing” to the swing, to be willing to not doubt yourself. Well, if you doubt yourself maybe you need to study your swing more? OR maybe you should step back and think about you swing more so you have the right swing thoughts before you take your stroke. What pisses me off is forgetting my swing mechanics, just not feeling it, and needing to just hit the shot anyway because I cannot hold up my group thinking about my swing longer. This guy knows his swing and so well he can chat while playing.
