BS NURSING as PRE-MED COURSE in the PHILIPPINES
Hi, everyone! I’m Fate Cunanan a medical doctor for the Philippines. I remember most of the interviews we had and one of the most frequently asked question during Med School, Clerkship and Internship was, “Anong pre-med mo? Anong batch? Saan ka nag pre-med?”
Ano nga ba ang best pre med for Medicine? For today’s episode, we will be talking about BS NURSING as Pre-Med Course in the Philippines. This one's closest to my heart so I hope you will learn from my co-clinical instructors and co-doctors. We will be joined by Dr. Jayson Olalia, Dr. Neil Espiritu and Dr. Angela Panlilio to help us understand more of the course details. Thank you for this, Doc! I'm kinda in a dilemma between BS Nursing and BS Biology. I just really want to consider the priority courses from different scholarships that I have seen (that are also accredited by the univs I want to attend) and most of them are BS Biology T^T. My parents are okay with BS Nursing however, I'm afraid of how much it will cost and +++med school.

Nakaka sad lang sa part na ngayon kasi walang clinical exposure dahil sa Pandemic. Pangarap ko din maging Doctor pero Anaestheisiologist gusto ko (taas ng pangarap ko Hahahaha) 😂🤣🤣🤣

If you're a nurse whose life circumstances, whatever that maybe, hinder you from pursuing Medicine, yet you still want to someday practice as a provider a.k.a. physician, then you can always pursue an APN Master's degree (i.e. NP, CRNA, Nurse-Midwife) or be a PA. But, that is if you live in a country that utilize these careers whose work was traditionally that of a physician. Unfortunately, these careers don't exist in the Philippines though.

May balak po sana akong magshift from bs radiologic technology to bs nursing, but I realized po na I don't want too much exposures inside the hospital and that I'm an introvert so it's kinda awkward for me to interact with the patients but I also want to pursue it since nurses are one of the most in-demand jobs and many hospitals do really need nurses

Hello! Incoming first year medicine this. My pre med was Nursing. We had medical and surgical nursing on our 3rd and 4th year. We were exposed to different surgical cases. Basically, overview lang yun. Ako kase nagexperience muna ako ng 2 years as an OR- Nurse at dun ko palang talaga naapply ang natutunan ko sa nursing. Dun ka rin talaga magkakaron ng chance maobserve lahat kase 1 on 1 na minsan ang turo from surgeons and senior nurse.. malaki tulong ng nursing as premed kapag nagawa mo muna siya bago ka magmed. Pero kapag diretso ka sa med after ng nursing, still you have a good foundation since yun naman ay naituro na mas papalawakin lang sa medicine. 😊

We do not more of Biology if dissection of animals :) you can check their video about it too!! :) i was able to do dissection of frog but not in my premed early in HS pa :)
