I had Pellets jamming and shaving in the 2 R10se rifles I owned. Shot ok on the level but when hunting shooting up at angle while keeping the rifle on the rest and cycling the bolt both rifles jammed or damaged pellets when loading . I often lost the chance to bag a second bird, If you own a BSA rifle try testing it by safely shooting from a gun rest at a angle cocking and shooting the rifle at various angles to see if it jams.

I’ve had mine in bits today to have a look what’s going on. I am going to chuck it up in the lathe in a fixture I have made so that I can deepen the o ring groove ever so slightly. There isn’t much material to play with but if it fails, I will be remaking the anodised part on the CNC machine. If either of these methods are successful, I will be happy to modify other magazines for people for a very small cost, or i could provide a new inner for the magazines

That was my thought too. I can't see changing o-rings helping as they will only sit at the same level. If the new o-ring is too fat, it could even prevent it sitting in the bottom of the groove and make matters worse. Yes, the o-ring needs to sit deeper across the pellet aperture. By the way, if you think that magazine is fiddly, try a Daystate Wolverine mag!

Day 1 out of the box and it jammed, yes it pulled pellets back into the block, there is a side plate on the block, remove this and the pellets fall out....The cause was the magnet came out of the mag and jammed the the mag, sent back to BSA, returned in a week with a free mag. Araldite the magnets and since then I've put 2k pellets through it and no issues (using only BSA Gold). Never had issue with pellets falling out.
@mikenesbitt4218 Жыл бұрын
This issue also occurred on my .22 Ultra CLX. Again BSA say user issue but I found a pellet stuck to the probe and pulled back into the mechanism even when pointed downwards. I agree the main issue is the size of the aperture into the trigger mechanism and ill fitting of pellets into those very expensive magazines. Shorter pellets seemed to be the main culprit whereas JSB Exact seem to fit better.

It's disgusting how the after service department immediately tell a customer that they are they are the issue when they have had the same complaints from numerous owners of a new to market rifle . I've always believed that the rifles most reviewer's get have been thoroughly checked , tweaked and tuned by the factory before they get sent out , it's either that or most reviewers are dishonest liars and aren't telling us how the rifle broke down on them and needs more QC.

If you are replacing any o ring on the internals of your rifle make surevyou know the shaw ratting of the rubber it's made from , a lot of people go to the normal DIY shops and buy loads thinking they will do the job , they won't if they are holding any kind of air pressure , that's where specific Shaw ratings are required, I'd recommend looking for the white o rings that best fittings and others sell , they last a lifetime , actually I've never had one fail on me , they are great for the oring needed on the bottles of the r tens and 12s .

Very disappointing to see bsa's brand new flagship rifles are not being thoroughly tested at the factory before getting sent out , back in 2008 when bsa revealed the pictures of its new ( yet to go on sale ) flagship rifle that was retiring the super ten ,people were excited , the prototype rifle looked leagues above the super tens ,a quick fill and a gauge , that was a major thing back then , so in 2009 when the first r tens ( the mk1) started to hit shelves , they sold instantly , however most people who bought one were back at the gunshop within a few days , the regulators used in the rifles were failing massively , usually it was power inconsistencies that were the problem ( in turn causing accuracy issues ) . It's a shame the r tens started off so bad , bsa eventually did a MK2 r ten before even releasing that model , the mk 1s ended up with re worked regulator's getting installed ( just to get the rifles to sell ) I bought one of the re worked mk 1s and it served me well for 2 years , not one problem at all . I then bought a super carbine MK2 , again no problems and never once broke down in the 2 years I kept if for .

Sounds like they cut the o ring groove in both calibres to the same depth, when drilled for .22 the o ring sits deeper so it holds the pellet firmer. This is a fundamental machining error on bsa’s part. Try making the groove deeper?
@lucidtouchstone3924 Жыл бұрын
Okay, I've got a BSA R 10 and R12. The R10 magazine used to misfeed the pellets occasionally. I took the magazine's apart, removed O ring and used a junior hacksaw to cut a deeper groove. End result is a tighter group and no missfeads. R12 is mangling pellets but it's metal so not sure if the same treatment will work. I think it's outrageous that we spend a lot of money and are then told it's user error. It's not user error but a failure to properly test the design. Perhaps we could start a group and gather enough people to put pressure on BSA to fix this design error?

for £1000 imo there should be NO "quirks" or issues with a gun, for that much money i want flawless. maybe thats unrealistic but if its not flawless for that money i wont buy it. i saw reviews of the Ultra CLX by bsa (£650 rifle) had the mounting nut for the stock too far forward so it caused leverage and also had very little wood on the actual stock to stop the bolt pulling through, also the mag springs were too tight and took shavings off the skirts of pellets and built up in the gun. i got my first PCP today, gamo phox starter kit, pump and all that for £530, it doesnt have a single one of these issues. it really feels like BSA dropped the ball on the "CLX" stuff which is a shame cause it was supposed to be a show of their optimal engineering, the pinnacle of 160 years of being in business, and they all end up having issues. damn shame.

I can't understand these BSA fanboys. Can you imagine buying a brand new car and immediately having to take it apart and replace parts of the engine with after maket bits to get it to run properly and then telling everyone it was a fantastic car? This is not the first video I've watched listing BSA problems, which wouldn't be so bad if it was a £500 gun from China but for the price its disgraceful. A few years back I bought a new FAC BSA R10SE which turned out to have a sticky bolt and an inconsistent regulator. The RFD sent it back to BSA who seemed to have just pumped a load of grease around the bolt. It was no better. Got lots of on-line advice from other owners, like sending it to 3rd party whizz kids who would replace bits and tweak this and that (£££) after which I would have a marvelous rifle! Are you kidding me? It was rapidly swapped for an Air Arms S510 FAC which cost about the same at the time and which worked perfectly out of the box and through a few years of wet weather and cold winters doing pest control. At the same time I also had a new HW100 sub 12 which, like the S510, worked perfectly out of the box.

Try better fitting pellets. I have never had a single issue after many thousands of pellets through it. I have the .177

@Urban Spaceman C'mon now. A rifle at this price which is supposed to be the epitome of 160+ years of BSA air rifle manufacturing better damn well have a magazine that holds and cycle ALL the standard pellets wouldn't you agree?
@sibfishingadventuresuk1558 Жыл бұрын
@@jakobiller yea absolutely totally agree

Air arms on 5.52 for the 22 or 4.52 for 177

You would expect better from a UK made air rifle with the heritage that BSA had. User error, what a joke. You should just be able to buy and shoot for the next 10 years or more, with a bit of servicing. Do you know if the Ultra CLX's have the same issues as someone wants my Air Arms S510 that has been trouble free for the last eight years in part ex for one.

That's bang out of order and blaming the problem on user error .that's the best they can come up with that's a terrible excuse!!!!

Not fit for purpose. Return for refund would be my advice.

Just change the o rings simple as that no more problems don't get all the fuss.

Problem is .. it was £1200 plus didn't work out the box didn't work after the orings and still didn't work after bsa had it back so .. yea that's the fuss

It is a user error, why would you ever point the barrel upwards. Even level is fine.

Most of the issues came while bench shooting.. this is an hunting rifle
@shaunjones6049 Жыл бұрын
95% of my shooting is Hunting Crows pigeon, squirrel, which nearly always involves shooting up into trees. Unfortunately BSA Rifles are not fit for this purpose and worse still BSA have a long record of producing models with the same faults. I can only assume that the BSA management don’t really care about the quality or reliability of their products only making a quick buck , The fate of a lot of Uk businesses ,is management who have no interest in the product just short term profits. It will finish the company 😔one day.
