Ha..ha.. you are a honest and humble person I can feel it by the way you share your stories. This one is funny and sad at the same time. However you could manage up to Texas from Cambodia without knowing English. Great! You should be proud of yourself
You have a good story to tell. Next time someone who doesn't speak English should have someone else to write a letter for you and just hand the letter to fly attendant or gate worker. They will help you to your destination. If you compare your story with my story, I was very young adult in 1980 and escaped Cambodia into Thailand alone. Imagine walking in the forest alone with other travelers who rode bicycles into Thailand to buy goods. I walked into Norng Chan camp in March 1980. No money and doesn't speak any foreign language. People who come to American in the 90's or later are lucky people. They just flown into the US without doing any hardship.
