Optometry courses focus on eye care, vision, and visual system. An optometrist is a term given to a healthcare professional who is capable of prescribing and dispensing vision, lens correction, and diagnosing eyes diseases In India, optometry courses are offered in many paramedical/ medical colleges in the form of certificates, diplomas, and a bachelors degree. To start as a qualified optometrist, pursue a bachelor’s degree. B.Sc. in optometry, bachelor in optometry, etc. The UG courses are generally 4 years long i.e. 3 years education course and 1-year mandatory internship. To apply after 12th, one must be a minimum of 17 years of age and from the PCB stream with English as one of the subjects. Admission will be based on the valid score of EYECET 2022 or relevant examination. You can pursue M.Sc. in optometry if you have a keen interest to know more about this stream. Bitter Truth about optometry in India:🔥🔥🔥 1.Starting salary scale is about 15k per month (9 am to 5 pm) 2.There is no any licensing exam system after bachelor. Even 10th class failed without any certificate can open eye clinic and do examination themselves. 3.There is no any regulating body to take action against optician or optical owner who dont have optometry degree but examining patient. Even 10 class failed person are examining patient. 4.If you are hired at Lenskart then you should clean specs and gogs, keep store neat and clean ,serve water to customer beyond examining patient. 5.70% of University do not have their own hospital for practical exposure. 6.There is no better placement at government level.
