Day 4 of Eric's archery elk hunt. This hunt proved to be challenging in just about every aspect there is. We learned a lot from this experience and are humbled to be able to take this animal from his home back to ours.

I don't usually comment on videos much but I need to say that I have much Respect for you Eric. Your determination is overwhelming. Not too many so called hunters would take the time to actually go out and track and chase a potential kill like this. I have seen and also known hunters that if they can't find the kill within 200 or 300 feet of where they shot it they just leave without even trying to find it. That is not the case for this group that you belong too. The Hushin crew are what it is all about. The true friendship and perseverance you all show for each other is remarkable. Thanks for showing us the raw emotion after you finally completed your task and dispatched that elk. He sure had the will to live is all I can say. Oh yeah by the way you finished this hunt on my Birthday Sept 09th. Congrats again and thanks for keeping it real. Tom

I really appreciate this small little series that you posted on your Channel. The fact that you guys you and particular where this transparent and honest with how this hunt unfolded says a lot about your character. I don't know any other channel I've ever watched in 20-something years that has ever been this transparent even really honest hunting groups big game hunting groups have never been this transparent. Most of us hunters weather it's archery rifle a muzzleloader has been there at least at one point in their life and knows exactly how you feel and what you're going through. Thank God you are in the country that you're in you can continue to chase this animal down and finish it off. Other parts of the country you would never have gotten the second chance you would have never found that bull again let alone seen it. This is heartbreaking for a hunter it's hard for other Hunters to watch because we know what you're going through and how gut-wrenching that feeling is. But to your credit you stuck with it through the lowest of lows and you finish the bull off. That is incredibly honorable to do. Unfortunately there are a lot of hunters out there that would have just said f*** it and let that bull run off with one maybe two arrows in it and let it dying never have looked for it or bothered with it again and moved on to a different animal I've known Hunters who have done that I've seen Hunters who have done that and it's the really disgusting attribute. But again you stuck with it through the lowest of lows so my hat's off to you brother.

As a retired WL biologist and fellow elk hunt (longbow) your honesty is refreshing and always has been. I yearn for those years of run and gun pressure hunting longing for one to play the game but those days are gone. Is encouraging to know is still possible on public land. Is unfortunate that every western elk state has ruined their limited draw system with preference and the right to buy a preference point rather than apply. I feel for future firearm hunters. Thanks for fantastic videography. Enjoy thar great hunting years because eventually the years catch up to you and you can no longer hump a 1/4 by yourself or run to the top of the ridge. Thanks for your willingness to share.

I know I’m two years late on finding this but just wanted to throw one more comment in there that I appreciate you sticking with it and making it happen and furthermore I appreciate you showing the emotional side, it should hurt you when that happens so thanks for letting people see that part of hunting. The kill is exciting and should be celebrated but when you lose sight of the fact that you had to take a life to get that reward it’s unfortunate and so many people do lose sight, so thank you for showing how it should feel when this happens! Got a fan for life after this video. Oh and nice bull!

Yeah bow hunting takes a certain skill set and not taking questionable shots. I'm not running anyone down because it's hard to tell but that first shot looked questionable at best. A long shot on an alert bull usually doesn't end up well and a person who hints as much as these guys do should know that but like I said by the video it's hard to tell. The Hush guys sure injure their fair share of animals that they don't recover it seems

Dude I feel you man. I hit my first archery buck this year, made a glancing shot off the leg and it missed vitals and exited gut, I tracked him for 6 hours, no blood, lost track and just went to grid mode. Finally found him, waited him out, till he rolled over and faced the opposite way, snuck in and made 2 more shots through the top of the back, hit heart and lung and he finally expired... I know the feeling you just went through and the only thing that saved me from hating myself, thanks to the motivation of a buddy, was sticking through it and finding him to finish the job! Good work brother! We all learned from that hunt, thank you!

Like you said, it isn't always pretty but you did what you thought was a good decision when you pulled back the string and let fly. I've also been there during my many years of hunting and it's the worst feeling in the world to know a wounded animal is still on it's feet after hundreds of yards of tracking. "Fred Bear said it perfectly"... Good Job my friend !

It's good to see the emotion behind this hunt. This type of experience can make or break a hunter. It just goes to show the respect you have for the animal and the hunt. I wish there was more people like that. Hunting is physically demanding but I would argue it can be just as emotional. Thank you for not giving up. You did the right thing.

Your ethics are what got you through this tough hunt, hard to watch the bull suffering but you persevered and finished it admirably, thanks for sharing this with us.

Mad respect for the way you guys stuck it out. Everyone can see by the way you react it is a hard thing and not everyone has the morales and fortitude to stick with it like you did.

Just the stocking, chase and composure to take a best shot possible was awesome to watch. We that hunt know that the shot placement is the key to everything. You did your best and it all ended well. Nothing but thumbs up from this elk hunter!
