I think power surge is a high risk high reward. Power shield is more reliable and helps you win many close interactions you wouldnt win with power surge. So i still think power shield is better

To everyone here talking about how the shield one provides more dps : DPS is not the main objective of the game. All high rank players and esports players know this and its the main reason why Stu had such a high ban rate in the world cup despite of his underwhelming dps. Mobility, range also matter. The power surge gadget isnt just about "free level cuz u suck and cant hit shots" it also has benefits like getting movement speed buff early game to charge super faster and get to stage 3 and dominate pretty early game and gain area control or sometimes catch enemy offguard when you are level 2 and get that instant range buff using gadget when u dont have your super ready. Power surge is all about mechanics, While power shield is all about dps and tank countering. Both gadgets have their ups and downs : Like power surge being no help when you are already level 3 or 4 but if you have good mechanics you can use power surge to its advantage early game or if you die and need stage 3 quick , Power shield being not much help when all enemy brawlers outrange surge/ are burst dps brawlers but is insanely difficult to counter when you play short range tanks. Since in most high trophy or esport games, situations dont usually arise where enemies charge on a surge head on and keep their distance, power surge becomes the better alternative, and in lower rank or trophy games, people like to play stupid offensive with usual tank picks like mortis clancy kenji,etc power shield tends to be the better option.

at around 3:00 you literally wasted a gadget, and if you didnt wast it but push and use it as soon as your ammo is low and you start to get shot it it insanely usefull and most of the times if you are not lvl 4 you would need this gadget to kills tanks because of their hp compared to your dps

Literally one gadget is for more opened maps and the other one is made for closer maps, it literally depends. But power shield makes surge unpushable by tanks, assassins or brawlers with jumping ability, and giving reliability on the gadget too than on the super only, because surge without super is easely killable. The point of power shield is to cover the fact of him being a slow recharge and low dps brawler, plus the gadget takes skill to use and time, you can't just activate it and always get value from it. In conclusion power shield covers surge's weak points, while the other gadget just makes it easier for him to get stage 2, so imo it isn't necessary to use it in maps where surge is good, but in more opened maps

Honestly, in solo showdown, I prefer the shield one because I can almost always get the 3 taps for stage 2 at the beginning, but if u are newer to surge, I recmomend the stage boost gadget. The reason shield is so nice in showdown is because if you time the gadget well, you can pretty much laser down a tank with 5 surge hits because of surge's fast unload speed. In 3v3s, the stage 2 gadget is often a necessity so I suppose Shield for showdown Stage boost for 3v3s anyway great vid as usual

Power shield is just better tho bro, if you have trouble trying to get levels at the start then ok, you could use power surge, but power shield is just better overall. of course power surge is good for open maps but surge is bad in that thrash bushy bounty map anyway but i think when you got level 2 power surge is kind of uselles u can surprize your enemies with extra ramge but it isnt game changning i think. and surges reload speed is slow so when in showdown or close maps i prefer the power shield gadget and on open maps power surge because you cant play surge in open maps without power surge gadget but i dont play surge in open maps and my opponents are not so pro players that can get me hardstuck on level 1 so i prefer power shield. but on world finals or against pro players power surge is better but in showdown power shield is obviously better the reason snakethug prefers power shield is because he is a showdown player (im a showdown player too) consclusion: open maps and 3v3: power surge maps with wall and showdown: power shield

I like SZGusta's videos but I still prefer Power Shield. Surge has a slow reload speed and the shield not only adds protection to the brawler, but also allows it shoot 2-3 more shots at the enemies. In a 1v1 interaction, this gadget would be better. Also, I bought Power Surge and the first game I used it I died to a MORTIS. So I never used it again.

Pro players mostly use the power surge gadget because even getting the first stage is essential in early game, and good opponents will NOT feed your super or will just hardcounter you with a thrower/ long range. So, yes, the shield gadget is better against tanks and casual players, but against pros the power surge gadget is just more recommended. I got to legendary the second day of the season and i was being matched up against previous masters pros all the time, and when using surge, lemme tell you, i wasnt even able to get the first level, which ended up in me being useless the whole game.

I believe there are different play styles, when using power shield I usually bait the enemy to come close to me and destroy them, this way I get both control and stage 2. I got 1150 with randoms with this strategy so it probably works. The other one also works just in a different way

Power surge allows surge to have an advantage against other surges and allows surge to have a better playing field against brawlers which counter surge, however it does have the disadvantage of being useless when surge hits stage 4, you can get even more value out of this gadget in sd with split star power, when u r stage 3 Power shield allows surge to counter tanks and assasins even further, if you have power shield you are almost unkillable to tanks with less bursr damage like mortis. You can get a ton of value out od this by protecting yourself when you are low ammo, due to surge poor reload. However, surge reload speed is enough as long as you dont miss a lot Overall, imo surge projectiles are fairly easy to hit and he doesent really need power shield, more like a buff to his kit, but power surge allows him to level up the playing field against diff brawlers. Overall, with the amount of surges in sd and ladder nowadays, i would defo use power surge cause it is a big advantage against other surges Also pls stop “use power surge if ur bad”

Brother, I'm not talking about casual play. For reference, Yoshi (pro player from SK) is a good Surge but he got hard stuck on level 1 Surge for 2 whole games on world finals and that was literally the cause of SK losing worlds. He was using power shield, every pro were screaming about it. The gadget was completely useless against good players. When I say something is better I'm not talking about 900🏆 gameplay or legendary 2 ranked gameplay (or below), I'm talking about the pro scenario and high elo matchs. Below it there's no difference at all between a gadget. Anyone can use any build and push any brawler to 1000🏆 easily or get masters in ranked easily (that's why Supercell is nerfing ranked elo gain in every update, because it's too easy still), you need to worry about your build when you face high elo games against good players and then there's an INSANE difference between a crap gadget and a good one.
