Bitcoin Cash: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System The same 21M max supply as BTC Same halvings Same miners Same Genesis block BCH big blocks, scales, fast and cheap to transact P2P on L1 🤔
@Lordearon334 ай бұрын
@@dsflat6785 Same miners? The hash rate on Bitcoin is roughly 1,300 TIMES higher than that of BCH, at the current time. Increasing blocksize removes mining incentives, and increases barriers to run nodes/miners. It creates more problems than it solves. And even 8GB blocks isn't enough for global transactions! All you've done is kick the scaling can down the road, instead of solve the problem. Scaling MUST happen a different way. Smart ppl know this, which is why BCH market cap is pitiful.

Dude, you killed it again! Fantastic info. I did not know what Fedimint was. But now I feel totally comfortable setting up any of those wallets. Thank you! Do you think govts can ban these mints? Are they driven through smart contracts?

Thanks for the video Ben! Question: As most people keep their btc on chain, will the fees always increase in price or can they get lower? I find i hard to want to exchange to lightning or liquid since ill lose my sats for the fees. Cheers!
@BTCSessions5 ай бұрын
Yeah fees can fluctuate quite a bit based on 1. How busy the network is 2. How much data your transactions take up (this has to do with something called UTXO management) 3. The priority you give your transaction/fee you decide to set My day to day transactions are primarily lightning or liquid at this point, with the occasional on-chain transaction for swaps or to long term savings. This helps minimize my fee burden.

I like Bitcoin as it is a blockchain where you can hold your own keys. Not your keys not your coins. Bitcoin is also permissionless as I can connect my own node to the network anonymously without going trough a bank or federation. Lighning uses real Bitcoins for transactions which is cool. Nothing that the FED can mint 🙂

As a consiment nihilist, I have to assume that if this is permitted to be on the app store, then the NSA and other US Gov't Alphabet orgs have access to these apps.
@BTCSessions5 ай бұрын
Or they haven't yet understood what it is. Either way, the APK is available to be downloaded if they come after it, and the protocol itself can't be shut down. Since anyone can create a mint, it will be hard to censor in its entirety.

@@BTCSessions Also, devs could make it a progressive web app like Mutiny if push came to shove. Privacy is an arms race. We're in a war in, case anyone hasn't noticed.
@Stumpy175 ай бұрын
receiving lightning in a non custodial wallet WITHOUT lightning channels is definitely cool, but can it move it from lightning > HW Wallet? - if it could, this could make a privacy/whirlpool type transaction to cold storage.

Why have the system divided into federations?
@BTCSessions5 ай бұрын
It's just the model for this particular protocol. Liquid is a similar model with a single federation for the entire system - which makes interoperability with wallets using liquid universal. Fedi allows for smaller federations that are separate but connected with lightning. Main advantage of many mints is that if one gets shut down there are countless others still running. Anyone can start a federation.
@Joe995 ай бұрын
@@BTCSessionsIf a federation gets shut down do you get rugged? Where does your ecash go? Or is your ecash balance independent of any single federation?

If you think cramming the world's transactions onto a layer that is meant to be hosted by as many people as possible is a viable scaling mechanism then you may want to dig deeper.
