This song scared the hell out of me one night when I was off my rocker because my dad was dying. Like this song was so good I thought God was talking to me and it scared the piss out of me. Was completely sober but honestly the most scared I've been in my adult life. That entire period was just wild, I'd highly recommend losing your mind to anyone out there that wants to experience life.

I can't believe there is a video! How did I not know this. This is my all time favorite drum song and I love the changes. Brings me back to high school days.

Every drummer needs to hear this. THIS is how you hold down a groove.

Same. Yes, still my favorite.

This soothing jam ALWAYS makes me air drum. The drums are so banging and solid and just fit very well nice with the synth/piano everything else blended in. Good shit, RJD2.

I'd listen to this every morning on the crowded Shanghai subway. It's so interesting to see it put to video featuring BART.

Not trying to classify, but it's rare and cool to see that some artist actualy change "subject" in style of music. other than that RJD2's music is great
@twatwatwat17 жыл бұрын
Agreed - couldn't have put it better myself. DJ Shadow did some amazing stuff on Entroducing, all completely sampled. Creating new, interesting music out of chopped up other music is pretty difficult to do well - RjD2 is one of the better ones.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE, man I just cant get enough of this feeling. The groove, the drum mix, mixed in vocals, the rest/break, too iLL. Thanks God, for creating RJD2! Inspiration for the inventor in us all. Propers.

RJD2 is a drummer and a DJ - from what I understand this is himself on the kit. Sick shit man.

Great music vid for an awesome song and one of the best dj's to ever grace the earth. Also, just to clarify for Shem, RJ does sample old records obviously just as all other turntablists do but he also plays his own music, if you've ever seen him live you know hes a pretty good guitarist and singer too. a renaissance man if you will.

I really liked this video. The contrast between all the advertisement on the buildings and graffiti was really cool.

Honestly, this is a rather eerie song in the same regard as something Trent Reznor would put together. The distortion at the end of the song is rather disturbing and chilling. It's just a testament to RJD2's versatility.

One of my favorite instrumentals set to the back drop of one of my favorite cities!Brilliant! Why can't RJ get back to this type of music? Everything since Deadringer has been getting progressively worse......

Its not just one place, that's the point. Its a commentary on all places. There is definitely a south american city or two in there because of the signs in spanish, but the Bart is in Frisco and the civic center in LA.
@himynameisConor15 жыл бұрын
rj was largely inspired by DJ Shadow... he kind of pioneered the frontline of this kind of music, moving away from house/techno and taking a deep breath of hip hop to make endtroducing. we have a lot to thank him for

After Jammin to this song for 5 years..I finally realized that RJD2 used a sample of Jimmy Page's Violin Bow Solo at 2:09...

Amazing video, made me think of how each human being in this world is an individual with their own path,also made me think of how everything in this world has a beginning the story just doesnt end there and stop there, you see a tree and you wonder where did that seed come from, you see a paper on the ground and you think whos paper is that who threw it, to fully appreciate life you have to seek more than just whats infront think deep, and i promise you a door will open in your mind.

This is the original. DJ Shadow did not contribute in anyway to this song. This is an original recording from RJD2 off of the Deadringer album. They are similar DJ's in sound, but totally different and have never used each other's materal.

this classic track made Rjd2 on of my heroes in 2002! but i'd never seen this video of SF (whatup!) overlaid on the track! really well done, i love the layering, and you really have captured slices of downtown life, the graf, people, swiftness passing by. did you do this edit?

That's the whole art of digging. Finding one break mixed with another chorus and so on. Read up on the Amen Break. It's been cut to high hell, spawning sub genres like Drum N Bass and Jungle. Just off one break.

never heard about a term called "Off-Beat" ?! In Jazz , its one of the most difficult things to do. You just heard an offbeat drum impro (half 4/4 half ?5/8) pressed(mixed) into a pure 4/4. Amazing, isnt it , lol ;)

he's def. not undiscovered, best underground shit around!!! just because the mainstream doesn't recognize, doesn't mean people don't know whats up. IMO i'd rather him stay low key so then his shit stays the same and doesn't get watered down by some corp.
