I remember when i first saw a male harrier silhouette in the air and i was shocked. It looked like to me a sea bird because of white coloration with black wing tips but it was a predator flight i could tell. It is not common or popular in my country so i attacked all the bird id books-web sites and found it was a grey harrier male. A few days later i saw him again flying in a cloudy weather and he shocked me again. When he was making turns in the air, at some point because of cloudy background and his grey color HE WAS STEALTH! Vanishing easily if you don't look carefully. What a stunner bird, perfect predator with lots of differences from other predators.

I think I saw one of these on Dartmoor, swooped down into some trees near where I was fishing as the rain started to fall. It emerged from the woods about an hour later before swooping under a tree and having an altercation with some sparrows by the sounds of it, saw it swoop out of the tree again and back into the woods where it disappeared. I don't know much about bird identifying but the mention of it being bigger than a kestrel/sparrowhawk but smaller than a buzzard was the only way I could describe it

I think I saw a harrier but I don't know which it was between a male hen or Montagu's

i thought i saw a hen harrier, but alas, it was a gamekeeper dressed as one.

I would bet on it being Hen Harrier. Around 5 breeding pairs of Montagu (tops) in the whole country - if there was one in the area you would probably have seen hundreds of birdwatchers! Montagu's also tend to stick to certain spots, Hen could be seen practically anywhere (despite still being hugely unusual)
