A year ago, I decided to learn Korean, as I love learning new languages (so far I speak French, English, Russian, German, a little bit of Swedish). Ten days later... BTS found me!! My mom was hospitalized, and I had many struggles in life at that time. They were such a comfort all of a sudden! I am a late ARMY, but I so deeply love them now. They make my life brighter on a daily basis. You made me laugh when you said you couldn't tell which one was JK and which one was Jin! At first, I could only find RM and V in the middle of the others... Now, as all ARMY, I can tell who's who just by seeing a finger. And also, I'm still learning Korean language, so your channel is so precious!

I loved hearing how you came to find BTS. Several years ago, I was the one who teased all of my friend's daughters for listening to K-pop - playfully, of course. However, I had a bad habit of cutting down music that I heard and found fault with everything I happened to hear on the radio. Fake Love killed me as an English teacher in Korea because the strong "k" (크) sound grated on my nerves. Early on during the Great Pause, my university reunion got cancelled and turned into an online event. I could easily attend online and found myself in a group of international classmates who somehow asked about K-pop. They wanted to know what all the fuss was about. Someone noted that I lived in Korea and that surely I would be able to answer their questions. I was embarrassed because although I had lived in Korea for decades, I knew nothing about K-pop beyond the first generation. So pretending to still be academic-minded, I started to research the topic so I could be prepared for the next time someone asked me about K-pop. I started randomly with BTS and never moved on to any other group. I was not easily hooked because I kept looking for the flaws in the group or in their message. How could they be so good and nice and talented and humble and, most of all, sincere? No one is like that, but BTS is. After 6 months of waiting to uncover some lie or big scandal, I came to accept the these men were pretty awesome and their music fit every possible mood I could ever be in.

Hahahahahahaha.. That k sound grated on your nerves... Actually I felt the same when I first heard the song as well. That was such an unnecessary k sound at the end but now I got used to it so much and I pronounce it in the same way as they did when I sing along the song. 😊 BTW, wait a minute... What? You lived in Korea for decades? I mean, was it literally decades? OMG. The way you became a fan of BTS is quite unique and interesting. It sounds more like a spy movie plot to me. And now look at you! I remeber you told me you actually teach about K POP in your class. What an achievement! I am super proud of you, my hotteok teacher. Thanks a lot for your story. This is a long-winding story 😅 Late 2020, because of Park Bogum, I got into a Lee Hyori variety show binge (starting with Hyori’s Bed and Breakfast). That led to Ssak3 and to seeing Rain doing a dance cover of Dynamite. 😂 But it wasn’t until January 2021 when I really started to go down the BTS rabbithole. Started with MVs on KZbin, dance practices, then old Run BTS episodes (the Zombie episode 🤣), then Bon Voyage (New Zealand) Then I saw a talkshow where Dr. Lee Jiyoung talked about the art revolution of BTS and something just clicked! By March 2021 I signed up to be an official Army. A few months later, I started buying merch 🤣 and now, I’m a few days away to seeing Suga in real life 😊 Aaaah! Happy to be an Army because BTS really reminded me that I should love myself (even though that’s the hardest thing) 💜Borahae!

저도 그 시기쯤에 입덕했어요! 그 당시 저는 고2때였고 여름방학이어서 밤에 몰폰하고있는데 유튜브가 알고리즘으로 I Need u 뮤비를 추천해주더라구요 아, 얘네가 방탄이지!! 하고 홀린듯이 클릭했는데 그때 분홍머리인 슈가에 반해버렸어요... 와 얘 뭐지...? 누구지????? 이러고 바로 입덕... 처음으로 입덕부정기 없이 입덕한 아이돌이에요! 제가 Agust D나오기 전에 입덕을 했는지 나오고 난 후로 입덕을 했는지는 잘 모르지만 벌써 아미가 된지 7년이 지나가고 있는게 많이 뭉클하더라구요ㅠㅠㅠ 더 오래오래 함께 같이 가자아아ㅏㅏ❤💜

2019 me aparecía mucho en mi listas de KZbin un día estaba de curiosa y dije. Bueno haber que pasa oi boy with love y me gustó mucho yo ya era escucha de kpop desde el 2008 y todo en una ocasión tenía una playlist que me regaló una amiga y me di cuenta que tenía no more dream 😅 había escuchado tantas veces esa canción pero no tenía idea que era de bts fue muy gracioso y pues si así llegué al mundo de army y bts 💜 y me hace muy feliz han conmovido mi corazón con sus letras mucho, al inicio pensaba que jimin y suga era lo mismo 😅 decía espero aprenderme los nombres pero dije bueno me aprendí el de super junior que son más 😂 puedo con este grupo y si en una semana ya sabía quién era quien y en un mes empecé a comprender muchas cosas el bu se me hizo lo más inovador e increíble y enganchada mi álbum o era favorita es wings 💜😍

Los conoci el 27 de enero del 2019, por una compañera de clases que siempre estaba hablando de Bangtan y recuerdo que mi hermana y yo siempre la escuchábamos, recuerdo que después de llegar de clases mi hermana y yo buscamos por KZbin a los chicos y la primera canción que apareció fue 'Same me' la escuchábamos y nos transmitió un sentimiento de Felicidad, comenzamos a investigar a los chicos por Google y haci cada vez que mi hermana y yo llegábamos de clases investigavamos hacerca de cada miembro... y estoy muy orgullosa de formar parte de Army y darles mucho apoyo y amor a nuestros chicos :)♡

Interesting that South Korea's stamps don't feature living persons except for the president. I had a lazy afternoon and I was searching on KZbin for new rock music from around the world. And somehow DOPE MV appeared. It was just a few days after its release. And I was shocked. I loved the song and their dance and attitude were nothing like I'd ever seen. So, I searched for more of their songs and interviews and whatever I could find about them. I was surprised by my alarm, realizing that I spent the whole night with their content and I had to go to work sleepless. For some weeks, my schedule had only work, sleep and catching up with BTS's previous content. I thought that I missed a lot not knowing about kpop's existence, so I looked up other kpop content as well - and I was badly disappointed. Good kids, but without the music and the charisma Bangtan have. I spent a year on army reddit & youtube before admitting I had become a devoted fan of a boy group for the first time ever in my mid 40s. Then I joined twitter to participate in the fandom's organized efforts and goals. Now I can't even imagine my life without them. I love them as if they're my real sons. They made the cynical old me a bit hopeful about humanity's future, since humans like them are still born and succeed.

OMG. 😊 I totally feel you spending the whole night watching their contents and going to work sleepless. I was also like that too. There were just too many things to catch up and I felt overwhelmed at first. It took me months to catch up and that means months of sleepless nights!
