Between Jin’s injury, Hobi and Jungkook getting covid and the performance, I didn’t know how little I cared about the Grammys until it really didn’t happen. It’s like one of those times when you broke up with someone, you thought you’re still hooked on them but one day when you’re having coffee with friends, you realize that person isn’t on your mind at all. That’s how little I cared, it’s not even on my mind. I was at work and my friend was updating me the result. Wasn’t surprised and wasn’t even upset. I remember thinking I just couldn’t wait to check out the performance and Vlive after work. After work: heartbroken seeing how much Jin’s in pain. It took over my heart and now when I think back how much his finger must’ve hurt during the performance and even on the red carpet 💔🥺. Unpopular opinion: I thought Trevor’s joke was fine. The squid game reference is a nod to kpop success, their culture becoming mainstream, it should be taken as flattering. We thought the boys laughed genuinely. Jungkook was confused and so was RM. We think they’re too polite to laugh at Trevor’s pronunciation and trying to figure out what is the best way to react. The appropriate way is to laugh at him, it’s completely ok but RM is too kind so it became awkward. Also unpopular opinion: did I see how the injury and COVID affected the performance? Yes. But knowing what they went through literally just hours before arguably the biggest performance of their life just makes me love and respect them that much more! The world needs to know what they had to overcome for that performance to fully understand how mind blowing it was. How big a triumph it really was. The creativity in that performance to include Jin, the complexity of it they would never compromise. They always just strive to showcase the best they know how. They don’t know how to give us less. Nobody else could do what they do!

Me, You and RM were thinking the same thing... They changed the category to main show, BTA apear in the beggining, in the middle and the award was in the final of the show.... I really thought they would give BTS the award... Also Bang PD was there too... And OMG, Jin was so amazing... Various clips (from the red carpet, the award and in the VLive) show that he was in pain... I hope he can fully recover for the PTD Shows...

I agree that the Grammys need to separate groups and collabs into their own categories. Besides, like you said the guys are worth sooo much more than the Grammys and it's ridiculous. I have been an advocator for the past 3 years to push army to help the guys get the Diamond Chopard Award. It's given to artists who sell 100 million copies of albums and has only been awarded 6 times since it's creation, so how incredible would it be for the guys to be the seventh performers to EVER receive it! But enough of my little tangent, Have fun at the concert!!!

I respectfully disagree. Both categories used to be separate until they combined them in 2012. The Academy did this because they didn’t see the difference between the two and they had too many categories as is. If they wanna separate them again in the future, that’s up to them. Idc either way. The description in the category even reads ‘duo, group, collaboration, etc.’ Which means collabs are eligible for this award. Even if they only acknowledged groups, BTS still could’ve lost to Coldplay or any other group. All the nominees had strengths and weaknesses in their songs. More voters felt Doja Cat and SZA had the best strengths and that’s why they won. I don’t think this was rigged at all. Doja Cat & SZA deserved to win & in this category.

Thank you for your rant. I agree with every word you said. Also, as a Korean, I found Trevor Noah's imitation of the Korean language from Squid Game, so distasteful and offensive. I'm sure that's why Namjoon responded the way he did. I'm so sick of ppl asking the boys superficial questions and borderline mocking the Korean language (sometimes). Anyway, great video!

I honestly agree. Can we like start a petition to stop celebrities from trying to learn a single phrase of a language they don't know to say on live TV? And they butcher the pronunciation! Every. Single. Time. It just ends up making them look like a fool who's trying to make themselves seem interesting. It isn't cute and I personally hate seeing it. Unless they know the language themselves, celebrities just need to stop trying to seem relevant by saying random phrases in other languages.

Imo Trevor Noah just made a fool of himself. There was no way that he’d actually _try_ to pronounce it correctly. How he badly imitated that phrase from squid game (probably the _only_ Korean series he’s seen in his life) was so cringe and offensive. These award show hosts try to make skits like these comedic, but really it was not funny whatsoever. I love RM’s expression, because that’s how I reacted too.

As a foreign language professor in Korea, I think your comments about learning to pronounce a foreign language are off. Is it distasteful and offensive when we non-Korean speakers try our best to sing BTS lyrics but fail miserably? I think you are looking for something to "victimize" the members more than they already have to genuinely deal with. Trevor Noah's joke did not land, but it was far from offensive. Just an opinion from an educator's perspective on foreign language acquisition.

BTS had the best performance of the night....PERIOD! Even though they lost they still celebrated the winners and walked out with their heads high like the humble kings they are because....THEY DON'T NEED THE SCAMMYS. Oh and Jin said on Weverse his hand wasn't really hurting he just acted like it was because people are more cautious around his hand if be acts like it hurts. (he added: haha good tip) He said he has it wrapped because he can't have any impact/force to his hand or he'll need to have another surgery.

@@LandonMark I'm pretty sure he may have accidentally hit it on the table and it hurt momentarily and you're right he was probably trying to reassure ARMY he was ok. Though he could have just been exaggerating his reaction like he said. I hope he's ok too though. I have a soft spot for Jin, always have always will. He's what I call my "Untouchable" (like Kryptonite), Not a bias or a wrecker but has qualities of both and holds a spot in my heart that the others can't touch. Almost at the same level as Yoongi (and Tae my secondary) but different......if that makes sense.

Can we just please convince Yoongi not to aim for Grammy? I think it is easier to convince them not to give a F_ _k about winning the Grammy than changing the "western culture" of the people in the Scammy. What I don’t understand- in an interview right before the show the head of the academy made a statement saying that the nominees &winners are decided based on “quality of the art” not popularity or streams etc…ok fair enough…then why weren’t black swan or anything on MOTS7 even nominated but dynamite and butter were…BTS submitted all of that album for nomination so if they were looking for quality- what’s the excuse. I think they are always trying to come up w reasons why bts isn’t in the main categories or winning and their reasons don’t hold up. No hate at all to Doja cat- she was deserving as well, but disappointing and frustrating for sure. And it felt like they put BTS’ performance early but saved the category for late so they could still get army’s views without looking as obvious as last year. Anyway!they looked and performed amazing! Breaks my heart every time they say they will work harder….how is that even possible? You don’t need them BTS💜💜💜💜 I did appreciate that the cameramen seemed to have learned something about not showing the audience every 5 seconds 😂

I follow an entertainment journalist on Twitter who was talking about the album of the year win and he felt that even the Grammys don't know what they want since their stated criteria fit last year's winner but not this year's. Basically, their criteria might not be as objective as they want people to believe and they choose who they want to win (not a shocker if you've paid attention to the Grammys over the years).

I'm new to your channel and really enjoyed your take on the Grammys. The spy/bond theme was great. I was disappointed by their loss, but not wholly surprised (though I thought it would be Bennett and Gaga). Thought I was coping but could not sleep until early this morning felt so sad. It's so true that their impact has been monumental. I saw them for the first time three years ago on US late night and was instantly hooked by their charm and entertainment qualities. YES! I've been saving that it's wrong to have a full-time group like BTS in the same category as TWO Western artists doing a one-off collaboration. But yes, the guys zapped the world with their performance. I'm glad that they persevered through illness and pain. That the city was painted purple in honor of the guys speaks louder to me than them not getting the award. Fingers crossed for next year - maybe "My Universe" can be nominated? Yes, you're definitely spot on. To be honest they don't need to prove how amazing they are by winning a grammy. But I'll support them as long as they want to win one. If they want to be nominated again I suppose they need to keep singing songs in English. All of their English songs are amazing and uplifting. But I think they can express their feelings better in their native tongue and ARMYs know that their lyrics in Korean are great and meaningful and still can be relatable as long as we have the subtitles for non-Korean speakers.

Nobody asked about concerts, future plans, album and comeback. I can't believe after all these years, they are still asked about "Friends" and "collaboration". I can't believe their interviews are still so shallow and nobody dared to ask something that really matters.

you said it so well I was so sure they were gonna win this time I was mad as well when they did not ,but those of us who have been there since the first Grammy nomination already knew how it was gonna go down but we all still held out hope for that win I even paid for hulu to watch the live show if not for the fact that it was BTS performance I would not even bother watching I have only been watching because of BST because I think the last Grammy I watch before BTS was either Michael or prince that is how long it has been sadly I'm skipping the Vegas concert due to I did not want to drive the 6 hour drive and go alone I hope they announce a world tour cause I will be on it for sure .

BTS is too good for the Grammys (Scammys). They are wholesome, kind, modest, thoughtful, and work so hard all the time. BTS does NOT need the Grammys. The West could take lessons from them.
