Oooh - I'm very tempted to watch the full uncut reaction. There's a moment in this live where Jimin clearly sees something sobering on screen and it takes a few minutes for him to recover. There's a ripple of body language that goes from him to SUGA and then RM. Ultimately, what things like that mean to me is that these lives are unscripted and genuine and that we all need to remember to be kind, regardless of who might be watching/reading. ^_^

I agree with this, Army comes together to do what we can to get our boys what they deserve. We love the guys, they give us so much through their music and themselves so we want to work hard and give back. I see the relationship the way one should be. its a give and take on BOTH sides. They give us something that helps us get through our hard times in life and we give back support in our own way from streaming to voting to whatever else there is. @violetastoykova-jakobson9278 Жыл бұрын
@@Joonsplumtree Which mentality? That people consider BTS to be their family? Family doesn't require blood relation(or even constant physical presence/connection). The members demonstrate (in their work; with how they treat one another and ARMY) all that family is about - honesty, trust, realness, respect, passion, communication, bonding over shared goals and interests, love. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! And to add a (what is commonly called) "spiritual" perspective - a soul group or family can, and indeed does, contain millions of souls. They will experience each other as "family". Namjoon himself said he wants to find a better word than "love" to describe what he feels on stage during concerts, what he feels towards ARMY, the essence of that bond.

I think what strikes me with BTS in particular is the way they interact with their fans. As a whole, Kpop has a certain focus on fan service, so it's a given that most idols will be sufficient in that department. But BTS are just on another level in that aspect and I can never quite put my finger on the exact reason. I do think that their genuine way with fans is a reason that they've grown so successful (besides the fact that their music is great too). Btw, we appreciate your videos Max!
@ystrw Жыл бұрын
'Came for the music, stayed for the boys' is how I tend to sum up my experience. You're right that K-pop focuses very closely on the fan-idol interaction, and it is hard to put a name to what it is that BTS does. I think it's a lot of 'little' things, starting with such relatable and affectionate lyrics/songs, proceeding on to teasing and having in-jokes with us; sharing their worries and down moments with us (something most idols aren't allowed to do) and sharing the projects and behind-scenes. They let us see the silly, the, casual, the play/leisure times along with the intense work and dedication. They don't like to worry or upset us, but they do make a point of being as honest and open as NDAs will permit and they make a point to show us the behind-scenes so we know what really goes into each project. (I can't forget how disappointed they were at Busan when security vetoed their plan to leave the stage and circulate among the fans there.) And the first thing out of their mouths at award shows is always, 'ARMY!' It's like BTS themselves: it's not one single thing that makes them the most successful musical group, but many things collectively contributing.

Giving back is the only way I’ve ever thought of streaming, there’s so few avenues to thank them for all that they’ve given me The only real way to do so is by streaming the fuck out of their music, getting them awards etc is really one of the only avenues we have to acknowledge and thank them for what they do. And outside of Weverse it’s the only way to get a message to them y’know- it’s like Army coming together as some hive minded unit to say “I appreciate you” to Bts

I can't speak for all ARMYs but I personally do feel like we accomplished something with BTS as a extended part of the BTS eco-system. Everyone has a part to play from BTS themselves to their producers, writers, composers, sound engineers, directors, editors, managers, etc. I see ARMY as just another piece of that puzzle to what makes BTS work. It takes a lot of effort to do what ARMY does. It is a global project to mobilize millions of people to help BTS hit the milestones that they hit. They make incredible music and we want them to get the recognition that we believe they deserve. So we strategize, research, share information about how to stream their music in a way that gets results. We find out what how award shows work, what criteria is need to break records, what you need for a stream to count or not count on a platform, etc. We create goals for each project and share it with fans, track songs that are close to new milestones to give them extra love, set up streaming parties, create special playlists to enjoy at work and school or to have friendly competition. We have voting brigades to work round the clock from around the world. General audiences are going to engage in the content when they feel like it which is totally fine and the norm. That doesn't get results though. ARMY knows that record breaking numbers only happen with team effort and planning. So we have to do our jobs as fans and support in a way that works. BTS is fully aware of all that we do and they know it's not as simple and easy and throwing on a song or music video. So when they thank us, it isn't empty words for just having fun with their music. It's acknowledgement that they know what it takes to get those kinds of numbers and them being genuinely happy to have us as a part of their team. It's not empty appreciation. We don't get much more out of it than to see them happy and excited and thriving. That's all we want and need. Them smiling and happy in a live or at an award show makes it all worth it.

Oh no it definitely feels like a collective effort when we achieve something. Even for things that don’t involve us whatsoever, like speaking at the White House in the United States. They thanked us, for being so supportive and rooting for them. It’s the way they speak to us with so much empathy, respect and kindness that’s makes the parasocial relationship grow stronger 😂 Begins to feel like one massive family! They speak intimately and feels like they’re speaking to us in the other end of the screen and go into detail why they said what they said. For example if Taehyung is going to have a speech during a concert instead of saying he had a good time and was happy to be with ARMY, he would add that he’s grateful that after such a long time he’s happy to reunite with the variety of ARMYs he sees in the crowd and how much energy he gained from the excitement and happiness he saw tonight and hopes to improve and perform better for their future concerts. That’s exactly what he would say. Even the way army speaks to each other, their positivity is influential to the fanbase. I just can’t get over the way they speak to us, there’s lots of differences, like you said RM takes a more intellectual approach when he speaks to everyone, I remember he said during one of their concerts in 2021, “we charge each others batteries, BTS charges ARMYs batteries and ARMY charges BTS batteries, that’s why we’re here” and for example Jimin is very particular and careful with his words. He’s very emotionally intelligent and has a way of validating the viewers feelings and being supportive without even knowing us individually. I can’t explain it! Each member stands out so much but they also feel like one entity at the same time. I really enjoyed this, thank you for making this video, please continue to do more BTS reaction videos!

1:13 they were asked once who they picture and i dont remember who said it but they said that the faces they see at their concerts are sometimes imprinted in their memories and they can then see army so vividly. so i guess the person they picture are the people who left a lasting impression from one of their concerts. also no two vlives are alike. thats probably why most army watch them all because u always get something different. jk might be very quiet in one and very talkative in the next. they might go a whole vlive without reading comments and spend the next chatting back and forth with army, they might talk about something very serious in one vlive, but then be complete goofballs in the next etc etc. this is just to say that u cant really get an impression of what their vlives are like based off one video. 13:55 i think army are aware of their part in bts's achievements so yes it does feel nice when bts acknowledges that. i find it so endearing when they write #armyreceivedanaward everytime bts receives an award. i'm not sure but i think jimin is the one that started the hashtag (correct me if i'm wrong). army is also very good at encouraging and complimenting each other for a job well done so it's just good vibes all around, both between bts and army and amongst army themselves.

I was nodding along so much to alot of what u said in this video. As an ARMY I feel so heard by ur description of BTS and ARMY's relationship. Yes they really bring us into the equation, that we're an entity is that's a big part of the whole ecosystem. Many of the BTS members have said things like "BTS is ARMY. ARMY is BTS", that we're the 8th member, etc. Jimin always writes "Our ARMY won an award" whenever they tweet about awards won after any award ceremony, even for awards that ARMYs cannot vote or influence the result -- it just shows how humble they are. I think times like these is when we especially feel that THEY did it -- it's their hard work, their talent, their genuineness. Sometimes we think they are toooo humble and should give themselves more credit. Even if it's ARMYs' voting that's the mechanism (but we're just reflecting back their amazingness!). But at other times, especially when it's 100% voting based awards, we do feel that we've achieved something. But the key is -- we achieved it FOR THEM 🥰 For them to be rightfully recognised, rightfully celebrated. So there's definitely a sense of accomplishment (it's not easy!) but the spirit of that sense of accomplishment is always getting THEIR HAPPINESS as a reward Btw, Billy Korean just started uploading a series where he analyzes the ways each BTS members' speaks in korean, including dialects/satoori, their speaking style etc (since he has a good proficiency of korean over the years)! It's VERY insightful and enlightening! Especially as the way they speak reflects their personality, thought process, how they use the korean language, reflects their hometown, and other quirks! i feel like this would add a whole 'nother dimension to ur understanding of them and how they communicate! Would u consider reacting to those videos? I really am curious for u to see it and share ur thoughts!! So far, Billy Korean has uploaded RM's and Jin's -- perhaps u can start with those! Thank you for this. I have wondered myself how they pictured us (Army). I became a huge fan during covid. Their music, vlives, and various shows have been such a comfort to me during a time when there was so much uncertainty in the world. My daughter and I have been to Las Vegas PTD concert and we were blown away by other Army! I have never met a kinder or more inclusive group of people. We had other Army walking up to us on the streets of Las Vegas giving us little Army goodie bags! Talk about feeling loved by people you didn't even know. We had the most amazing experience and met Army from all over the world at the concert. We felt even more connected to other Army and BTS through other fans. Now we are sure to listen to BTS's songs while going about our lives, including them in our daily lives knowing that streaming their music helps them. We are going to Suga's concert in May...not just to see Suga but to be with Our Army family too. We are already planning and ordering our little goody bags to spread a little love amongst Army! BTS is just such a special and amazing group. We will continue to support them as they each serve Korea....and meet up with other Army to support them and be a part of something bigger. Thank you for the analysis.... it was really heartwarming to listen to your interpretation of them.

I love your reaction, just out of curiosity there's a press conference at the PTD-LA concert which they were asked how they keep themselves grounded and RM answered that if that is 100% of success 50% are from army, 15% are from hybe/bighit and each one of them only had 5% and I think this pretty much explains how can they be so conscious and grateful towards us. I guess that is clear that we mean a lot to each other, even if it's in different ways, but this feeling keep us walking together.

Yes I genuinely feel that we are part of the succes. Don't forget: it's our buying and streaming that gets them to nr 1. And they never forget that too, and we love them for it. As RM said it so eloquently: 50% army, 35% bts (5% each🤯), 15% bighit. He was being too modest of course, if they weren't so great, there would be 0% succes.

If you want a better look at how they interact with ARMY I think you'll find more material by looking at their solo vlives or lives with just a couple members. When it's the whole group they spend a lot of time talking amongst themselves (which we love) but still make sure to loop us in and communicate directly a little less

You may want to watch their MMA 2016 end Vlive. They all cried in that one and kept assuring ARMYs that in both ends, each other was all we truly had and that moving forward, every other award and accomplishment they get will still be and always be ours and not just them. They were extremely thankful and shared their thoughts in their goals, which were once light-hearted, and they kept reminding each other than they should always take one step at a time but aim high.
@Siennaflower Жыл бұрын
When BTS acknowledges ARMY, I feel seen and appreciated, because they recognize and bring attention to the fact that without fans, all their efforts would not be rewarded and they would not have the awards & achievements they have. The Billboard charts reflect their popularity, and that popularity comes from fans supporting and listening to their music. No matter how good their music is, if no one listens to it, they don't get acknowledged. So they are grateful and cognizant of the role we play in their success. Also, the relationship between BTS and ARMY is a love affair. It is a mutual admiration society. We adore them, and they in turn adore us. We admire, stan, swoon and melt, and they reciprocate by complementing, exalting and extolling us. The loved and the beloved relish in praising one another, and every complement or show of appreciation on one side encourages reciprocation from the other, which creates a positive feedback loop that just keeps growing. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

it depends on what we achieved. something may happen to bts that in a biggggg picture is due to army, for that we are just happy they get opportunities and recognition but there are some events that we selebrate in a "we did it!" way too, those involve our direct effort. for example fan votings for an award with a tough competition or beating some number record in sertain amount of time that requires a lot of contribution from each army or debuting bts song on the top of hot100 which is basically can only be achieved by a coordinated work from us for a whole week... we have inside systems to manage all of these goals, so when it happens we do feel accomplished 😊
@camilesouzaa Жыл бұрын
exactly like, when they won artist of the year on 2021 AMA's for example, I cried out of pure joy that day because I knew I voted for them so hard therefore I felt direct part of their victory, and when they chart and break a record is our hard work in there alongside theirs so it definetely feel like teamwork. We armys and bts have a partnership really, and the boys see it like that too. But also the fact that the tannies share how they feel about things with us, then we get to know what's important for them and that makes it easier for us to empathize. Like Hobi being able to work with J-Cole. Even if an army doesn't listen to j-cole's music, they can still overjoyed that hobi gets to work with his muse.

@stormkive4356 Жыл бұрын
they have a hashtag whenever they win awards that translates roughly to "our army won an award" and to answer ur question on how it feels when they say stuff like that: i wouldnt say that it feels like i internalize the credit or anything. instead, it feels like theyre so humble that they share the credit. like rationally u know that without a supportive fanbase they wouldnt have their numbers, but as a fan im not motivated to reach any random number goal, i just invest in their art bc it speaks to me. so when they pawn off credit like that, it just makes u think "like no it was all you guys (bts)" and it goes in circles like that honestly lol. it feels like a constant mutual gratitude and appreciation. im sure on their end they really Are grateful for the support of army as an entity but the fact is that army is made up of individuals who just want to enjoy their music and see them get what they deserve, it means its weird to get the success of the group attributed to me. like i dont accept it and just send it (the love n credit) back to them and i would guess most other army feel the same

The way I describe the relationship between BTS & ARMY is just that: a relationship. I've been a part of fandoms before but I can honestly say being ARMY is so completely different. I think you only get part of it on the OT7 vlives because those are usually more "structured" (they have a specific topic/ reason they went live) but you really get it when it's the solo lives. For example, Hobi did a vlive where he was dancing in a practice room late at night & he had to go wash his hands. He took all however many millions of us with him because the building was empty & he was scared of the dark. Or there's the time JK went live to sing in his house & someone in the comments mentioned seeing his dirty dishes in the background. JK stopped singing, got up, & washed his dishes...muttering about did ARMY think he couldn't do dishes? Or Tae leaving the camera on while he took a nap (JK just did this the other day, ARMY was frantic because he was sound asleep & snoring but left a candle burning). They treat ARMY collectively as a friend. And we feel it.

often notice this about jimin, he sometimes just looks intensely in the camera when they are live together, keeping this eye contact. other guys might look away naturally distracted by something, but jimin LOOKS at you through the camera 😅 though by himself he is shy to interact with the audience haha I wonder how it is to translate your true emotions when there's only a camera lense in front of you and they still make it feel genuine and lovely

Not sure if someone else wrote this but I've seen an interview with Rm and he explains that BTS' accomplishments (his example was an award they won that was in his hands), as he sees it, is 15% label, 5% per member and 50% ARMY. That is a big thing to say. That he believes we deserve more credit than all members combined. He said its how he keeps himself humble and down to earth in a crazy industry. I know I'm late, but i just wanted to say it as well. ARMY often organize themselves when songs are released, we organize playlists for streaming according to the rules of the plataforms, we set goals, we share our streaming data, we participate projects to help engage the community and raise the numbers of the songs. We do it because we like it, we like listening to their songs, we like seeing they're at the top. We also know the american industry isn't very fond of letting other artists get rocognition, so it's often even harder to get them there. We call radios to play their songs, bc unlike other companies they don't pay to be on radio, we buy their songs on the plataforms bc we know we have to make up for the lack of radio time when it comes to the charts. We really studied the system and we know how hard it is and how to make it work. So it does feel like we worked towards it too, I think that's why we think we've also achieved this. (and of course, everybody makes only what they can without messing their lifes or schedules in any way, we do what we can)

I think ARMY does feel like we are a part of their success. ARMY works hard to spread awareness of BTS music and message. We also listen and buy with intention. We know BTS is not going to see radio success in the US so we make sure we join listening parties and utilize focused playlists to account for that deficit. We also are present with BTS whenever they have activities, birthdays, concerts, shows, and everything. BTS shows us love, and we show them love. It is an easy relationship to have. One of respect and appreciation that is cared for by both sides. We really are special to eachother and we know it.

I was personally in this moment of their career and I can say that, for me, everytime they achieve something, it feels like we as a fandom, as a group of fans, are giving them a gift. We stream, buy songs, put playlists, ask the big companies questions about he charts and awards, demand for answers and etc, to actually within the fandom articulate strategies to give them theses achievements. Of course we can't give them ALL of it, its their hardwork too, but everytime they share these moments with us, it feels like we gave them those gifts, and the reward (at least for me personally) its not the achievement (the weeks in #1 in the chart, in this live) per se, but rather seeing them happy and enjoy their journey on success, and also supporting their dreams in every way possible. This live, they being happy seeing the results and seeing all of it, its the reward we get from all of this!

Jimin can be mischievous with ARMY too, hahaha but, as you say, when he knows that it won't harm ARMY. But yes, he can say "shiró", I don't want, after reading an ARMY request loud. And this month he'll release his solo album, and will have 70 one minute videocalls with ARMY, I applaud him for that and wish that it goes all great for him -and, of course, for the fans who get to be called-. Thank you a lot for this video! I'm curious too about how they feel ARMY. They talk about seeing ARMY's eyes during concerts, feeling our excitement as part of what they do (ARMY is a part, as you said, of "BTS", and also the musicians, dancers, directors... they believe in this and don't forget to express it), and reading messages in Weverse (some congratulating or celebrating them, but also many thanking them and telling them their stories). Suga, I think, is the most aware that the fandom is composed by lots of different people who will like different things and act in different ways, while the rest seems to talk about an abstract, but yet human, entity that is growing and aging together with them. When they acknowledge the things that ARMY do, like voting, writing, in some concerts and even in the UN they quote actual messages, also in their lives... I feel part of that. I was so logically suspicious at the beginning, I didn't believe that they managed their SNS for example. But it doesn't take long knowing them.
@Jooney91 Жыл бұрын
I'm one of the newer armys so I can't really feel like I achieved something for them, however I'm certain they give so huge credit to us because they just know that armys stream their songs and vote in polls tirelessly in our free time to secure all those wins for them. I (personally) see our relationship as constant giving back (love, support, kindness, appreciation) and that's why it works so wonderfully and also why there's so much respect from both sides. I mean, their message about self-love, authenticity, following your dreams and hard work are well-known and important but people don't talk enough about how they teach us to actually love - to love unconditionally, in healthy and respectful way. 💜

I've always wanted to hear your opinion on this, and I hope you'll see my comment. Do you think being an Army fills a need? Sometimes I feel that they are filling a gap in my life and perhaps in the lives of others from the army as well. The friends gap, the emotional gap, or whatever. They give us unconditional devotion and love that we may not get in real life.
@maxpbeaumont Жыл бұрын
I think it’s probably different for everyone - I’m sure BTS helps fill an emotional/connection void for some people, while for others just simply brings more joy to their life… as if they feel like they’re watching and riding along with an extended part of their family. I can’t speak for ARMY, but like I said, it varies. I’ll be diving into some more content and try to give you a clearer perspective.
@dysmissme7343 Жыл бұрын
YES! As an army who thinks far too much - yes! I think they do And I think unconditional devotion is definitely one of those gaps they fill- different people will have different gaps that need filling 💜 Unconditional devotion is a big one and one that is so necessary in life. I think another big gap is the feeling of being a part of something- Army is such an anomalous, wondrous, global community. There are so many ethos and say values and concepts around bts that army gather around. And bts/army *does* mean something, so many somethings. And then… as far as filling gaps in life.. bts >can< function as a spiritual guide in a vague way. Their music, and compilation of thoughts and philosophies form a half intentional guide through life. I could write a dissertation about this honestly- I wish I was a better essayist 😣 But yeah, so I do think that we all have some gaps in our lives that Bts could fill, or lessons that Bts could teach us. The very first lesson I usually see people learn is that they’ve been a bit prideful and judge mental. The first lesson is humility I guess 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve seen sooooo many people (myself included) who think of bts in a maligning way of “they just make meaningless, fluffy, soulless pop music” why would anyone care about them? And then you listen to their music and you like it, then you check out the lyrics and you sit and have an existential crisis. Boom. First lesson learned. That’s already a gap filled. I think many people are better people for stumbling across Bts.

I clicked on the video because I thought you were evaluating their relationships with each other, but their relationship and address towards Army? That’s a thinker 🤔 I’m not a ‘fangirl’ per se, at least until I met BTS a year ago and became Army. You asked if we feel like we achieved anything- something that is different in this industry compared to the Western music world is when the boys plan to release something, Army sets streaming goals and it gets quite heated in the first 24hrs, first week etc. Itself’Hidden from Artists’ but they know that it happens which is why apps like YT try to delete our views or change the algorithm because of us. But when our boys are releasing their art… we will go to the ends of the world to support it. Boracity Magazine YT channel recently did a video and at the end she spoke about Army’s personal daily goals- that we should aim to stream a song, mv, album etc every day in order to add to the neverending numbers. And accounts like Twitter BTS Charts exist so that we can monitor what records we are nearing. So to answer the question, yes, I think many of us do feel that we play a role in helping them. Because that’s what a relationship is : give and take.

You should definitely watch the individual lives they do. It gives you a perspective of the individual relationship each of them have with fans.
