I taught in Korean high schools for years and I can assure you that this is how young men and women behave when they are close with each other. I remember being staggered on entering a classroom to see a group of 15 yr old boys draped over each other and sitting in each others' laps. After a short while I came to realise that this is how it is in Korea and I needed to wind my Eurocentric neck in. As far as idols go, BTS is pretty tame really. GOT7, SuperJunior, EXO, SHINee etc, can all get way raunchier (watch some old live SJ vids and you will be amazed). Physical contact and sexuality are very different in Korean culture.

@@joyjenkins9052 Thank you for reading my comment. The traditional reason for it is that Korea is, and has been a Confucian society for centuries. Confucius was pretty strict about boys and girls have any contact after the age of seven. As humans need to give and get affection, it would have been only natural for the seperated genders to be close between themselves. Now, of course, this isn't the case but it is still the social construct.💜

Frfr but I think some people forget that depending on where you’re from acts of affection is different, in South Korea I read some where that it’s normal for guys who are friends hold hands even though they’re straight or how it’s normal for a father to give his son a kiss on the forehead or cheek to show his love ( idk if it’s right it’s just what I’ve read)

It is normal there do that that doesn’t always mean they are gay and skin ship doesn’t always mean they are either. Yoongi doesn’t express his feelings like Jimin and J Hope and Jungkook do as Yoongi is very shy when it comes to expressing himself he’s always been that way .not everyone is open about expressing their feelings to freinds etc but he loves all the members with all his heart and he cares for them that love will always be there many people are like this Jungkook used to be really shy then He joined BTS but then He got over that I saw old videos of him when he used be shy I’m glad he is not that way anymore . But In the U.K. if you see 2 men doing that they would get called gay the U.K. is very homophobic towards men that hold hands as they think differently .
