Hi, I really appreciate your videos! It's always fun to watch new people discover BTS, while you guys become interested in them, us become interested in you as well, as people :) And this is why I'm going to recommend some songs, but also more; other videos (performances and solo songs) if you want to get to know them better as people, and not just as The worldwide phenomenon. I'm sorry, it's gonna be a long comment, but I really think that there's much more to them than meets the ears, rather than just simple music - which is great. BTS is a mixture of things, but first and foremost they are people, each with their own characteristics and addition to the group. ♥ Some *songs* you should definitely react to: - Blood sweat and tears (MV): to watch with an open mind, it's inspired by Damien (by Herman Hesse) - Fake love - So What (if you do this reaction, do it for a live performance! It's a super energetic and amazing song, often sang at concerts as a way to unleash energy and have the best of time) (recommended: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJOof4ydarKDb7s) - Mikrokosmos (this is The Song for ARMYs, it's the one song they used to perform as the very last one in concerts, it holds a super special meaning to all of us, not to mention it's really beautiful) - Pied piper (this is a very particular song, only by the vocal line, and it has a very alluring aura and meaning) - Film out (it's a Japanese song composed by Jungkook, the youngest of the members - and the main vocalist) Cool *videos* to react to: - BTS Carpool Karaoke, with James Corden - this gives you an insight on their personalities, it's very fun to watch! (kzbin.info/www/bejne/imXbaKZ6mtuJirs) - ON - performed Live at Grand Central Station, NY (kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4vLXqpoo96mq6s) - BTS at MAMA 2016: This is an Asian Award Ceremony and this performance is very likely to take your breath away, they're so good (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGXQi4Shh5tle6s&) - BTS at MMA 2018: This is another Asian Award Ceremony and it's another breathtaking performance of theirs (kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4vCapVmmd6fZrM) - Jungkook doesn't know autotune - people often assume that BTS don't sing live because Jungkook, the youngest member and the main vocalist, is so good at singing that he sounds perfect in every live (kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKXakJRtjNSreLM) You want to have your mind blown by just how good one single member can be? Try to react to some of their *solo songs/performances* ! - RM: !Trivia (Love)" from a BTS album. Otherwise, he has two mixtapes to his name only, the second one of which ("mono") is full of meaningful songs with a sound so specific and soothing, it really speaks to you and makes him that much more human. Some of his songs from "mono": Tokyo, everythingoes, Seoul, Uhgood, Moonchild - Jin: He's a tenor who can reach super high notes in the group. Some of his most beauiful songs are "Abyss", "Epiphany" and "Moon", but he recently also released a funny, short song called "Super Tuna", which is bound to be the next Baby Shark hehe - Suga: He's got many different songs as solo projects, as he's the member who writes the most lyrics inside the group. He has very cool songs from BTS albums ("First love", a soft piano hip hop song; "Trivia: Seesaw", "Interlude: Shadow"); but he also has two mixtapes to "his" name - under his alter-ego Agust D: "Daechwita" is the most famous one and definitely something worth reacting to! It has a super cool MV and it's based on Korean sounds and wordplays too - J-Hope: he has two mixtapes as well as the other rappers in the group. Some of his songs worth reacting to are "Chicken noodle soup" feat Becky G , "Blue Side" and "Outro: Ego" (this one comes from a BTS album) - Jimin: he's the member with the highest vocal tone in the group, a very sweet tenor who loves to experiment and perform. His songs are super hard to define: they have an unique genre, and I would recommend you react to his performances to these songs! "Lie" is the hardest one to categorize, but it's spectacular (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpqUpaSkmJaBb5I&ab_channel=%EC%9D%BC%EB%8F%84%EC%95%84%EB%8B%88%EC%A7%80); "Serendipity" and "Promise" are two very sweet song and "Filter" has some latin vibes to it, and is also super cool - V: he's the only baritone in the group, you can notice his voice is deeper than the others and he adds that soulful vibes to the songs. It's also his favorite genre (soul/jazz), and you can notice that from his solo projects: "Singularity" is a super peculiar song, with a deep sound, "Stigma" and "Inner child" are also his and tend to dance on this line of soulful, "warm" melodies. - Jungkook: he's the youngest of the group and main vocalist, and he's so good that people often can't recognize his live versions from his studio versions. While he, like the other vocalists, doesn't have solo mixtapes, he has some of the most famous solo songs from BTS, like "Euphoria" (to which I would definitely recommend watching this live performance kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpiui6yln9JrnNk ), "My time" and "Still with you" (released on Soundcloud as a thank you to ARMYs). He loves to sing and has repeatedly said it's his life, this is why he loves doing covers for other songs. Those are really great to listen to, if you want to understand the way Jungkook sings, which is a very breathy type of style as his "signature" style (Some of those covers are "Falling - Harry styles", "We don't talk anymore - Charlie puth" (this one with Jimin too), "Never not - Lauv", "Lost stars")

Yes! And I feel like they over-dramatized the trope as both a parody of said trope while also show that this desperate way of showing your love to someone isn't always the best, hence why they highlight the bridge part where they try to woe the girl with the flower. Boy In Luv is also called as 'Sangnamja' that is literally translated to Manly Man or Masculine Man which is a popular trope in KDrama where the male characters will act tough and kind of showing their love by being 'abusive' towards their female interest. Their first trilogy albums in their first era which is school era mostly revolved around the usual teenage issues and hormones 😅

I feel like boy with luv was more to show their real selves in that sense and to not just go by what society expects of you. The San namja ("Real/Tough man") thing and how it's portrayed in k-dramas a lot as well and seen as something nice is not normal or okay a lot of the times. They are showing that just being yourself makes you have love instead of chasing after someone/something and not being yourself (which of course fits in with the whole Love yourself AND map of the soul themes.)

There was never anything wrong with this song at all. Even the title of this.. ugh.. it's even a correct translation. It's not really "BOY in love", it's more like "Real Man in love".. or like a... man's feelings of love. Anyone can admit that a love from a "man's" point of view will be very different from a woman's, especially since it's about a YOUNG man. All those hormones.

This is one of my favorite songs of theirs, but I'm glad yall pointed out the problematic parts of the MV. Some of their older music is like this because they tried to play into a 'bad boy' role but it didn't go the best way They received feedback and criticism on that era of their music which pushed them to educate themselves on what was wrong in their music/mvs and why. They've grown a lot since then and I respect that they could see the issues in the art they made back then and learn from it. Plus it makes it easier for me to enjoy the music since I know how much they've changed since then (Just a heads up though: none of their old stuff is over the top problematic! its what you'd expect from teens who still have a lot to learn in their perception of the world. All their music is still enjoyable ☺︎︎)

@@besalasestrellas ok so war of hormone was objectively not wrong in anyway. it's only the boy in luv music video which i feel can be problematic. whereas war of hormone is basically them expressing their teenage hormonal desires and they are not insulting or making women sound inferior in any way. also it kinda confuses me there are several kpop boy group songs who's lyrics ate actually problematic and literally scream male possession over girls and making them their property especially from so many big three companies but they never got attacked for it.( not that any of this should justify bts in boy in luv mv btw) so my point is most of these accusations were just out of hate for bts. whereas for the boy in luv mv too namjoon has constantly educated himself about this and held himself accountable for it. tell me how many men (who are actually mostly or have made sexist comments) are willing to hold themselves accountable?
@aarceeandtannies2217
@aarceeandtannies2217 2 жыл бұрын
@@CookieCreamCrumble For me War of Hormone is bold and truthful song in all sense, it might be uncomfortable but it is REALISTIC, it's part of adolescence and youth, a period of young ones being curious and wild, fitting to the album "Dark and Wild".. it's part of their story to tell in their ever evolving discography as it's literally their LIFE or generally about LIFE talking about aspects on the PROCESS OF GROWTH.. I will not feel embarrassed of that song because it's part of how they are today. And I love the fact that they reboot songs, from the immature love in BIL and WoH asking the girl of what she wants so that he can follow to get the girl, into a mature love in Boy With Luv which depicts that love comes from small things, asking about her day and being with her, ..because they have learned and understands more now as they go through life. BWL is generally about love but also a poem dedicated by BTS to us ARMYs.

Bts started with a bad boy concept that they kept throughout their first 4 eps/albums. This mv was supposed to be satirical and be mimicking Kdramas of the time, but out of context it does look a little extreme. Good thing is that they know, have apologised, and have been very careful with what they put out since they changed their style. Some of their earlier songs/mvs can be a little cringeworthy considering how far they've come and the kind of themes they use/lyrics they write nowadays, but they're still bangers to be honest ahah

Back then in a lot of k dramas there was many that involved high school kids. A popular thing was to pin the girl they liked against the lockers to confess their love. Bts has apologized for the assumption that they were abusive towards women. To the point now that Rm takes his lyrics to a women studies professor at the University to have his lyrics reviewed to make sure they don't oppress or abuse women in any way. The guys have been more cautious to make sure that they address gender equality. After that song and the criticism they received, they came out with 21st century girl.

I always chuckle at the urinal scene. Back then in Korean dramas the reoccuring theme for male leads was being a tough, slightly abusive character so grabbing the girls wrist and dragging her away from situations, pushing her harshly up against a locker or wall. It was all supposed to be an attractive quality in male leads to assert dominance then later reveal how caring and loving they are later in the drama.

I'd recommend "Outro:Tear", it's a rapline song. It's not like Baepsae or Ddaeng, but still hits hard, because of the music combined with the lyrics (I'm not 100% sure but it's supposed to be about struggles they had during the time they were considering disbanding in 2018). The live performances are even better than the audio, but I think to really get the pure sound it's better to watch the lyric video first. Another thing: I really the way you approach(ed) them. The reason why so many Armys watch your reactions is because even though BTS are immensely popular, they are often looked down on like "Yeah it's just a seen-before pop group that's popular for like no apparent reason", so as fans we're really happy to come across people who are open for it and dive into many different sides of their discography. Because then you see one of the reasons why they are so popular. I really appreciate you for that and have fun watching your genuine reactions (there are also people who (over-) react and endlessly praise them just to get views...)

Some of their songs have actual official rock mixes that you might enjoy (which they often times perform live), like DNA's Pedal 2 LA Mix. I also remember you saying you wanted to see them do classical, so you might enjoy the alternative video for Black Swan, which features an orchestral arrangement of the song (and an insanely talented dance troupe-here: music.kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHjFpoh8h8mMp7c&feature=share). A song I recommend from their earlier days is Tomorrow.

I don’t know what poor Jimin had done to be having to clean the toilets. I love the young V growling in this. They were still struggling to find their place in the K-pop world when they made this. Little did they know that in a few years they would be on top of the whole pop world not just K-pop. There is footage of Jin apologising to the girl. I presume he was told by the director to push her that hard. If I had been her I would’ve told Jin that if his mate was pushy like him then there would be no way I’d meet up with him.

They are their own genre 💜 They were young when they made this song and video. It was showing the hormones and anxiety that boys feel. Jin had a hard time with the locker scene and famously apologized to her many many times while shooting the mv. Boy With Love was made showing their growth and maturity. I was never offended by the original but I live in the US where we are exposed to a lot worse in videos then grabbing a hand and pushing. Both songs are great 💜

The scenes with the girl are every school Kdrama trope ever - slamming your crush into lockers (as seen), holding your crush back by the wrist, piggybacking, back hugging etc. Oh and getting kicked in the face by your crush - preferably the girl doing the kicking. These kdramas are usually based on manga (Japanese) or manhwa (Korean) or even webtoons written by schoolgirls. So this MV is basically a canon fan fiction.🤣😂

Suga has always said that he wanted to defy all genres, BTS is their own genre. Like others have mentioned below the locker thing is kabedon, it started in Japanese dramas and anime. It was very popular, but controversial in KDramas as well. I think you guys will like a lot of their early songs. It was also this song and MV that I first laid eyes on jimin and this was wen he became my ult bias, his high note in this song always sends shivers down my spine. also a fun side note to this is when they were making this MV jin accidently pushed the girl too hard and he kept apologising to her after.

Ohhhh and heyyyy btw, BTS did a cool thing to showcase their growth, 2014 hypermasculine pubertal "Boy in Luv" vs 2019 "Boy with Luv" feat Halsey. Notice how the "Luv" was spelled the same, to hint the connection. When you get to Boy With Luv, you'll see the contrast with Boy In Luv: how maturity, growth and confidence in one's masculinity somewhat translate into how one profess and showcase their love for their significant other.

The short answer is "yes". The longer answer is that in their 8 year career they've covered a LOT of genres, which is one of the things that gives them such wide appeal from a musical standpoint - there's literally something for almost everyone. While they started out as a hip hop group, they've evolved over the years and produced songs covering a variety of styles on their own, as well as collaborating with other artists in adjacent genres.

That whole slamming the girl against the locker was actually how Kdrama depict so called bad boys in school acted around the girl they had feelings for but didn’t know they had feelings kinda situation. There’s a behind the scenes video where Jin apologises to the girl multiple times. When they made songs they included in their songs how the then current society handled things and what teenaged at that time went through. They always have something important to say. It’s great that you noticed this. Looking forward for more reactions. Oh and by the way they experiment with all kinds of genre so you are bound to find at least one song you like.

Bang Hitman which is the creator of BTS, had this concept at first of a hip-hop group, he chose all the members on that idea, and the kids were trained to be hip -hop dancers and singers. but then he though it wasn't going to be as succesful as he wanted them to be, so he changed the concept to an Idol group and that's why you can hear in their muaic the transition from one to the other.

Most American fans of BTS might've experienced some shocking moment in this video because it was about 8years ago when they were still a newbie K-POP band. BTS boys have ever evolved their music styles and genres constantly, as time goes by, which means they didn't fix their music styles in one area. And that became the source of BTS music evolution in the K-POP world. What's more, this song made them the No.1 band in the K-POP chart at the time since lots of Korean teenagers loved this song very much. That was the 1st step of BTS to become the No.1 boyband in the K-POP world.
