In fact their company was on the verge of bankruptcy when they were all starting but their hard work, dedication to writing their own songs and contributing to every album (they are all credited by music associations too its not just writing a verse here and there), and popularity are what made the company what it is today. Butter was highly promoted, it played on the radio, Samsung commercial, they had a McDonalds meal and Butter was played for that. It was on the Billboard hot 100 #1 for 10 weeks. They performed it at the Billboard music awards and the Grammy's. There are a lot of TickTok challenges, etc. Yes, all seven members have released solo projects, and they debuted as solo artists recently before they have to enlist for Mandatory military service in South Korea. But don't worry, they will be back in 2025, and will make a comeback as BTS again. that was announced by their agency and them. Actually, Jungkook just debuted a song that is already being nominated for awards in South Korea, and he has been promoting it here also. His song is SEVEN and it's been nominated for Song of the Summer at the VMA's. I think he might be attending and performing, so we will see. The 7 members are all songwriters, composers and producers. Sometimes they're given songs like Butter and the rapline (RM, SUGA and j-hope) write their own lyrics, but overall they do write the majority of their songs. RM currently has like 214 song credits and I'm not even kidding, but SUGA is the one that produces the most out of all of them, for his solo projects, the group and for other artists

71 year old Army here. This song was their 2nd Grammy nomination after "Dynamite" so it was EVERYWHERE and got a ton of radio play. They dropped three upbeat all English songs to cheer up Army during Covid: "Dynamite", "Butter", and "Permission to Dance". They write a lot of their own music along with in-house songwriters, but since they wanted all English songs, they were mostly written by U.S. and British songwriters except RM co-wrote "Butter" with seven other songwriters. Their legendary performance of "Butter" at the 2022 Grammys show received a standing ovation from all of the other music stars at the live show. Thanks guys! 💜

Their other english language single "Dynamite" was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 3 weeks in 2020. I have heard both of these songs on the radio in the Target, Walmart, and the grocery store. You know you done made it when a song is playing in the Walmart and Nana's start singing it. 😀 Butter was written by Jenna Andrews, RM (leader of BTS - and the R in the spelling of ARMY) , Alex Bilowitz, Sebastian Garcia, Robert Grimaldi, Stephen Kirk, and Ron Perry. Produced by Robert Grimaldi, Stephen Kirk, and Ron Perry. They are signed to their original label Big Hit - Now Hybe Labels. At the beginning 2013 Big Hit was a very small label, that had only two groups signed. BTS and the CEO of Big Hit, Bang Si-Hyuk (now Chairman of Hybe Labels) made them and Big Hit successful. They went from a dorm with one bedroom where all seven of them slept, to stock holders of a 7.88 Billion valued company.

Bts started from a very small company which was close to bankrupt, this company is now the biggest korean label company thanks to BTS. And yes they are very hands on with their music and members take part in producing and writing their songs but they also have in-house producers that help. For certain songs they will ask other producers and writers to make them a song to fit a certain vibe . Overall they control the direction of their own songs.

I recommend "Not Today" bc it's amazing and it will blow your minds. Despite them not being as involved in the making of their 3 english songs (including butter, RM was involved for some of it), YES, they do write, compose and produce their own music. They have been signed to the same label since debut: BigHit Music (formerly BigHit Entertainment). In k-pop, the 3 biggest companies (SM, JYP, YG) rule the entertainment industry in south korea, so BTS had a lot of hardships, and their small label was at one point near bankruptcy. Now BigHit is really big, so big that they are a part of HYBE comporation, but BTS isn't big bc they had BigHit, it's the other way around, BigHit is big bc they had BTS. And yes, all the members have solo songs and have worked as writters, composer and producers.

This is only temporary until 2025 since the members are leaving 1 by 1 for the required military service of korean males. Majority of the time they do write and produce their own music but they do work with both western & local artists that compose certain songs for them as well as do collaborations …. for example they did a collab with Coldplay with the MY UNIVERSE during the pandemic plus a documentary video of them recording it with Chris Martin on top of that they’ve done many other songs with steve aoki, chainsmokers, latto, wale, warren g and coolie, nikki minaj, nas x, billy ray cyrus, and local Korean artists etc. *To your surprise you will find that there are many western artists that are BTS fans as well as Kpop stan in general.*
