nice! In case you didn't know, BTS songs cover a huge variety of genres, including neo-soul, jazz/blues, rock, RnB, funk, latin, ballads, and more. But their signature sound is the old-school hiphop sound. They have a lot of songs that you could classify as strictly rap/hiphop and RnB, they were originally a hiphop group. And each of their 3 rappers have written/produced their own rap solo mixtapes, they're really good. I'll drop some suggestions and info in case you're interested in checking them out. First rapper RM has 2 mixtapes. Some song suggestions: Joke, Do You, Seoul, Moonchild. Second rapper Suga goes by the alter ego Agust D for his mixtape work, he has 2 mixtapes. Some song suggestions: Agust D, The Last, Daechwita, Moonlight. Third rapper J-Hope has 1 mixtape. Some song suggestions: Daydream, Baseline, Hangsang, Hope World. J-Hope also paid $2.7 million to the original artist to re-make the popular 2000s hiphop song Chicken Noodle Soup by Webstar and Young B. And released his re-make as a free song. He did it as a passion project, to pay homage to his own hiphop dancing roots. There's a music vid, his re-make features Becky G. J-Hope also recently released his first solo rap album Jack In the Box, the songs More and Arson have music vids. For the song What If, he samples wutang clan's ODB song Shimmy Ya. He headlined at Lollapalooza last month, first korean solo artist to headline a major American music festival. Really good performance. The 3 rappers also made several rap songs together. Like Cyphers #1 - #4. Here's an iconic live performance where they each do 1 verse for the first 3 cyphers + the entire 4th cypher: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIWcZGOOe5apsKM Outro: Tear is a popular song by their 3 rappers. Here's a famous live performance of it at Wembley: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3XYkn19jspre7M Ddaeng is another popular song by their 3 rappers. There's a lot of cultural references and korean word play in this song, if you want to understand, the channel DKDKTV made an explanation video for Ddaeng. RM and Suga were well-known underground rappers prior to BTS, they are experienced battle rappers. J-Hope was a trained hiphop dancer and learned how to rap after being selected for BTS. The 3 rappers are also the primary songwriters and producers for BTS, they have a heavy hand in the vast majority of their discography (which is somewhere around 300 songs). RM and Suga also write/produce solo songs for their BTS vocalists, and for other artists outside of BTS. The song Singularity by their vocalist V is a neo soul song, RM wrote the song for V. Stay Alive by their vocalist Jungkook is produced by Suga, who also helped to write it. Some rap-heavy BTS songs with all 7 members: Born Singer - they sample from Born Sinner by J. Cole. Hip Hop Lover - their homage to hiphop, they reference a lot of their hiphop inspirations, including a lot of old-school ones. No More Dream and We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2 are their first 2 music vids ever, hiphop style songs. Spinebreaker and Anpanman have old-school hiphop vibes. The BTS album Map Of the Soul 7 was written based on the work of the famous psychiatrist Carl Jung. The songs Black Swan and On Kinetic Manifesto are the title tracks. All 7 members also have solo songs on this album. The 3 rappers each made a song based on a different Jungian psychology concept: Persona by RM, Shadow by Suga, Ego by J-Hope.
