this is actually a huge award show, basically the Grammys of Kpop. BTS was the closing performance and literally minutes after this they won Artist of the Year. They were still out of breath and covered in sweat. It was their second time winning it and they are actually the first group to win it two years in a row at the MAMAs

BTS "Dope" MV, "Save Me" MV, "Ma City" live at the HYYH tour, and "Let Me Know" live performance....and "Born Singer" (it's a Jcole cover) live, and "Baepsae" dance practice. Those are kind of my top faves that never ever get old no matter how many times I watch them. BTS are also super funny guys and make a lot of Behind the scenes stuff, vlogs, and like variety game show type videos too. They're really hyper and hilarious, and are really close like family (I mean they've lived and worked together for going on 8 years, since they were all basically teenagers)

Kpop groups usually have specific light sticks for their fans. So each group has their own unique light stick. The light stick for BTS ARMY is called an ARMY Bomb. And you can buy them online and bring them to concerts. I was told that when they are in a big group of other ARMY Bombs that they can connect with Bluetooth and then they will all blink at the same time and it’s super cool. I think they also change color at the same time as well. For the microphones. Usually the rappers hold theirs in their hands and the singers wear the ones on their head. But that’s only sometimes. You will see a singer every now and then holding their mic too

OKAY tinashe kpop is a genre of music in korea. Kpop stands for korean pop. There are many many groups. Yes multiple groups preform at MAMA. MAMA or Mnet Asian Music Awards is an award show btw. You should also check out their MMA or Melon Music Awards performance. If you want to see some concerts of BTS you can search up one of the BTS musters. There are four. OR you can search up their wings tour or currently their love yourself world tour. There are many fan cams for the tours. Wings is one of their albums btw, they released it in 2016. Love yourself is a series of three albums: Love yourself: Her, Love yourself: Tear and their newest one Love Yourself: Answer.

those lights are Lightsicks. every kpop Group has their own Lightsick. For Example, BTS has the so called "Army Bomb" wich looks like a white Disco Ball. Bigbang has a Yellow Crown which represents them beeing the Kings of Kpop...also about the mics. Mostly they use Handmics if they don`t have to Dance very much or what they often also do is that they give the Rappers Handmics because it`s more fitting for them. this was an award show. BTS was the final performers before the major award was given which was MAMA 2017 Artist of the year award that actually BTS won. this performance was the last two songs of their 4 songs performance or the second half with the intro as well. i suggest you watch the first half too. BTS is the best! there's nothing like BTS. btw, there are 4 Cyphers. listen to the other 3. highly recommended.

It’s a Korean award show, called Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), held in Hong Kong. They sang live with such intensive choreo ~20min total, everyone is amazed, best performance of the night, this is the last vid. (First vid is ‘Intro+Not Today’, Second vid is ‘DNA’). BTS won Artist of the Year, well deserved as they broke all kinds of domestic & international records in 2017.

Headsets and hand held mics are down to preference but BTS usually uses headsets for the vocalists and hand held mics for the rappers. Mainly because the vocalists will be doing a lot of singing and adlibs and such whereas the rappers rap blocks of the song so it's not as continuous.

For this performance, the rappers were the one with the mics and the the vocal lines (Jin, Jimin, V & Jungkook) were wearing headset mics. Mics has the tendency to pick up background sounds whereas headset mics reduces the level of distant sound sources, especially at low frequencies so the voice can remain clear and distinct.

during the end of every year, the 2 are two major award shows. usually from the end of november to the start of december. the mnet asian music awards is mostly held in hong kong every year and many groups are nominated and voting usually starts a couple of months before. in korean, "daesang' essentially means "big prize". there are 3 such prizes, "song of the year", "artist of the year", and "album of the year". groups from the big 3 companies(yg, sm, and jyp) usually win them because in korea, the label you sign with helps a lot with your popularity and these companies hold a lot of influence in korea which usually means they get more exposure with korean fans, get more screentime on weekly music broadcasts (such as musicbank, mbc music, show champion etc.)and have better articles written about them. anyway the second major award show is the melon music awards, taken after korea's number one music streaming site "melon". it is usually held within days of MAMA, it's held in korea. same thing applies with the awards given and stuff. however, last year in 2017, during the MMAs, the "global artist award was brought back for bts. and with clarification that it was indeed considered as a "daesang". it hasnt been given out since PSY won it years ago because no other artist was befitting of the award until 2017 where bts's popularity shot through the roof. and at the end of the year there are 3 major broadcast stations that will hold song festivals before the year ends. they are called "gayo daejun", "gayo daejaejeon", and "gayo daechukjae". theyre held by sbs, kbs, and mbc. i hope this was useful

Korean music shows tend to be big and often look like a concert whenever BTS performs. Those are army bombs, BTS fandom name is ARMY, our lightsticks are army bombs. They light up and connect to WiFi during a concert so if you see all the same color or changing it's that. All kpop songs have Korean mainly and a bit of English, some songs have more English in it. BTS always deep and you have to be a detective. The intro with all the letters and numbers are the 3 new EP's coming out, titles dates and songs!! This video was only the last two songs they performed at MAMA (MNet Asian Music Awards). There is another video of their Intro and Not Today. The award that they won was announced just as they got back from their performance and there is fancam of that showing how exhausted they were. As an American, it is unusual to see that the Artist of the Year is not the last award nor are they given the opportunity to perform an encore stage which allows the recipients of the last award to perform. It has been changed for the BTS wins (or so I have heard) I guess that small company discrimination is still in effect in Korea.

They are savage. That night they performed 5 songs, whole stage performance took almost 20 minutes, with dancing, live singing. There is footage of them getting back to their seats 10 minutes after performance they were so tired,they were almost crawling to their seats, drenched in sweat, still trying to catch their breath. Do we seen it any on stage? No. That what I call professionalism.

OKAY tinashe Me too, but I don't have it in me to be that passionate about something. Their work ethic is something else. Before every comeback they spend up to 15 hour/day practicing new choreography, singing. Then comes promoting, performances, video, photo shootings, fan meetings and in the middle of that chaos they start creating music for new album and then circle starts again. They have only few weeks/year for themselves. No wonder poor things don't have any personal life. They even live in one place together. Half of the year they don't even spend in they own country. That is some serious dedication. I guess that is why they are more like brotherhood, then a band, I never seen anything like it in my whole 31years life. BTS is like some Cinderella story except, they don't needed any prince on a white horse to save them, they together, through real hardship and hard work created something out of themselves. And that is inspiring.

The rappers have mics because they don't have to do a lot of movement when they preform and the vocalists have the in ear mics because they have to move more while singing so its easier than holding a big mic

This is not a concert by a music award. MAMA(MNET Asian Music Award) is one of the biggest music award in Asia. The rappers usually have a hand held mic while the vocals have an ear piece mic. BTS have 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. The guy with the sun glasses is RM, the Leander of the group.

All the lights are ARMY bombs or other light sticks shaped to represent other artists. It's a common thing for Kpop fandoms to have a specific light stick for specific artists/groups to take to concerts & award shows to show some love when the lights are down.

Some people have the handle one because they are the main vocal (Jungkook, Jimin, V and Jin) and the three other rappers are holding mic, they have to dance while singing the chorus

Like previous comments said it was live at an awards show called MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards 2017) they were the last performers an did about an 18 min performance without any breaks, an this was the last two songs they performed. But their concerts are big too (In korea it’s about 20k to 30k and the concerts I’ve been in the US about 15k to 18k people) an usually sellout. Getting tickets was like the hunger games, trust me from experience lol Great reaction!

OKAY tinashe They haven’t announced it yet, im thinking they’re going to release their new album/mini album first (which BIGHIT said will be released within the first half of 2018) then announce the World Tour with more dates hopefully in the US. But first JHOPE is finally releasing his highly anticipated MIXTAPE!! Could drop any day now lol. So y’all should react to that when it drops. Normally on SoundCloud. An the ticket buying I meant was for last years Wings tour when they came to NYC an LA. But I think now since Billboard an AMAs it’s going to be even more difficult to get tickets😭😭😭 **not sure if y’all reacted yet but BTS dance practices are good to react too, there’s Blood sweat and tears, FIRE, an Silverspoon/Baesae (which you should find the English subs, BANGTAN subs is a good channel for the different BANGTAN Bombs) **Also If you react to any lyric videos Lynn Eksonyeondan and Ashleygold(she has like 2-3 numbers in her user name after this but I don’t remember them lol) are good channels for English translations. The rappers prefer to hold their mics. The vocalists prefer the other one. Depends on how much their dancing in their songs but most of the time - the rappers like to hold the mic and rap.

J-Hope is the one with red hair. He's lead dancer in the group. Since they're all amazing dancers, you can only imagine why he's lead dancer. If you haven't, you should watch his Boy Meets Evil music video &/or dance practice. Or just any dance choreo he's got (regular, for awards shows, Hope on the Street, etc.) He's such a hard worker.

Warning! Warning! Educational novel to follow. If you decide to proceed, take a seat and you better grab a snack cuz you're gonna be here a while... I love how open you guys are to learning about Kpop and BTS! There is a lot to learn about the culture. As long as you are respectful and ask questions, usually ARMY will come along and help you out. Occasionally you'll get someone with attitude, but that's everywhere. Light sticks: are covered pretty well in what I glanced through in the comments so 'nuff said. Hair color: is EPIC on them!!! Stick around and watch the rainbow. As you work your way back and watch music videos you'll see everything from smurf blue to cotton candy pink to smokey purple to...just wow. So much fun. Education: I'll break this down into three areas. 1. Music videos: are a must, of course. BTS goes deep with their lyrics, and they will connect story lines. It's important to note that not all videos match the story in the lyrics. ARMY are forever scouring videos for clues and carry-overs etc. You will also see that they are hella lit in the visual department. Between the cinematography and set design, there are many places where you could take stills and frame them like art work for your wall. 2. Dance practice videos: in my opinion are equally as important as the music video, but for a different reason. Usually the MV is using multiple vehicles to advance the message. This means you won't see the entire routine from start to finish. (The MV for Save Me is an exception...that crazy thing was filmed in ONE TAKE.) As someone who greatly appreciates dance, I am SO. THANKFUL. that they've chosen to upload many practices. Their choreographers are mind blowing and next level (who else turns a group of guys into a frickin' CAR?? With a STICK SHIFT no less???). Their work deserves to be properly displayed with a steady camera. The boys' hard work as dancers deserves to be displayed as well. Dance Practice Bonus: besides MVs they will also share practices of other songs. Then to completely spoil us they will do some silly, special ones like when they dress up for Halloween, or do an 'appeal' version where they might ditch the choreo for a second so they can blow a kiss or throw hearts or make some goofball face. 3. For an overall perspective of the progression through the years and to get to know the members individually, I strongly suggest Squishy Min Yoongie's projects. Begin with the individual members, going from youngest to oldest: 1. Jungkook ("Jung-KOOK", youngest aka the 'maknae' ("MAHK-nay") which is a thing there. Is good at everything from singing to dancing to sports and beyond, and has earned the nickname Golden Maknae in the Kpop world as a result.) 2. V/Taehyung (He chose V as his stage name for Victory. Real name "Tay-HYUNG" like 'young' with an H. Dude is 4-D as hell, especially in the earlier years. Able to have fun anywhere. Lived on a farm before being scouted.) 3. Jimin ("Jih-mihn", basically just like it looks. MY BIAS and sexy af. Classically trained in contemporary ballet in his home city of Busan, especially gorgeous to watch in MVs like Spring Day that highlight that background.) 4. RM (real name Nam-joon, formerly Rap Monster/Rap Mon, changed it from the nickname he earned in the underground rap scene pre-BTS because he's more than just rapping now. Is the Leader of BTS, does a lot of the writing for BTS (the others have contributed as well), has a solo mix tape, and has collaborated with both Wale and FalloutBoy. Has an almost-genius IQ of 148. Has dimples that don't quit.) 5. J-Hope (real name Ho-seok (sorta sounds like 'sock'), is an actual ray of sunshine. Always ready to dance, laugh, very expressive. He and Jungkook the maknae kill it with the girl group routines and crack the others up. Was a street dancer before BTS and oversees the 'Dance Line"--Jungkook, Jimin, himself. Also part of the Rap Line (with RM and Suga).) 6. Suga (like 'sugar' without the R, real name Yoon-gi. Like RM, was an underground rapper in his hometown of Daegu. Known as one of the fastest rappers out there. ("Breathe, baby!") Has his own mix tape under the name AGUST D. Quiet but deep, writes and produces music, recently won an award for a song he produced for a female soloist. Has the best 'So Over It" expression I've ever seen.) 7. Jin (Seok-jin, again with the sorta-sounding "Sock" but it's not used really, he's just Jin. The oldest therefore due respect from the others unless it's about the group professionally, then they defer to leader RM. He was scouted because of his good looks. Looooooves to eat and cook. While he's the oldest, he can be silly and play with the younger members. Loves to tell Dad Jokes, which completely crack up Jimin because they're so bad. Usually Suga just looks pissed off.) Once you've gotten to know the members, you can go through Squishy's Era videos. They summarize everything from songs to clothing/make up/hair styles at the time, etc. It's a neat way to see the progression since their debut in 2013. Jungkook the maknae was 15 at the time and still in school! The first one in that series is the No More Dream Era. If you're still here and not asleep, WOW! I hope this provided some help with these guys. They really are just fabulous and so precious, so ARMY are very protective. They have clawed their way up with a lot of haters, coming from a small company and being dismissed because the rappers 'sold out' to be part of a group and wear make up etc. Cyphers 1-4 and Mic Drop are all to the haters. The best video to capture that issue is BTS: From Nobodies To Legends. Powerful. Enjoy the discovery!
