9:18 It's crazy you mentioned "Persona" because BTS has a trilogy album called "Map Of The Soul [MOTS]". MOTS is based on Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung's books on the Map Of The Soul which talks about the *Psyche, Ego, and collective unconscious* .BTS delves into Jung's theories focusing on the Persona, Shadow, and Ego aspects of it in the albums "Map Of The Soul: Persona" and "Map Of The Soul: 7". While Fake Love on the other hand is a part of another trilogy album called "Love Yourself" which are "Love Yourself: Her", "Love Yourself: Tear", and "Love Yourself: Answer" however, it's all connected.

The song was written by RM, one of the BTS members, pdogg (in house producers under Hybe Labels and hitman bang (founder of the label). RM said the song could be about a relationship or about yourself so he left it open for interpretation. Almost all official music videos have the english subtitles except for a couple of the early music videos. @@nikki4noo i have to disagree. it's a good guide. while the troubadour show already had more than enough army lined up to see bts so they really didn't need to hand out flyers, it is very indicative of the point they were at back then - they still needed to hustle like hell and this makes that point. in regards to jin and jimin, there's only so much you can cram into a guide. she also mentions their daesang sweeps, it's not really going to hit with westerners because they are unfamiliar to them. is the guide all encompassing? no, but it provides a good overall picture of the band and its members. no guide is perfect, but taylor's is the best out there.

As your first time listening to BTS, It can be really surprising for sure. I’m glad that you enjoyed BTS! It can be confusing but as you have heard and observed, BTS songs have different genres. In the group there are 3 rappers and 4 vocalist. Us fans love BTS not only because of their sound but their message through their songs. Whenever you watch their MVs I suggest you turn on the CC subtitle to be able to understand what their song/music is all about. Really enjoyed your reaction and it will be great to see you react to more BTS soon! As reference, If you want to hear more of their songs I suggest you listen to: ON Kinetic Manifesto Film Black Swan Blood Sweat & Tears DNA Fire Bts has songs of almost every musical genre. Also wanted to add that most of their songs are actually quite insightful and deep. As you said, each member has their own palette and uniqueness and you can hear and see this essence of individuality through their music and in ANYTHING that they do in general to be honest. The more one looks into BTS the more appealing they get; Not just from a musical perspective but in general. BTS roots are in hip-hop as the first couple members came from the underground rap scene before the rest of the members joined, and then debuted together. They incorporate/blend R&B, pop/edm, and other genres such as rock, jazz, Latin, etc. If you want to learn more about the members and BTS as a group then I suggest that you react to A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7 by Taylor Nakamoto this is the most recent one

Taylor’s name in the channel is now Taylor Mari, so search for that. It’s the best, most up-to-date Guide out there. A couple of hints: 1) BTS has a storyline that runs through MVs, Webtoons, short films, etc. The MV visuals aren’t always tied as much to the song as to the storyline (called the “Bangtan Universe”). 2) If a song/video/performance video doesn’t have subtitles, adding “eng” or “eng sub” to the search term usually finds videos with English subs. The doolset bangtan site that someone else mentioned is excellent for lyrics, too. (No video - just lyrics and great explanations) 3) The “Enjoy BTS More” channel has been adding English subs to a lot of live performances, so they are a great resource for those. 4) BTS has b-sides that are equally as great as their title songs with MVs (maybe even better in some cases - they’re that good). B-sides rarely have MVs, though. Lyric video channels in general aren’t great - doolset bangtan is better for truly getting the meanings right. Their are often live performances of b-sides, though, so keep that in mind. Many will have good lyrics - especially in the Enjoy BTS More channel mentioned above. I enjoyed your reaction - always appreciate respectful BTS newbies. 🙂

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this (and I'm sorry to throw you down a rabbit hole) but Fake Love is directly tied into the fiction storylines in their cinematic universe called the Bangtan Universe. RM's scene has the storage containers where he lived in the previous story because he's basically homeless on his own; Jin is in the exploding room protecting the flower because he time travels trying to save the other 6 boys from an event he set off, but it just messes up more and more as he continues to try; J-Hope is in the room of Snickers bars and carnival rides because his mom left him as a kid at a carnival with only a Snickers bar; Jimin was so depressed that he tried to drown himself in a bathtub and is in the room with the pouring water, V is in the room of phones because in his storyline he gets in trouble and he's trying to call RM for help, but the call is never answered Suga is in the burning room because he set fire to his own house and a piano his mother gave him in depression And Jungkook has a bit of a vague roll because he's seeing it all happening and trying to go through all the scenes (he's the one running down the hall) It is a lot but it's crazy that they have an MV universe that also includes a webtoon and a book series as well as some poems and short stories that BigHit created originally for the Bangtan Universe.

BTS have like 300 songs in their discography 😅 So, yeah, people are going to recommend a LOT of songs. If you start with songs that have official music videos from their official KZbin channel, those will have accurate captions. There are a lot of EXCELLENT bsides with no music video that you'll need lyric videos for...those can be tricky, so I'd certainly say if someone recommends a song they should also include a link to a good translation for you. 🤷♀️

All of the BTS Official MVs have excellent subtitles provided by Big Hit (the entertainment company they have been signed with since before 2013). You kept talking about Persona... BTS has a two album series titled Map of the Soul. The first album is Persona, the second is 7, that has songs titled Shadow and Ego. Both albums were inspired by psychologist Carl Jung. In essence, most of BTS' songs and albums are very deep and well thought out.

Doolset for accurate lyrics, also for an explanation of their MV's DKDKTV & Bookish Theory are good sources. Thanks for reacting to bts, this song is actually part of a series called the ‘love yourself’ series, other songs that complete this series are ‘DNA’ and ‘Idol’ and they tell a story. DNA: the start of love, you feel happy and euphoric and you feel like this love will never change Fake love: you start to realize you’re not as happy as you thought you were because you’re faking parts of yourself to satisfy who you love Idol: you realize you need to love yourself above all and accept yourself Other songs in those albums also follow this story
@Ahjusshi_Brown Жыл бұрын
Speaking of multiple interpretations, BTS is actually very well known for that (and Fake Love is a perfect example of that). On surface level, this song can be read in the context of lovers, friends, or even amongst one’s self. Fake love, changing yourself for the love and appreciation of another (even if that other person is another part of yourself) is an incredible message on its own. The message goes beyond that though bc this song is actually part 2 of a trilogy in which BTS was discussing the journey to loving yourself. They also visually allude to their next series (via the MV) which incorporated the psychological concepts of individualization by Carl Jung (in which they discuss one’s persona, one’s shadow, and one’s ego). EVEN BEYOND THAT, this song can be interpreted through the lens of the Bangtan Universe (the BU) in which BTS has created a nearly cinematic storyline that runs throughout all their albums AND some of their MVs, books, webtoons, and video games. BTS have a habit of making their content extremely multifaceted and able to be interpreted on various levels, and that’s one thing I really love about them. They can stimulate you audibly, but also intellectually (and that’s rare to come by in the “pop” music scene, regardless of what country it comes from).

Thanks for your interpretation of the lyric. Yes, the lyric can pertain to various relationships. They have on going BangTan (BTS stands for BangTan Boys scout which means Bullet Proof boys scout) Universe story line from one album to the next album. This mv has so many symbolisms and stories from the BU and gives meanings just like you interpreted. The back ground statue and their dance movements symbolize "see no evil, hear no evil & speak evil" and flower, mirror, key hole, water fall, fire and even Snicker bars have stories & meanings. Their later album is based on the psychologist, Carl Jung's book theory, Personna, Shadow & Ego. BTS is not a common boy band. They do write most of their own music and inspired by arts, books, psychology, philosophy, even movies and thru their experiences & feelings. They make us to read, think, study and observe more to human lives. Very intellectual, I must say. That might be the reason that many professors from different universities from different countries get together and have seminars on BTS' works for last 3 years. Their 3 English songs are not that deep. They created these English songs light & poppy purposely to cheer up people during the pandemic.

Lol sorry for long comments and/or too many comments. The part of the MV were their are phones/iPads turning on and off and the guy (V) holding the phone that turn to dust…behind them the mirror says Save Me but if you flip it, it says I’m Fine, which are both are BTS songs that connect to one another. Sometime I recommend listening to both. (Save Me has an MV but for I’m Fine doesn’t. I do also recommend watching live performances with both songs sides by side). No hurry… Something about BTS music is it is like an onion or puzzles. You can keep finding and peeling layers. You can find more and more pieces of a bigger puzzle. I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching a interview with BTS by the Grammy Museum. They don’t get a lot of great interviews but this is one of their best ever in my opinion. (I will put link down below in comments of this comment)…some things from the interview: Every song on each BTS album is one piece of the puzzle: Suga explained that many of the songs on the Love Yourself albums are meant to be taken as part of the whole, contributing to the larger story arc and concept, while Jin noted that the albums' title songs and videos are chosen and shaped to reflect the “color and flavor” of the albums as a whole, as well as the key message. (Fake Love is part of their Love Yourself Albums which tell a story. Love Yourself: Her-the start of a relationship and it feels like destiny and unreal and happy. Then Love Yourself: Tear where the relationship starts to feel off and unsettling. Finally Love Yourself: Answer where they have an “Epiphany” and they find the answer that they need to love themselves first before they can truly love others)(however you can add more layers if you also include BTS’s BU, which is a fictional storyline that runs throughout BTS’s albums, MVs, books, cartoons, etc) And their production process is a truly collaborative effort: Suga likened BTS' production process to a "year-round song camp," noting that their creative efforts are not just limited to their songs, but expand out to music videos, choreography and style. The group works together to create their lyrics and melodies -- and process feedback from Big Hit boss "Mr. Bang," Bang Si-hyuk -- and said that they consider their production team to be colleagues and equal partners in the ongoing creative process. “If there was a barrier, we wouldn’t be able to make the music we do,” Suga noted. “We all have to do our roles, and we try to work together as much as we can,” J-Hope added. “Our participation in the process makes it more sincere and meaningful.”

For the songs with a MV it's good to watch on their labels channel called "Hybe".. also you should keep the BigHit intro to avoid copyright strikes, if you leave the intro they usually just claim the video..

@8:38 this is something that is awesome!! The members of BTS learned pretty early on to make the music be applicable for anyone and be interpreted any way they would like, while still telling their story…RM, Suga, and Jhope are the main songwriters of BTS (especially RM), however all have grown to slowly be more involved in the music… @9:22 BTS actually have two albums that talk a lot about personal stuff…Map of The Soul: Persona (pretty much an album dedicated to ARMY) and Map of the Soul: 7 (inspired by Carl Yung theory) @9:37 if the MV is from Hybe or Bighit then the captions are correct or pretty close Sometime could you pls react to Indigo by RM. He recommends listening/reading of order of playlist. He also said the album is an archive of his twenties. Their are two MVs, Still life and Wildflower. (This album was released in December 2022). I also recommend Indigo Magazine Film on BangtanTV where RM talks about each song, a little of the process or inspiration, and the collaborators also talk a little too. @13:06 lol BTS have a huge discography lol. I have been ARMY for almost two years and I still find new songs everyday. I have heard other ARMY who have been ARMY much longer and still find new music lol. 99.5% of their music is written by them. A good portions is produced and/or composed by them. Take your time and pls try not to feel overwhelmed. @13:43 this is something awesome about BTS majority of their music you can enjoy with or without the deep message (but in my opinion better when you look deeper into their music)

Thank you for your reaction, i really wanna see more of your BTS reaction. Iits really refreshing to see musician reactors dig deeper to BTS lyricism coz first of all ARMY not only love their visual or choreo but also feel connected to their musics and its lyrics. Most of their lyrics are so deep and bring positivity that have helped many Armies went through their anxious, depression or self destruction. They tought ARMY to love themself first just how ARMY love them

According to me other than butter and dynamite all of their songs have deep lyrics. And that’s one reason they and their songs resonate with a lot of people. We can feel those lyrics and music even if we don’t understand Korean.
@corgisrule21 Жыл бұрын
The thing with subtitles is (for BTS), the songwriters in the group use carried language or words that don’t exactly translate. RM talks like a poet mixed with the new slang in real life and if we didn’t have Korean translators on Twitter and YT trying to explain the nuances of their words, we would miss a lot (which is why a lot of us are learning/have learned Korean🤣).

Interesting that you said the word Persona a couple of times. That's actually discussed two albums later. BTS usually does what's meant to be a trilogy of albums discussing a theme/subject. Map of the Soul: Personal is actually a discussion based on Carl Jung's themes and a somewhat continuation of the Love Yourself Series. Fake Love is the title song from the middle of the Love Yourself album series where it talks about the hardships and the darker side of relationship whether it's with your partner or yourself.
@forevabangtan Жыл бұрын
I actually think you two would love it if you listened to the albums in order. Because for example the Love Yourself trilogy, if listened in order it tells a story. BTS are such beautiful artists. I describe their music as filled with stories about struggles but always with the light of hope.

@@MixItUpPodcast sweet! I'll be here for it! It's interesting, there's a large number of heavy metal heads that end up loving BTS. Metal is an emotional genre, and lyrics are usually important in a lot of good metal.(I was a metalhead for a good portion of my formative years. I'm 50 now) 💜 BTS are kings of intelligent lyricism and they do multiple genres. You should check out BTS and seo taiji doing classroom idea live. There's even a little screamo in there 😉 just make note of it, I know you want to do some mv's 1st, and this probably shouldn't be your 1st sight of them live, as they're with seo taiji not the other was around, it's his song and band.

With writing and making song you really have to look into credits... If we talk in general, usually rappers write their parts, it isn't a case if one of them write all the song, then they give parts to who they think it will fit the best, sometimes that person make a little changes so it will be theirs but that this is how it looks. All songs are did like that, a person gets part bc band and producers, etc, think it fits that person the best. Making song is effort of all, the members of band and in house producers most of them was with them from begining and it is like 4 people, the BTS members thing of them like of part of band. Hmm With song writing must song are write by rappers in band. Fake love was written by RM, "Hitman" Bang, and Pdogg, with the latter as producer. So RM is a BTS leader and rapper, Bang is person that made band, like collected them and put them together and Pdogg is a producer in company, one of this people I write before that are with band from begining even before debute so more then 10 years. He had his hands in most BTS songs...

안녕하세요🤗 Hi guys🤗 First, Big Hit's videos do not have copyright issues. So there is no need to blur or downsize the video. 😘 I'm a very normal Korean so I can't speak English fluently, Even if the lyrics aren't perfect in English, the message seems to be conveyed well. message! This is important to BTS. It was a very new pleasure to hear from you. Thank you for sharing your opinion. I'm looking forward to the next trip. More BANGTANTV. Thank you. 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜

This mv FAKE LOVE is a continuation of their BU storyline. The part of the SNICKER BARS is very sad. The character JHope plays in the room lying in a bed of SNICKER bars was abandoned by his mother as a toddler. The mother took him as a toddler to an amusement park to spend their last moments together; they even took a picture together. Then, the mother sits the toddler down, has him to cover his eyes and pretends it's a game of hide and seek. She tells the little boy to count while covering his eyes. As the toddler counts, the mother proceeds to place the photo that they took together and a SNICKER bar next to the toddler before she walks away and disappears out of his life forever. Now, if you look at the room, it is filled with snicker bars bc he is still that toddler inside that is still trying to fill the void of his mother's love and the last moments they spent together . BTS' storyline goes all the way back to 2014...2015. Also, BTS had the most well thought out universe storyline of any kpop group in history The Kpop industry knows that its the storylines that draws ppl in and locks them in that kpop rabbit hole. Lol!

BTS' lyrics are freaking amazing and meaningful! You must listen to other songs! RM (one of the members of BTS and leader) he is the main songwriter of the group. His songs are pretty deep, he once said that lyrics are import in songs, too. You should react to Wild Flower by RM (his new single from his album called Indigo). Besides, BTS also has amazing songs that I'm pretty sure you'd like.

If you watch their official MV's, all but their very oldest ones have English subtitles and are on either the BangtanTV channel (spelled exactly like that - no spaces- and is BTS content Only), or HYBE Labels (which has BTS and other artists under HYBE). Those are the official channels. Good Discussion at the end there. This video is part of BTS storyline called the BU so some of the visuals referenced back to that. However, you don't Have to get in to the BU (Bangtan Universe) to understand the song. I think you both got it right.

Thanks for reacting to BTS ! I think they will surprise you on many levels because they have, no lie, the wildest range of music any artist have and hundreds of songs. That means, no matter what your genre is, you'll find songs you like and some you might enjoy less. Anyways, as much as medias like to put groups in a box, BTS is no typical "boyband" and even in the Kpop industry, they're totally different. They're pionniers in some way and to these days, I haven't seen any artist that big being so normal out of stage. But most of all, they've been working very hard for a decade, literally starting from scratch in a company that was on the verge on bankruptcy only to have made this company one of the biggest economic sources in South Korea nowadays. On top of being amazing rappers, singers and dancers ; BTS members write, produce, take part in the artistic concepts, music videos, dance choreographies, ideas... Everything basically, in collaboration with their company staff and artists. They're really on a line of their own and I think you'll see that for yourself when you react to more. That being said, you're really perceptive on many levels, can't wait to see more of your reactions :) Also, I think you should definitely react to the different fan-made guides about BTS. They'll put you on many informations about the group, the members, how they work and everything basically. Because above learning about their group history, these guides make you understand their music a lot more in some way. That was my case when I first became a fan (and I'm sure I'm not the only one). I guess learning about the background of each member, their background as a group and the way they work for their craft, makes you understand the music (and the artistry) in a much more complete way. The most complete (and amazingly made) guide is : " A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7 " (by Taylor) which is in english ! In any case, I hope you'll enjoy the journey !!

On KZbin, to find subtitled stuff: "Enjoy BTS More" has a lot of great full live versions when they can jump the copyright hoop, and stage mixes (where they use parts from several performances) when they can't. " "AF Taehyung" has great color coded lyrics (where you can see who sings/raps which lines) "DIAL 6137" has good lyrics videos with mood images as background "BangtanSubs" has subtitled versions of other content like behind the scenes videos or mini-documentaries, because the older stuff wasn't officially translated (they started around 2019)

If you like deep meaning you will love BTS. Most of their songs, like you say, are open to interpretation. RM, the leader of BTS, has said that they love to see ARMYs interpretations some are surprising and they hadn't thought of themselves. In addition to the open interpretation and the theme of each set of albums they have a fictional storyline, the Bangtan Universe or BU, which runs through many songs, albums, webtoon, mobile games and notebooks. The storyline has not been completed yet. It starts with the song I Need You. Fake Love is a BU song too. If you want to delve that deep ARMY can help you with the order or you can cheat like I did and watch a summary of the story, I like xCeleste's version. I look forward to joining you on your journey. I am 50 year old ARMY from UK by the way 💜
