The fact that this was supposed to be their last time performing at MMA for awhile- they were going to go on their world tour and then do their individual stuff but Covid hit- they went all out and it is still one of the best performances I have ever seen! I’ve only been Army since Jan 2022 and I have watched this at least 50 times - most watching others react to it. I love how many reactors say “no!” when RM says “are you ready for this?” It’s classic. Great reaction. I love to see people stunned by BTS’s brilliance on stage.

I’ve seen this several times since “discovering” BTS quite by accident. I’d seen theses shocking singers on Carpool karaoke...Who IS THAT HIGHVOICE???? (jK) Korea? I know virtually nothing about South Korea that wasn’t taught in a class about their ongoing war about a million years ago in school. I have been singing dancing and performing since I was 3. My degrees are in music. I was bored to death of pop culture. And have NEVER been a fan of any group or person apart from Thomas Hampson, NY Met etc , Music is what I do. And I’m so old. But watching this award ceremony, I had to actually remind myself to BREATHE. Omg omg who are theses people? Watching it “with” you again, I just want to cry. Their dedicated work and years of living their dreams into reality is deeply moving. Being unimpressed with the studio made stars of who’s your daddy Western charts, auto tune, looks right so actual vocal talent completely optional ...BTS.. I doubt there will be another group who will ever captivate me again. I’m ARMY, western and old AF.

For the Dionysis performance the choreo had to be modified because V and JK rolled over the desk but V hurt his shoulder and there's a spin to dive move and Suga's shoulder didn't allow so they did knelt/knee instead but the original choreo is boss so 🔥

I loved the whole performance, but watching Jimin perform his solo for the first time literally brought me to tears; a mixture of pride and awe at his talent and growth. And he's not even my bias lol!

The symbolism in this performance is so over the top that Bookish Theories had to do a two part analysis to cover it. But I think she did the best job and it would be good if you could watch it. No award show does this. It was covered in the Sunday "Culture and Entertainment' sections of the largest city newspaper here in the US. You could probably find them on google. Their individual performances represented Greek Gods. There was an entire story here. RM as Dionysus was beyond marvelous.

Every time I watch this performance [and I've watched it countless times] I cry - my heart honestly swells with insane joy, love and pride as though I were watching my own kids up there. When you think about the way they were snubbed way back [arriving at venues and the press lowering their cameras as they walked up the carpet] - to their debut [and still getting treated badly] -their first daesang - and all that followed - and then this insane performance....lordy what an insane journey. These guys are totally magic - they are not just super charged talented - they rise even higher than that because they are 7 exemplary human beings. BTS was meant to be - they are lightning in a bottle [magic] I am so happy I found them several years ago - so happy I am Army - so immensely proud of all they have done and will continue to do...BORAHAE

It blows my mind how incredible this was and each time I watch it I see something new that I didn't notice the previous times watching it. These are what you call true artists, someone(s) who put their all into their art. The amount of time and practice this took to get it to where its at... That’s why we have this PRE-MMA2019 and POST-MMA2019 experience, like your life changed right there.. i couldn’t even count how many times i watched it and yet i still get awestruck by how amazing our guys are. they are beyond this world really. the whole intro of Dionysus, from V until their ending part, esp the remix of N.O. so so so good. the whole production is beyond amazing.. the first time i watched this i like couldn’t even process what happened with me.. my whole day became a day of figuring out what just happened.. 😅💜

So true Hobi's solo is just amazing, and honestly that was fro. just what we could see, if the lighting had a bit better, or something along thise lines, it would have probably been just even more insanely good. I would have loved to see his Tuting a bit closer. Though I know there is a dance practice where you can see him practicing this and it is closer and clearer. But I would say my favorite most of all is still just the entire last part when they get into performing Dionysus, itself. The horses, the harps, the guys at the throne like table, etc..., etc..., etc... And the dance break was just chief's kiss 🤌 And their energy was neverending!! Have never seen anything like this at any show, that I can even think of. With out a doubt one of the best performances I have ever seen. Every single one of the guys were just out of this world!!! ❣️This was from the annual Melon Music Awards, a Korean award show the equivalent to the BBMA’s. BTS swept the awards, thus closed the award show, though many other artists did indeed performed beforehand. The cost of the production for BTS entertainment company BigHit, was over 500K dollars, and all the in-house production team of BigHit started planning it over half a yr beforehand! Also most of the rehearsal time that BTS had was while they were touring worldwide. But they all were quite into doing this, and somehow managed to fit in the rehearsal like they did the yr before. All the solo performances were prerecorded live with smaller audience the day before, with exception to Jimin’s solo performance, who only performed live only, without the benefit of prerecorded VCR, since there was no way to have these stage sets and tank pool of water let alone have JK who was performing the dance in water get dried and change clothes beforehand! BTS did also perform a version of their solos, while the broadcasted version saw the VCR version filmed day before. The only one who performed live only without benefit of VCR being shown,for the broadcasted version, was Jimin, who shows here being the phenomeno breathingly amazing professional dancer which he was before even signing on to BTS. Also certain songs like Mikrokosmos, as well as beginning part of RM’s Persona, was performed live beforehand and also prerecorded so they could also allow for the special effects that only people who saw the broadcast on TV in South Korea or had it stream worldwide could see that version. Also the part with the live horses was filmed beforehand without an audience.

Mind blowing, eh?! I've watched reactors watching this so many times and they are always in awe of the fact this is an award show and the performances and the stages are so amazing. Not all of it was live. ARMYs who were there will tell you which bits were. One bit that was, was Jimin's scarf dance. Every time I watch it I hold my breath in case he gets caught up in the scarf even though I know he doesn't. It was such a tricky thing to pull off. Dionysus was a tour de force. Dancing on moving staging, falling back into the arms of the dancers, it's all totally incredible. J-Hope is the master of this performance. Those leopards were fantastic props. Boy in Love is one of their early ones so there's a lot of growling. You could see Tae stop singing to show that they're not lip synching. Mikrokosmos is a balm to the soul. It was so beautifully staged. Western award shows don't hold a candle to the Asian ones. When they performed, Butter, on The Grammys they brought a little of this to the stage. If you haven't watched it then please do. I love your enthusiasm.

You know I do enjoy alot of other music/movie/games and whatnot. And sometimes I like to check out other things on livestreams. But here I wanna keep this a space for ARMY. This is a documentation of my journey down the rabbithole. Haven’t seen explanation about Dionysus performance in comments, may be I've missed it. So just in case put it here. The solos at the end each represent a Greek gods: V - Apollo, God of Sun Jin - Ares, God of War Jimin - Artemis, Goddess of the Moon Suga - Hephaestus, God of Fire JK - Poseidon, God of Sea J-Hope - Zeus, God of Thunder RM - Dionysus, God of Wine The 7 lights make up a star constellation Corona Borealis (Northern Crown) that represents Dionysus' wife (Ariadne). She had a crown with 7 jewels.

This is definitely my favorite awards show performance. It started awesome and each song made it better and better. When they brought the horses out I was floored, and then they yet did Dionysus and the dubstep routine. They pulled out all the stops in this performance, letting their competition know what a high mark they would have to beat to win. They turned the awards snow into their own concert. Did you see all the ARMY bombs (light sticks)? After this performance, light sticks were banned from the audience of the show. (Supposedly to not show favoritism, but it was really because of ARMY showing up for BTS.) this was my absolute favorite, but 2018 was also very awesome!

Both his incredible solo dance (that always takes my breath away with its sheer beauty), and his intensive stare when they are all sitting at the table (boring a whole right through your soul). it's amazing 💜😍

I lost count how many times I have watched this. I love seeing new reactors response and it is lovely and never fails. BTS only knows how to give a 1000 percent and their dancers, etc also give that much. I loved how they showcased each member. Thankyou for a heartfelt reaction. I really loved 2018 MAMA awards too because they showcased their own traditional culture in instruments, dance, and traditional attire. I thought that was very special. No one comes close that I have seen in honoring their country, culture and language and their own special messages in an awards show like this. Borahae! 🌟💜🌟👏🏽🎼😊

❣️Jimin’s solo performance, wearing a modernized hanbok just fastened by ties only, had many different dance elements in it! Including the barrel leaps taken from Korean dance elements, some martial arts elements, (trained for 8 yrs in various forms w/blackbelt in Taekwondo), & of course contemporary dance. Also, equally ever so stunningly outstanding, was Jimin's scarf work, which is alone so hard to master, without getting that ever so thin veil of a scarf all tangled! Jimin somehow was able to make the scarf one with himself, using it as an extension, even at one point when he did that amazing jump leap straight up the scarf becoming his wings!! Jimin's whole performance was so amazingly stunningly beautiful. Just so effortlessly breathtakingly mesmerizing to see!! Though the other members did a version of their solo performances for benefit of the live audiences, for the broadcast version as seen here, viewer see the prerecorded version, that was prerecorded the day before, since especially JK’s performance in water with that heavy tank that weighed a ton wouldn’t be able to maneuver for live audience, as well as some of the other effects seen like for Mikrokosmos, also the part with the horses was obviously prerecorded as a safeguard for the horses. It also gave a chance for BTS come up for air as well as give them time to change. Jimin was the only one who didn’t have the benefit of prerecorded VCR, which meant that for his solo performance by the broadcasted version, viewers saw Jimin perform live only. While the broadcast version showed for rest of members the prerecorded version. But once again the live audience did get an opportunity to see BTS members do a version of their solos.

I remember when I saw it for the first time, it's still the best performance I've ever seen at an awards show. And the horse part made it clear to me that anything can be expected from BTS. I also remember that on Yoongi's program he apologized because because of presentations like this the level of demand increased a lot for the other Kpop groups.

No one knows the true meaning of the word synchronization until they see this performance of Dionysus! Every performance of that song is amazing but this was next next next level! And the thing that was most mind blowing is the amount of energy they threw out... at the very end of all of that production. They had to have been completely exhausted. And this was everything. Loved watching you watch this just like every other ARMY... eyes wide and jaw dropped like a little kid watching Santa Claus 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

You seem to suddenly notice the 7 lights one for each member that also form the Crown that Dionysus flung into the heaven's when he married the woman he loved it was her crown. It is the 7 stars that make the constellation Corona Borellis that can be in the night sky in the North Hempshire of our planet. Two of the stars are very faint and in my life I've only ever seen the full constellation once. As you need a clear sky eg no cloud cover. Dionysus the Mythological Greek god of wine, theatre, madness, drunkness which RM plays. All 7 members play one of the gods of Greek Mythology. Even the Leopard is the mythological secret creature of the gods.
