Shadowsong it doesn't really. it mostly depends on how the person was raised. But a lot of Americans at least, have a weird mindset where they think anything non culture specific made by someone not European or American is "cute" but in a condescending way. And consequently don't take them as seriously as they would a European or American that does the same thing.
