i agree with the idol prejudice but i think another factor that comes into play is the general attitude of kmedia towards bts. we've seen numerous times how the media there tends to downplay bts' achievements-which may be due to the relationship of bts with the local media. if you wanna know more, i would very recommend kim youngdae's interview regarding the grammy nom. In the video talks about how bts' fame grew organically (meaning they didnt go through institutions/agencies to achieve their level of popularity) which is why, according to the interview, the media are a bit petty because they didnt have a big role in bts' rise to fame. This leads to them downplaying bts' achievements causing the general public (most celebrities included) to be pretty unaware of bts' significance :> sorry for the essay!! asjsj i just wanted to add my take :> feel free to correct me if im wrong AJSJSA [EDIT: i removed the bold text since it wasn't really working ++ fixed some of the wording since it kept running on lol]

I am 64 years old and have been a fan of BTS for three years now. The one thing that I have noticed is there sincerity, the humbleness, and their love for ARMY. I really enjoyed this episode and hope to see part two. I think one thing that puzzles me, is how so many people in Korea do not realize how big are the messages that BTS puts out there.

I don’t think it’s fair to say “Korea does not deserve BTS”, generally Korean people are good, open minded people. It’s the country BTS were born, and they call home. I understand that the guys suffered a lot, and received a lot of hate from K media, but the path they took was their destiny. If they hadn’t endured such hardships & obstacles they wouldn’t be the quite the same incredible, beautiful, inspiring 7 people we hold so dear.

This! This is a reason why i hate when other groups are even mentioned with bts, when they try to put someone on their level. Yes bts come from the same industry, but they dont feel like manufactured idols like others, they feel like artists. They write and produce their songs, they dont have 100 love songs with same edm sound repeated over and over, they didnt have big3 privileges, never rode on someones success and used someones name in articles about them, never used mediaplay, been cut off of programmes multiple times and the list goes on and on... but they succeeded cause they pour their souls into their songs, just listen to black swan - who else would have thought to make a song about fear of losing their passion for music? No one, i dare say, cause in majority of cases others are here for fame, most of these idols later have solo career and being in a group is just a way of gaining fans and fame before moving on, but bts are here for the music. They truly broke down all the barriers and paved the way. For example, i come from a country in europe where korean language and culture were in a little to no demand and now in my city there are hundreds of courses where you can take up korean and guess what? Every single one of them uses bts as examples, including their lyrics to analyse words, phrases, meanings, everything. Its actually unbeliavable how much they changed the world, many may not still see it, but its true. Sorry if this was too long lol PS. It would be nice to also start mentioning their grammy nom, if hot100 was out of this world, then grammys are out of this universe lol Another PS. Like that article said, they, along with faker, bong joon ho and son heung-min truly are the elite 4 of sk.

this is why bts have a golden discography bc the music they make actually means smth, they have a message they want to tell the world. so when you talk about their music you don't just present 1 hit song, you present the entire album and the meaning to which it entails as a whole. they're making art w their albums. bts are true artists and deserves all the respect in their field

This is why so many people don't understand why BTS is popular, the typical theme for songs nowadays are about love. While BTS 방탄 소년단 take on so many difficult topics that is not talked about frequently in public and made many songs that this generation could understand. This is also why I love BTS 방탄 소년단 with passion, they really love music and would take the risk about making music for society issues that teens and young adult experiences in their daily lives. So, I hope that locals and even people from other fandoms that hate BTS 방탄 소년단 would stop and try to understand their music. *BTS 방탄 소년단 and ARMY would be together forever 💜*

I only hope that Koreans will know how big BTS's impact on the global market because of BTSxARMY hard work. Although at the beginning of their career, many underestimated them and they really struggled against prejudice, critisism, and media play. At least, at this point, korean citizens can appreciate BTS more. I am just quarantine ARMY and I didn’t expect to be one. In the past, I just heard about BTS and I didn’t bother getting to know them, not until I heard their Iconic ‘DYNAMITE’ song. I got so into it that I got totally curious about BTS and the members. I got deeper and deeper in knowing them, until now I’m still getting to know more about them so BIG thank you for this. One of the main reasons why I liked them other than their CHARACTER, HARDWORK, talent, and visuals is because of the MEANING in their MUSIC. Especially their advocacy “Love Yourself”. It still shocks me because you’d think the people in the home country of the boys’ would be fully supportive and know how big of a deal they are, how much they bring to the country, and how theyre actually breaking HISTORICAL records (and not just in Asia) when in reality some celebrities themselves dont even know them. I guess locals downplaying the title “kpop idol” and the way k-media always treats their achievements as nothing big is to blame :/ but it hurts to see how much prejudice theyre actually still receiving even after 7 years... A constant reminder that we might think of Korea highly because of kpop, beauty products etc, but you get to see a sneak peek of how close-minded the country still is, well, mostly older people. This is why I’m glad there’s a show like this where they get to be educated about BTS. Can’t wait for the full episode!!

okay, more people needs to see this because i love every bit of info she gives them. it's true that up to this date many celebrity in SK who has not listened to one song of BTS are thinking that they are just another artists/singer/idol who got famous because they're handsome and good dancers. what they don't understand is the message in these songs that resonates to so many of us from different ages that makes this miracle of small and big changes that were all currently living in .. 💜

No offends but why not get an ARMY who has been with them since the beginning. You’d learn more. Not saying any ARMYs who joined after their debut year is not relevant but anyone who became a fan during the early years knows how much the beginning was extremely difficult for BTS. You’d learn how much BTS, BigHit and ARMY from a first POV and not from reading up the experiences of others. Just my opinion.
