Jimin's solo song 'Lie' becomes the first song from the group's 'Wings' album to be eligible for RIAA Gold Certification in the US. It is referred also to as THE RITE OF PASSAGE by Rookie idols. Jimin is the ROOKIE’s BIBLE. Lie is a masterpiece. None has covered this song dancing while singing live. Some idols have danced to it some failed to sing like jimin.

That’s key change is the core of this song, because he put a happy key (major) inside of a sad key (minor). It’s deceitful what’s he is trying to show, pretending to be happy wile being sad.. amazing!! Ppl forget that jimin is a classical artist before he was a pop artist, so he has Chopin, Beethoven and all those classical musicians in his blood, and he was able to bring them forth in this masterpiece by starting with a sample of a Spanish guitarist name La vida Breve by Manuel de Falla, he gave us different musical eras from Baroque and Romantic, all that drama and tension from the early opera’s, the dinamic of the keys who are simple because of the repetition but gives us a never ending cycle making us feels stuck.. and that major note that many don’t understand why is there and why the repetition of it.. and not even that is a normal major.. I just love lie so much and I’m still waiting for Jimin to give another masterpiece like it.. Alone came close actually from FACE album.. really amazing! And he wrote and produce this 😝👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

This song and performance is a peace of art. Magnificent classical sound, deep lyrics, amazingly expressive vocals, beautiful and captivating choreography and mesmerizing Jimin. Jimin had full participation in the writing and composition of this masterpiece. Each solo in the Wings album is related to the BU (bangtan Universe) aka the fictional storyline witch run threw MV and albums since "I need you", specially the short films. So the lyrics of Lie fits to the fictional character played by Jimin but it's also related to Jimin himself, the struggles he faced, and we can feel the authentic emotions and pain. The Wings album revolves around the concept of Hermann Hesse’s novel, ‘Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair’s Youth’, a coming of age piece that uses myths and references to follow the journey of a young boy to self-realization. One of the key points of this book is the importance of accepting the “dualism”, the idea of two opposing forces (maybe good and bad or truth vs fake) that are both necessary in life. This idea is portrayed by Jimin’s solo where we see an inner fight between his two sides, his true and insecure self, and this mask that he created to face the world but is swallowing him up (as in the verse : the prey vs the snake) . It’s a complex song where metaphors, vocal and music composition details mix to vignette a cry for help.("caught in a lie" is the only line of the song in a major key (usually associated with happiness), while the rest of the song is in a minor key (usually associated with sadness, mystery, unease). So, the line "caught in a lie" is itself a lie amongst the rest of the song - the "happiness" is a lie) . This song is a portrait of what struggling with your identity, insecurities and inner demons is. RM explained that Jimin used to blame himself for all the failures and shortcomings, having thoughts like “I’m not good enough, I can’t do this” and that he wrote the song reflecting that mentality. Knowing this reflective way of working to deliver an honest history is why this song is so important for so many ARMY. Jimin's journey to self love is so inspiring for a lot of us. The choreography and interpretation is incredible too .Jimin seems to 'punch the beat'. Lie has been popular all through the years, being the most streamed solo song from the WINGS album.

❣️Jimin wrote the lyrics not only by himself, but was the only one to send his very first draft to the producers, and it was approved, so no need for a rewrite! The lie is the lie he keeps telling himself. Always in the past aiming for perfection and by doing so always questioning and second guessing himself! Although deep inside he knows better! The other lie is telling himself, as well as everyone else that everything is alright when it's not!! Jimin has grown and changed, along with the other members since then. All learning to love themselves for who & what they are flaws and all! Jimin is now able to, as his song "Promise" says, shine the light on himself, as well, speaking up more when things bother him and allowing himself to laugh off whenever he makes any kind of mistake, knowing now he can always perfect or improve on what ever needs to be corrected next time!! 🙏👍❤️‍🔥🔥🤩😍⚡️✨

It was RM himself who stated when doing the vlive review of the Wings album, and discussed each members solo song, where he said that Jimin himself wrote the lyrics. Of course like all the other members with 5he exception of RM, after sending it to the producers, some of the lyrics were translated to English, so after Jimin initially did indeed write the very personally heartfelt p, emotional lyrics, others were involved in translation. Going by credits it’s also known that they have been found out to not always being totally accurate, which we’ve found out later on when members themselves talk about the songs. I also find it interesting how some are finding the need to add the other names credited here, but for other members, this is ever hardly mentioned, even including certain members in producing when that wasn’t even the case. But here indeed, at least even according to RM Jimin was indeed the one who wrote the lyrics I suggest anyone who doubts go to that vlive where RM introduces the newly released Wings album, like he does for other albums as well. Then talks about each song individually. If you have any doubts or disagreement, please take it up with RM. I personally respect and believe what RM says to be honest facts.😅☺️🥰

I recommend anyone who has doubts about Jimin writing his own lyrics, pls watch: 📌Eng Sub [RM] 161020 Wings: Behind Story from the channel BTS Live Archive. At time stamp 15:30 is where RM talks about the discussions he had with Jimin that they both shared. Then went on to mention that Jimin himself wrote all the lyrics with the lyrics mentioning some of what Jimin shared with RM beforehand. Jimin indeed poured out all his emotional, heartfelt inner most thoughts & feelings into the lyrics he wrote. Of course as I mentioned before, it goes without saying that after sending the finished lyrics he wrote to the producers, some of the lyrics were indeed changed to English, which is why others are given credit, just like it is for all other BTS members. 👍😅🤩😍⚡️✨

I my mind, Set Me Free Part 2 is the follow up to Lie. In Lie he talks about being caught in the lie of perfectionism. In both the dancers lift him up to free him but I feel in Lie he is not completely out of it. In Set Me Free, when he reemerges in the white it's an acknowledgment that he has freed himself form the internal and external criticism and is finally unabashedly himself. I love this so much! Especially, how the cords go from minor to major and back. Such excellent construction of the song to convey the real pull of self doubt. Also, he's a big usher fan. I'm sure his music was very much influenced by him. Army joked like crazy that Jimin must have been so jealous of JK for getting that remix on Standing Next To You.

Changing the key of the song would ruin the point of the song. Part of the "lie" is using the minor chords where they do and using the major how they do. Making it all minor or all major defeats the part of the purpose of the song.
