Hi everyone - Just an update for those of you that haven't' seen my community tab. There will be no Rise of Bangtan this week - I will resume as normal next week! I have gotten super sick over the last week and still am not feeling good. Luckily, I took a covid test and it is not covid! Will hopefully be posting like normal next week. I'm glad that you're feeling better. This video always gets me so emotional. That acceptance speech, no one knew of their struggles, they had carried on through their activities as per usual. Upon reflection, you might be able to pick up little things, subtle things, here and there in videos but the boys were too much of a professional to have let that anything was amiss until this awards show when Jin was the one to drop this bomb on the world (and subsequently ARMY). It's like, when Tae breaks down, Jk starts crying and then JM starts crying and then all of us, army, are crying as well. We can't see them cry. This speech makes me cry every single time. It's so wholesome, so overwhelming.

I watched it back then and Tae was so ugh, not okay. He and Hobi cried even after the show. You can see it in their BangtanTV video. Tae literally whimpers, I was so heart-broken. We have no idea what they were going through. We just see bits and pieces.

This still gets to me, no matter how many times I see it. First their performance, being total pros, and then that speech, being totally vulnerable, raw and just... people dealing with a LOT. They're so, so strong, and my heart aches and swells with pride and love. I'm in awe... and in tears. 💜💔💜

I don’t think any of us were prepared for this speech when we first watched it 💔 actually what you said about the way they blew up during love yourself: that was a main reason why they considered breaking up, just because they never in their wildest dreams expected to get so big globally (and create/break so many records, they’ve done many things no other Asian artist has done before them) and felt so much fear and pressure. Thankfully, they found a way to deal with this (I believe map of the soul 7 is partly about this journey of acceptance? Especially the song Shadow?) and are now stronger than ever. Airplane pt 2 is great, I’m sure you’ll love it when you get to it! It was inspired by a j-hope solo song called airplane. Hope you recover well and feel better soon!

Besides the speech always making me cry, this MAMA show is special to me because the performance of Airplane pt. 2 was my intro to BTS! I was on Twitter and randomly saw a video of Jungkook's runway walk and beginning of the song. I needed to know more about who this was and what this was. Once I found out, it was all over for me 😅

I can't see them crying 😭. Seeing Jhope crying just break my heart, he is the most positive and cheerful person 😭. And Taehyung, whenever I see him crying I cried too. He is my bias but still I cried whenever any of them cry 😭.

That's actually the thing with BTS songs. U might not like one straight up, but then like it with the MV, and if not that in the end the live performances do it for u. I felt that abt Idol. But even the MV grew on me as i realized what it meant & the easter eggs in it & eventually the live performances. There not one idol performances that isn't absolutely amazing. Same for Not Today for me, initially i was a bit like umhhh idk but then when i saw videos of it as the concert opening track i was sold.

Even on the interview and back stage Tae can’t stop crying, you can see it on the bangtan bomb. He was able to hold back during his speech but when he heard the disbanding he just broke down. It must be very hard for them. They went through a lot and deserve all the good things they have right now yet they remain humble and down to earth all the time.

Omg i am crying every time when i see that speech. I am an army from their debut and hearing them live talking abt a disband thought was so shocking. I was crying so much hearing that and seeing the boys. It was the most heart breaking speach I've ever heard from them. They really went through a lot to reach those achievements. I also remember the idols that attended also cried with them when hearing Jin talking abt their disbanding thoughts 😭😭😭😭😭

I had just found them out back then and they made me SO happy they honestly saved my life I was going through IT. And then they revealed they thought about disbanding and that was just the saddest thing ever I will NEVER forget this speech. It made realize how lucky we really are to have these amazing boys in our lives.

This was the first moment they openly said that they considered disbanding. They had talked about struggling...personal struggles, insecurity..not to mention the LY Tear album came after a while longer than they'd usually go without comeback (ha! But look at em now! Takinga proper break, which is good, but also teasing this goshdarn album, damnnn) But for Jin to say it so plainly was a shock at the time. I think Jin is the one to usually say such matters without beating the bush, but yeah. It hurt me more back then than now

What you say about Idol is SOOOOO true. It was never a favorite for me either, But I was at the LA Sofi concerts and Idol was one of the TOP HIGHLIGHTS of the concert!! Anytime the speech comes up it makes everyone tear up all the time. The one part of the speech that was humorous (bts will always have a humorous moment) Jungkook literally flicked the tears off his face. Like just yeeted them sideways when he whipped his head. Actually this is not the full performance of MAMA 2018 they performed it in both Hong Kong and Japan (where they performed fake love and anpanman) . Even the ones you watched aren't full they're edited (idol's performance) , You can watch it off camera if you want ☺️

It’s worth a second (off camera) watch of the speech on the Bangtan Subs channel. The translation is much clearer than the version you watched. Plus it shows a wider angle so you can see all their body language. It’s both brutal and very heartwarming to watch. The only one who I didn’t see with wet eyes by the end was Suga but I’m pretty sure that’s just because his hair was in the way. The speech starts at ~15:30. Correct me if I’m wrong but it didn’t show full idol performance did it?bcz at 11:55 u could see the cut in the performance Not saying it’s a major thing but that last part of this performance is what stood out for me in this performance.
