I'm pretty sure what he's trying to say is that, if you eat an apple at night/before bed, it will typically hurt your stomach? Ellen is a bully. You can see it in her style of humor which is both passive aggressive and abrasive as well as involves “pranking” people, which really in her case just means frightening people or making them uncomfortable, because she gets off on the power trip of making people upset.
