Namjoon talking about watching yourself grow so you can truly love yourself hit me so hard. I came out to my family as transgender 2 years ago. Since then I have gone through a lot of really bad things. Depression, anxiety, other mental illnesses, suicidal ideation. BTS has been one of the only things getting me through life. But I've grown. I've gotten happier with who I am. I cut my hair, I got new clothes, we found my name. However the bad things helped me grow too. An emotionally abusive relationship, an attempt to take my own life, people coming in an out of my life, all the negative things people have told me, all the times I was put down. I've grown. I'm me. I actually share the same goal as namjoon like when I ask people around me for their "goals", they would give me answers like being rich, owning a luxury car or a big house- mostly it's related to luxury. It makes me question if I got a weird goal, why am I different from everyone and I'm not a fan of luxury stuffs and they just kinda judge me for that and said I'm giving out a "negative energy towards luxuries" and my parents said I will be ruining their business if I think that way. What namjoon said here changed my mind again. He just always leads me away from my confusion seriously I respect him so much for this and for everything. Hopefully at the end of this life I'll be able to achieve my goal of loving myself. Yes it's so hard, like namjoon said sometimes you just hate yourself and its hard to "truly" love yourself. I wanted to achieve that, "Truly loving myself". Now I'm still following my idols (bts) lead to love myself and hopefully in the future I'll be able to do it myself but what bts taught me about loving myself of course will not be forgotten.
